  1. A pilot

    Welcome, Mr. Hughes.

Me, personally? I'm pretty undecided at the moment; I have a wide range of interests, and my dedication to them really shifts around a lot, and I don't know if I'm truly interested in them enough to put in long working hours on the subject, all year, for a number of years. If I had to pick something right now, I would honestly probably pick geologist/volcanologist, park ranger, or engineer/architect., just for the enjoyable job experience/locations.

But I prefer my dream of receiving no bills so I can do whatever I want and be happy with just living in the moment.

  2. This is what i've come up with for gear...

    2qd24ph.jpg

That look about right to you? and do you know the Charms/1k casts barraging in this setup?

Way too much magic bonus. You literally need no more than 80, maybe 90-100 if your magic isn't too high. Exchange those items instead of prayer bonus. For example, scrap the mage book and bring a Zamorak Book instead, or even a Falador Shield (which also restores prayer as a plus).

EDIT: Also, just wear the Soul Wars cape and forget the Guthix Cape entirely. I'd also only bring the Prossy plate and legs. With correct luring you will only used ~2ppoints per lure, regardless of whether or not you use the helm, so just bring another ppot. The only reason to use the helm, ever, is if you are using battle robes. In this case, using the helm prevents the hood from degrading hours before the top and bottom. This isn't an issue for Ahrims because it degrades much slower than Battle Robes and will reach 0 only after your trip is over.

Other than that, bring a house teleport instead of a camelot one. This way if you die, you won't have to pay for repair ahrims.

MORE EDIT: I notice you have 99 prayer. In this case, forget blood runes completely. You can use Soul Split to heal far more efficiently than Blood Barrage, so there's no need for those bloods at all.

[some image, cannot be displayed on these boards due to picture format]

perhaps this setup might work better, allowing you to replace the proselyte and helm of neitiznot with prayer potions, (since prayer bonus comes with diminishing returns, especially noticeable after around +20 prayer bonus) allowing you to last even longer for a marginally more expensive inventory. Cheaper robes though, if that means anything to you.

EDIT: image doesn't work on these boards. It's essentially just showing full dagon'hai robes with staff of light, soul wars cape, unholy book (zamorak book), arcane streaming necklace, infinity boots, barrows gloves, and ring of life. You get +89 magic attack bonus and +21 prayer bonus with this setup, no inventory wasted on gear switches for luring the lobsters.

  3. Thank god I have no buyable skills that I need to get up anymore...other than summoning (which I can't even afford to up at the moment anyways :( ). I suppose its farming, then agility or dungeoneering for the rest of the weekend.

I'm just so glad I finished off herblore about 5 months ago, and got turmoil 3 weeks ago.

Im looking forward to this

  4. One last question: about how long is a "tick" and how did we discover them? Don't see any guides on tip.it and this thread is the first I have heard of them - been playin since 04/05...

A "tick" is Runescape's most basic unit of time and each tick = 0.6 seconds. Every action takes up a certain integer of ticks. For example, take combat. Every time you attack your opponent, one tick is the actual attack, and the rest of the time until your next attack is 1.8 seconds (3 ticks, then the tick after, you would be attacking again).

  5. I haven't dunged on 148 in months :P

I really don't know how to describe the style my friends I dungeoneer. I'm not bad at dung at all, I just like to take my time is all. The person on our team that keys tells us when he wants to place gatestones, as well as us using our own judgement. It's like...half rushing...I guess is a way I could describe it.

Exactly how I dungeoneer with friends too, although I'm itching to learn some helpful things from DGS to speed up the floors, if I can still keep those dungeons with friends casual.

  6. yay, more money straight into graphics, server speed, and more developers for better and more frequent content

should bring in mroe players, wont be long before we see 300k on at a time

speedier servers/more worlds? Less lag can only be a good thing.

I would honestly like to see some of the more pointless graphical projects be put aside and more developers put on the more meaningful content updates (master/grandmaster quests, smithing update, other skills that could use some revitalizing like farming, fixing bugs in a speedier time such as the duel arena staking bugs, etc).

Of course we'll have to see what actually comes out of it, until then, I'll be pessimistically hopeful.

  7. but we do that, lol. join us for a dungeon and you'll see that on many occassions we do fool around. often you'll see Final in like full zeph just to be a troll and make fun of golvellius.

i'm fine with being called an elitist. i see nothing wrong with showing why certain ways of thinking are superior to others.

    ----

skype is pretty different, just as phone calls are different to texts in real life. voice to voice human interaction is nice.

as far as actual tutoring, not all DGS members will actually personally tutor you step-by-step. i think the general attitude is that we are there as resources and for people to learn by example. we are accepting of mistakes and if you have questions you are always free to ask, but since we want to do dungeons too it isn't necessarily our first priority to teach you. at least thats the way i viewed it.

of course, i am completely open to questions. if you have burning dg questions shoot me a pm and i'll be happy to respond.

Oh I know GDS offers that, that's exactly why I'm interested :P And in all honesty, it's nice to have the atmosphere more relaxed than 3bo when you're learning.

And yeah lol, I've seen some of the pics from /obt/. Fun stuff, like full spiritbloom + staff + surgebox lol.

  8. and yeah, i highly encourage ppl to dg with DGS. even theyre not at the level of 3bo/dge in their prime, at the moment i'd say DGS is probably one of the best current dg clans (and the most welcoming one ever).

im sure if you dg'ed with us and talked over skype you'd see that the floors we do are actually a lot of fun. sure, sometimes we'll sound a little blunt when giving advice - because that's the best way to give advice - but overall i would say it's a fun experience.

the reason i say "slow dgs" are for people with bad taste is that all you're really doing with that extra time is skilling. which is very non-interactive - you don't have to click fast or think at all, just sit there and watch your character mine. why do you think people afk ivies? cause, other than the goal-achieving aspect, the vast majority of people find the actual action of skilling to be boring as hell.

That's good news to hear, because although I know I'm far off of the standard for 3bo, I would still consider myself a somewhat decent keyer, and although you can watch videos, nothing compares to having a person in a dungeon, helping you, step by step through each situation, as I think dungeoneering is pretty situational. So I'll be sure to drop in DGS sometime soon (er, what's the cc name in-game?).

About Skype...I don't think I can use it atm, and most of my friends who I dungeoneer with don't use Skype either, so I'm just wondering how big of a difference there is between Skype vs typing in rs?

There are plenty of fun moments in Dungeoneering that don't have to do with experience or the rewards. Or even the dungeon going smoothly. Have you watched two team mates duel for 10+ minutes on a runecrafting puzzle? Or needed a Winter's Grip and grabbed a seed only to find that one of your team mates planted Cave Potatoes everywhere? Or maybe called out the Gravecreeper boss thrice, and have a team mate gear for Necrolord cause he thought you were talking about Gravecreeper trees, and some people were grabbing range gear so he figured the boss must be Necrolord?

I don't see how it's bad taste to not care as much about how fast I'm gaining XP, and be able to laugh at silly mistakes and incidents that occur in the dungeon.

If its just between friends or something, I'm more lenient and relaxed. Sure I'll take all these things and just roll with it and just have fun, but tbh, while I wouldn't get fussed up about this happening every once in a while, I'd get pretty annoyed if these sort of things happened every few dungeons. It just slows everyone down, and well...the joke's only fun until it goes on for too long (old joke is old). Most of the mistakes I get from my team are lag-outs/deaths in GD's, or mess-ups at the boss, and they aren't major so I really couldn't care much if it happened every few dungeons.

  9. per usual: fast dungeons and fun are not mutually exclusive! in fact, when everyone knows what theyre supposed to do, dungeons are a lot less frustrating and fun.

Agreed, and I've found its easier when everyone knows each other, and what they will each do, and we all work together much better that way (friends-only dungeons ftw).

So true, and the only way you'll find out is through trial and error after dunging with people, and if there's a conflict between dungeoneering preferences, simple (and effective) solution is to just get the dungeon over with and agree to never dung again with those people. I mean, sometimes the issue is not so much about knowing what to do, they just simply don't want to do that.

EDIT: nvm, The Ancient summed it up in the post above pretty well. I agree, its just personal preference, but you shouldn't bash either side until you've tried it and given it a fair shot. I've done that, and I've found I prefer a sort of middle road, although I always like to see what tricks and tactics I can use to speed up my dungeons without (in my highly subjective opinion) giving up any fun.

  10. Personally, i try to be as efficient as I can. The moment I feel that doing something, regardless of whether or not it is the more efficient option, makes dungeoneering less enjoyable, that is where I personally draw the line. Basically, I'll be open to trying out things, but once I've tried it and experienced it, I'll make my dungeons as efficient as I can without losing some fun, because in the long run, I will get more out of dungeoneering if I'm having fun and looking forward to doing another dungeon. (ex. I'll rush through rooms that don't need to be cleared, but say there's an altar, I'll clear the room. I'll take my time surging prom/primal warriors to death for drops, I'll key and still help out a bit with killing, I'll abuse GS tele in agility spike room/hard gd's/etc)

Of course, I've found that it is much easier to pull this off if I dungeoneer with friends only, and I've noticed dungeoneering has been much easier to train (and in my point of view, more efficient because I can organize a fairly efficient dungeon beforehand and expect a good amount of exp instead of waiting around for ages on w117/w148 and having to put up with the ragequitters, leechers, AFKers, ignorant people, people who like to just complain endlessly, etc.).

That being said, I really want to at least try DGS, and see if I can learn something new/just have some fun, but unfortunately I'm busy with school this week -.-

  11. One that interests me is whether or not the ashes will be made stackable.... I can't really see many people picking ashes up if they're not. Just the sheer logistics of an abyssal or nech task.... if you wanted the ashes the best way would be to yak bank them; but then you lose healing (not a big deal to some people, but I like my health) and don't forget you'd need between 1 and 250 yak scrolls per task. If they make them stackable it'll finally give ecto something that could rival ashes. If they don't they people'll will just be "meh" and no one will buy on ge and no one will pick up.

A one click, buyable 95/99/200m..? I think you're on to something!

assuming you ecto stackable ashes, that leaves you with enough invy space to do 27 worships at the ectofuntus before you run out of ectoplasm, and since ectoplasm is untradeable, you can't really use a beast of burden. So unless the ashes are a nice bit more exp than d bones/dag bones/frost d bones, it's going to be much slower than gilded altar in the long run. Perhaps it would be of use to 1-summ stakers but that's a very niche use.

  12. Random question to anyone who has a Nex piece:

If you wield your armor, eat normal food, then take off your armor, does your LP stay above 990 and your max LP go to 990 (like a normal person drinking a brew - 1190/990) or does it just go to 990/990

If the latter, what if you drink a brew (not normal food) and then take off your armor?

I'm not sure if this is of any help, but I'm pretty sure KBase says the latter (it goes back to 990/990 instantly). Not sure about if you brew though.

If you use hp cape to boost to 100/99, your lp goes to 1000. I think it slowly restored back but I'm not sure because it was a while ago.

You probably have a hp cape so it's easy to check.

I don't know how it works for LP-boosting gear, but for hp cape, it simply gives +1 LP. Under the old system where HP = LP, that +1 would mean 100/99 hp. Nowdays, it comes out to be 991/990 LP. Personally, I think the reasoning behind it is just lazy coding (not that it matters much, +10 LP is very insignificant, and in any case, there are more useful capes to wear other than hp cape).

  13. Tofraz (3 hours ago)

I need to stop looking at that thread every once in a while so I don't have to listen to all the [developmentally delayed]s lol.

    Tofraz (4 hours ago)

Hi I'm some random person on TIF and I personally know everything about your life even though I actually know nothing about it. KKthxbye.

    Booooo!

I enjoy reading this thread' date=' looking at theories and reading the opinions of the 'elites' As much as i like Zarfot's humour, it would be nice to see him post here on a more serious level for people to enjoy. (...Despite the brown-nosing that will probably occur  )

    [/quote']

    I don't think that is Zarfot's account...

http://forum.tip.it/user/172230-zarfot/ for easy reference to his previous posts in this topic.

I think tofraz is just a name that someone sniped after seeing his YT channel, and is just here to troll.

  14. Man, I'd like some nice scenery, like a high-rise villa....so I'd put my mansion on the very peak of Trollwiess Mountain. Conveniently situated at/on the Mahjarrat Ritual site too, so it should be a fun place for some combat and sledding

edit: And nothing like some wild scenery like a Mahjarrat Ritual..."'skies dripping with venom and fire' and the ground 'twisting into grotesque forms with mouths that chewed at the roots of trees that bled'." And I'll get to say hi to my old friend Azzanadra :shades:

  15. It's been maybe three or four years since I had to enter my credit card details into Runescape's website, so it may have changed, but I remember having to enter in my card number and security code. I don't know why they'd change that.

Aren't those on the card though?

Yup, so it's a pretty dumb thing to ask for security screening (as long as it's the only real security question), but I think the reason why they ask that is because more details like credit card numbers get stolen online rather than physically, so under such circumstances, the thief would have you card number, but (perhaps) not the security code.

I still stand by my opinion that asking dumb questions like that is bad form (as far as validating ID anyways).

EDIT: just had an idea. Why don't they ask one or two of your recovery questions as a security measure for credit card payments? That's a much stronger proof of ID, combined with the current questions.

  16. I'm not quite sure what you mean but I wanted to do a spreadsheet that auto-updated everyone's remaining hours but google spreadsheets has a limit of how many import functions you can have on each spreadsheet. There might be a way around it by linking multiple spreadsheets but I don't care enough to research if and how it can be done.

Couldn't you put several players per sheet, publish that (so you get a link to it), and then, on a separate sheet, just import the final output for each player on each sheet? Or does that still fail to circumvent the import function limit?

That's what I was thinking but I don't know how to link two separate workbooks in google docs.

Neither do I, but I imagine it might be possible if you published the players output sheet (so it has a permanent link), and then, adapting brainymidget's code for pulling GE prices, pull each player's respective outputs (so it's one import function to pull the data from one cell on a sheet accessed through a URL). For the top 15, you would end up with, on the final sheet with all 15 players, 15 import functions.

I haven't tried this myself, so it's just guesswork, but hopefully it might work.

EDIT: maybe you'd be better off talking with brainymidget or grimy bunyip, both of them have worked extensively with google spreadsheets.

  17. Once I buy back spectral, I'll love duo/trio arma gwd with friends (I've solo'd kree before but never liked it too much). I still like solo bandos, although its a bit of a pain with crashers, and I just detest teaming bandos gwd (such a pain to find a world). Honestly, my favorite? Solo Tormented Demons and possibly duo tribrid DK's.

Haven't tried Nex yet, and won't for quite some time at least. I just simply don't have the gear, the summoning lvl, and the cash to spare at the moment.

  18. 19. I haven't had any lucid dreams but...a few times while I was dreaming, I would just suddenly realize I was dreaming, and although my dream would continue beyond my control, I could consciously move around while dreaming. Same with thinking too, although if I tried to actually put any effort into thinking, I would actually wake up immediately.

Not a lucid dream at all, but...an odd dreaming experience all the same.
