So a pretty boring week for me. I tryed the black d'hide as Llavada was getting extra points from the ranged performance, which could have come from wearing D'Hide. It would appear not.
  2. Thanks for that guys! Another location established as having no preferred emotes. (Don't know if that's a good or bad thing, but at least we don't have to do it again at this location.)
  3. Thanks guys! Indeed, and acenator will be interested in this. I have now updated the submission form to ask "Which performances did the audience say something?"
  4. Thanks for the submissions guys! I would think so. This is further backed up by Ram's submission, revealing that shield spot treasure trail items don't give extra points either. Could be some further items you were wearing? Maybe black d'hide also counts? As my naval counted, and that wasn't a TT item, I'd say there were more items. I'll personally try out black d'hide next week. Also, I'm having a new theory about preferred tricks, but not as we know it. However, it is still very vague, and I'm thinking about it some more.
  5. Thread updated with new info. Circus now West of Varrock!

Since I did laugh twice in a row, and we thought that you don't get points for the second emote, I should have got 27 points, but instead, I got 25. This leads me to assume that there's a -5 penalty for doing the same emote. When this was tested earlier, it didn't go lower, but maybe since you only just did 2 emotes, the lowest possible score is 3, and can't go lower. @Ranged Event: I thought that minigame rewards might give you extra clothing points as well, but it would seem that Castle Wars gear at least, doesnt.
  7. Indeed. I did have a theory that jagex had removed the audience from saying anything, as it was a confusing element, that may not have worked as well as hoped. People would follow them, and get less points, than if they didn't follow them and just did high level tricks. Even though the audience saying what to do was removed, the point system from it is still unchanged. (They would think that no-one would notice, as I don't think many people have studied the system in as much depth as we have.) However, as it is still in effect in the Agility performance, I doubt this is the case. I don't think they would remove it just for some performances. As you said, it could be broken. We could possibly inform jagex via a bug report? (They have a new forum for it now, so it could be easier.) To be honest, I was a bit confused as to what you were doing this week with the ranged performance. My impression of the repetition bonus, was that you got 10 extra points if you did another trick of the same level, but not exactly the same trick. (Like your handstand (lvl 40) and juggle knives (lvl 40) trial that you did.) What you were doing this week didn't repeat anything of the same level did it? I realise that you may have been trying to get the bonus by using the same weapon, but I think you might get a bonus for doing e.g Target (Lvl 10) and Popenjay (Lvl 10). This is just my understanding of things, so maybe you could clarify it a bit for me? #-o Thanks for pointing that out.
  8. Lol acenator, you've done it again. Posted as I was writing this. (I was about to post before you, but got a bit distracted making a spreadsheet for the preferred tricks.) Wow! Thanks for all these submissions guys! We seem to have concluded that there sometimes are no preferred emotes at certain locations. Don't worry about this. As we have found no trace of preferred emotes in any of the other 2 performances, and we have done all emotes for those, I highly doubt there'd be a preferred emote just for mage, and just the one you missed out. Also, can I count on you and your son continuing to assist us? We can give you set instructions as to what to do each week. Good to see we might have a theory here. However, with performing what the audience requests, I have found from past experience that they do not seem to call out anymore. I haven't seen them saying anything other that "Come on, do SOMETHING!", for a long time, and have wondered if Jagex has removed this element. It was always confusing people, as they tryed to follow what the audience said, but never got many points, thus deterring them from using the audience. Jagex may have stopped the audience from saying so, but could have left the points in the system? NOTE: We had a submission from SportsGuy who wrote down what the audience said. He found that the audience did say what to do in the Agility performances, but not any others. Have you found they only say what to do in some performances? Do you have any other Treasure Trail items that you could wear in weeks to come, to trial this theory? I can try as well, but the more people that do, the better.
  9. Ah, you've got me now... i can't remember.. But as i took the stuff in my inventory and did the mage event before the ranged event, it's very possible that i talked to the mage assistant, put on the mage clothing, and then later changed into the ranged gear and then talked to the ranged assistant Will have to check out this matter at the next circus! This is interesting... i'm thinking... IF (and this is uncertain) tricks are more likely to succeed when wearing performance-boosting clothing (weight reduction for Agility and attack bonus for Magic & Ranged) THEN people could maximise points by putting on the circus gear to talk to the assistant, remove it, put on the performance-boosting clothing and then do the event OK, well you can check your theories now. Circus is now East of Varrock!
  10. OK, thanks. This week, there is no rush for you, as we will wait to see what data comes in from the others, and then decide what you should do. (I update down the bottom of the main post what each helper should be doing, so just look there if you're unsure.) ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Username: Mattie9999 Location of Circus: East of Varrock What were you wearing?: Scythe (nothing else) Agility Event Description: 10x Emotes (1x Yes, 1x No, 1x Bow, 1x Angry, 1x Think, 1x Wave, 1x Shrug, 1x Cheer, 1x Beckon, 1x Laugh) Agility Event Points: 30 What were you wearing?: Blue Naval Shirt and Slacks (nothing else) Mage Event Description: 10x Emotes (1x Yes, 1x No, 1x Bow, 1x Angry, 1x Think, 1x Wave, 1x Shrug, 1x Cheer, 1x Beckon, 1x Laugh) Mage Event Points: 40 What were you wearing?: Blue Naval Shirt (nothing else) Ranged Event Description: 10x Emotes (1x Yes, 1x No, 1x Bow, 1x Angry, 1x Think, 1x Wave, 1x Shrug, 1x Cheer, 1x Beckon, 1x Laugh) Ranged Event Points: 35 So I've clarified that blue naval shirt and slacks were the two items that gave me extra points. 5 from each. It clarifies that some non-circus-given-out items do give extra points, but I am yet to see a possible pattern in the items that do.
  11. Thanks for that! Can we count on your help in weeks to come? (We can give you instructions as to what to do.) This info helps confirm that the preferred emote isn't a mime emote, and raises the question even further:
  12. Cool, thanks for that Sheepi! This info now raises an intersting point. Does each location always have a preferred emote? We have gone through almost every emote this week, and none of them seems to be preferred (as we know it.) Locations could alternate between having a preferred emote and trick?
  13. Acenator's last question is very valid there, as I think the clothing bonus is taken from as soon as you talk to the assistant to start your performance (if you wear a mega-phonus while starting the ranged performance, but then remove it later on to wield a weapon, you still get the held circus item bonus). So if you came to the circus wearing ranged gear, did the ranged performance first, and then went onto the next performance and started it before you changed into the next clothes, the points for wearing those clothes may not have been counted. Either way, thank you very much for continuing to answer out questions. :) Indeed. I have changed the submitting info form to say "what were you wearing?" as opposed to "wearing full circus gear?"
  14. Yup, thanks from me too SportsGuy! Yea I would prefer this if you don't mind. Just a clarification: Was this a succeed? In all of the other tricks, you stated whether it was successful or not. In case you were wondering, you helped narrow down most likely a preferred trick in the ranged performance, and highlighted some unclear areas that we need to work on. Thanks again! :D
  15. Well, that is very interesting. Special thanks for this part. I do have a revised theory as to how this could work though (don't quote me on this later on though, could easily be wrong): There are 5 clothing spots that are worth an extra 5 points each if something relevant is worn. This could be circus-given-out items, or items that give a bonus to that skill. These 5 spots would be the same as the spots that circus items can be worn in: Helmet/Hat Body Legs Boots Weapon - this one I'm not totally sure on, as with the ranged event you have to wield a weapon from the event. Were you wearing any ranged weapons as you started the ranged event? Either that, or the unholy book could have counted as this. Hopefully you understood my gist there.
  16. :( Hmm... sounds like you had an unfortunate time there. Confirming the -15 points for repeating the same thing is still progress though.
  17. Thanks again frigg for your regular contributions. OK, it's good that you told me the quest cape part. It will help eliminate things when I try again next week. @acenator: I think you should carry on with your repetition bonuses work that you were doing. That work is probably more important at this stage, as we may start to get descriptions of full events, so a better understanding of repetition boneses would be helpful. Also, I don't think we have enough people specifically helping figure out the preferred emotes are this week, so your circus performances would be better used there. I think you should probably only help if I find a preferred emote in my 10 emotes, before anyone else helping has done their 10. That way we might just have enough to figure out a preferred emote. Also, do you know why my image as been blocked due to abuse? I did exactly what I've done before, and it's worked fine.
  18. Sorry I'm a bit late getting back to you. #-o I think this is the best idea. While we're not directly finding out exactly what we want, as long as the description is accurate, we should be able to break down exactly what gave which points, and if there are any irreguluarities, this could lead to the discovery of a preferred trick/emote. Remember the order in which you do things is important, as well as exactly what emote you did, so as much info as possible would be appreciated! Thanks again. P.S Post your results in this thread, and use the format suggested.
  19. Thread updated with new info. ^ As said, circus is now at Lumbridge.
  20. Yes, there is a slowly growing group of people who are regularly contributing to the research. And I would be very happy if you would help us. However, I was under the impression that you like to gain exp. This is fine, and you can still contribute by submitting a description of the things you did in your performace, and how many points you got. If you are willing to give up your exp, I can give you instructions each week of what to do (usually a set of emotes). Also, if possible, don't wear anything at all on you. I now realise that there may be some non-circus-given-out items that could affect the points if worn. (Probably why you got an extra point before.) Either way, thanks again for supporting this research.
  21. Well! I may not have figured out a preferred emote, but I may have found something very interesting! Username: Mattie9999 Location of Circus: Lumbridge Wearing full circus gear?: No Agility Event Description: 10x Emotes (1x Yes, 1x No, 1x Bow, 1x Angry, 1x Think, 1x Wave, 1x Shrug, 1x Cheer, 1x Beckon, 1x Laugh) Agility Event Points: 30 Mage Event Description: 10x Emotes (1x Yes, 1x No, 1x Bow, 1x Angry, 1x Think, 1x Wave, 1x Shrug, 1x Cheer, 1x Beckon, 1x Laugh) Mage Event Points: 40 Ranged Event Description: 10x Emotes (1x Yes, 1x No, 1x Bow, 1x Angry, 1x Think, 1x Wave, 1x Shrug, 1x Cheer, 1x Beckon, 1x Laugh) Ranged Event Points: 40 You'll notice that I got an extra 10 points in the mage and ranged events, yet I did exactly the same emotes in the same order. The difference? What I was wearing. While I wasn't wearing any circus items (given from the ringmaster), but in the mage and ranged events, I was wearing my typical outfit, which looks like this: (I'm wearing Sailor's hat, blue naval shirt and slacks, boots of lightness, (mithril) gloves, amulet of glory (4), magic skill cape (t), and wielding a scythe.) This leads me to believe that one or more of the items I was wearing gave some sort of bonus. When doing the agility event, I did not wear any items at all, like I usually do, and this gave me the usual points. I have come across something like this when Sportsguy first helped me. He got 29 points from doing an emote (with circus gear, so -25 equalling 4.) Most likely, there are some non-circus given out items, that give a bonus, and I feel that the items most likely were my scythe (maybe holiday items), or my skill cape. I don't know if we should be delving into this sort of thing just yet, but I can do some research on it when I do my set emotes each week. (Like wear a few less of those items, etc.) @ acenator: I have been doing some messaging around a few people and stuff, and we may now have another 4 people helping us specifically. :) (We'll see how many contribute this week.)
  22. Awesome, thanks Poke! You've helped us by eliminating preferred emotes, which means that all 3 of the preferred are now limited to the last 13 possible emotes. (Unless there's something else that could possibly be in effect, like alternating between having preferred emotes and then preferred tricks. They might not have both at the same location.) Can we count on your continued support with submitting info Poke? It would be greatly appreciated. And also, is there any chance that we could get the main thread stickied, so as to gain (one would hope) more support? I don't know if you have any say in that sort of thing, but if you don't, possibly pass it on? Just a request. I'm doubtful that it would actually happen, but I would be very happy if it did!
  23. This may be the upgrade year, but damn it's looking good for quests. i cant wait! even though so far they have only done quests for my 2nd least favorit(goblin) and the fremmy one doesn't look that good at all i was hoping for an isles extention. but i'm just glad the elves arn't getting anything soon. i dont like those quests. Sorry if I'm not contributing directly to main purpose of thread: While 2009 was labelled as the "update" year, quest storylines can be "updated" can't they? If we look at what was said in the Behind the Scenes 2009 main post at the start of they year, this was said: So I wouldn't be surprised if we got several questline continuations, especially the older ones. (Like we now know that we'll have a new Dwarf quest, due the the DD released on it - this is the most left alone questlines, the last quest being released on 26 July 2005. What's more, it said is was "part 2" hinting that more parts would be added soon...)
  24. Well the message has now moved to my sent items, so we can only hope Pokemama has read it, and plans to post soon. I noticed that with certain help wanted threads (like the Soul Wars thread), they've been stickied. I wonder if we could possibly get Pokemama to ask for this? Also, I've added what you said to the main post, as some people may not read the latest posts. P.S Did you want me to bump the thread? Or do you want to leave your post at the end? Or I guess you can bump it. You decide.
  25. OK, seems like you have it covered in your plans there, and I've added the base emotes that me, frigg and Poke will do each week. However, if the someone finds the preferred emote in their 10 before the others have done theirs, then we will have to direct the others to do 5 emotes and then 2/3 emotes in that set, to narrow down the options. I think another person would come in handy here, as I don't think 3 is quite enough if we're to try and get the preferred emote each week. (Which would be ideal - waiting 12 weeks for the circus to visit that location again is quite a hinderance). I guess that could become you at some stage, but I think we should leave you to your repetition bonuses work. So I look forward to seeing if you can get any responses to your efforts that you plan to do. (BTW, if there's anything you want me to add to the main post/title, just say.) P.S I haven't had much experience with the TIF PM system. Pokemama has been talking to me via that, and when replying, I submit what I'm saying and it goes to the Outbox. It seems to stay there with (1) next to it. I feel I should be doing something else, as usually with things like that in E-Mail, it goes to sent items after sending/receiving. Have I done this correctly? (I.e is Pokemama able to get what I supposedly sent) Was just wondering if you knew.
