  1.

in your most honest opinions, do you think runescape has been made into such a dreaded grindfest?

Most definitely, if only because of the lack of anything else to do. I've been playing for a little over two years. I've already done most of the easy to intermediate quests worth doing already, and I don't feel like spending a ton of time on the higher level quests just to unlock a few extra things I place little value on anyway.

Currently i'm working on crafting 10k nats for alching. I like to do things myself, so i'm going to be cutting the logs too, which I know will take a very very long time. I'm not even sure why I bother. When I finally get my money I won't know what to do with it anyway.

I haven't trained combat or done much fighting in awhile, because from my perspective trying to raise my combat level any further right now is just pointless (partly because I'm not the type of person that particularly enjoys taking on high level monsters, and partly because of Jagex forcing everyone to use Lootshare).

I've quit for weeks at a time, but for some reason I keep coming back. I think it's because one day i'll hope i'll be rich enough to call myself a "high level". The problem I don't know what "high level" is. When I was level 3 I thought that I had to be level 30 to be considered a high level, and when I got to that level I decided the number was 60. And now, with my combat being only 85, I still don't consider myself even being close to being a high level.

  2. I had a thought...Perhaps they could impliment this system.

The system of trading would be based off of your total level. Which means the higher you're total level is, the more room you have to work with.

With each incriment of 10 levels a character increases, the more room they have with the wealth system.

    Example:

Character A is total level 30. He can trade and lose or gain 5k in any trade. So if A wants to buy a rune woodcutting axe (Let's say the axe's price in the GE is 11k-13k), he must offer between 5k of the minimum and maximum of the GE prices (IE: 6k-16k).

Character B is a total level 1900. He can trade and lose or gain 1.25M in any trade.

As of right now, I'm to tired to elaborate on that system. Let me know if I have something going there.

You do. Alot of people have come up with the same idea. Personally I think there should be a wider limit for the really high levels.

Unfortunately I don't think Jagex ever thought of this. <.<

  3. I don't think runescape resembles real life enough for there to be a very accurate representation of its form of government in real life.

The only thing that I think would really apply is a libertarian/authoritarian scale (with Jagex's recent updates they've become VERY authoritarian).

  4. Is there any way that JaGex can keep people happy?

It may look like everyone is about to quit, but in the long term, the game will still be going strong (not saying I agree with his update).

Though I can say for certain that runescape will never be the same.

Is there any way we can avoid these updates and make them understand that we don't want these updates, and they need to pose a better solution to the RWT problem?

I have tried that for almost a year. I doubt you or anyone else will be able to make any headway, especially when you consider how long it took them to do this.

Again, in no way am I supporting Jagex on this. I think getting rid of the free market (in a game at least :-w ) is a bad idea. And I doubt this will get rid of the goldfarmers. They'll probably just turn to hacking accounts or something.

  5. Mk... so it's bad to keep guns from someone with the attention span of a hamster? Or someone who thinks they're still in 'Nam? Guns are dangerous enough in normal hands, not to mention people with medical conditions... (or "medical" when it comes to ADHD) And the G.A.P. law would deny a gang member from getting a gun? Call me crazy, but I think that's a good thing...

Maybe its just me, but I don't see every kid with ADHD going out and shooting someone...

  6. Global warming is just a scam guys. The only thing even close to powerful enough to affect the Earth's climate right now is the Sun, not oil plants.

Well, I do kinda believe that, we can't exactly be helping the environment right now, can we?

No, I suppose not. I'd much rather be on nuclear power than oil. I'm just very irritated that politicians are trying to use global warming as an excuse to tax everyone.

  7.

For the people who actually bother to read that article, you'll see the link's title is completely innaccurate.

    Nevertheless, ouch. He got served.

Sorry bout that, did this in a rush.

second link doesn't say anything about anybody getting tasered Confused

Just look down and read the story. It should be there.

EDIT: I'm really sorry about all the innacuracies. What happened was I read about the second incident on one website and went to their local news site to link the article. I didn't know it was the wrong one. Just a moment, and i'll link it to the article I read.

  8. Meh, just curious. :-w

This thread applies to anyone here, even if you're not a US citizen. Tell me who do you want in the white house and why.

Debate on here if you want, but this is meant to be an experiment. I don't wnat to just know who you support, I want to know the reasons. Also if you don't know/lost confidence in the government also post.

EDIT: Incase you're wondering, my support is firmly rested with Ron Paul, for several reasons:

    (1) He's a constitutionalist, and would never consciously approve of any law that encroached on the people's basic rights, not even in the face of terrorism.

    (2) He will get rid of all the waste of government, and concentrate only on things that need to be done. I once heard him question why we paid to bomb bridges in Iraq, rebuild them, and leave the bridges at home rotting. :P

    (3) He will cut down on spending big time, and abolish the income tax. :D

    (4) He's not corrupt and tyrannical like all the other politicians in Washington. He's never once taken money from a corporate lobbyist, either.

    (5) He is going to follow George Washington's warning not to get entangled in foreign alliances by pulling out all troops, not just in Iraq in Afghanistan, but in all foreign countries.

    (6) After decades of debate, he's finally going to put up a fence at the border. :D

Basically, the exact opposite of Big Brother, which is what America needs.

Go to his campaign site for more information.

  9. Owned.

I don't see why the police needed to take him out in the first place. Sure he was being provocative and insulting but he was doing it to a politician who should have taken it in his stride and just answered the question. No need for that whole scene.

    +1

When I watched it awhile ago it looks like Kerry was about to answer the question, but I guess the testosterone took over when it came to stifling "civil disobedience".

  10. Hm, let's try to use a philosophical approach to this topic :D .

    Using a few moral theories...

    Utilitarianism (Maximum happiness):

    - Yes, scamming the scammers should be acceptable.

    - Most people don't like being scammed. (Even scammers don't like being scsammed themselves)

    - However, the population of non-scammers is higher than scammers.

    - Therefore, we should go with the non-scammers, and scam the scammers since it brings about maximum happiness.

Golden Rule (Do unto others what you want others to do to you):

    - No, we shouldn't scam scammers.

    - Other people definitely don't want you to scam them.

    - So we shouldn't scam people?

... And this includes not scamming scammers?

Too lazy to type out others. Any comments?

    Golden Rule ftw.

  11. It's interesting that Jagex goes to great lengths to remove youtube videos when all the top cheating sites remain untouched.

They only remove vids that violate in-game rules.

I'm not entirely sure that's true. Every once in a while I see rant threads on the RSOF complaining about how Jagex is removing simple PK videos. Really stupid place to talk about it though.

  12. Maintaining a war means you need amunition, supplies, etc. Which means that there will be more jobs in weapons factories. It was good, but only because no one bombed the US at all.

I suppose the current wars are similar (oil profits skyrocketed after the invasion  ).

  13. Yeaaah... Your economy is [bleep] up because of the war..

The war has nothing to do with it. The reason we're going under is because over the years China has been slowly robbing us of our manufacturing base. It won't be long before we have nothing significant at all except an extremely strong military.

In Economics today we were told under Bill Clinton the economy was so strong that they could have wiped out income tax if they wanted to but under Bush he has kinda messed it up :P Seems that it was true

America survived for over a hundred years without an income tax. I don't see why we couldn't now. And if all those politicians wouldn't overspend and get us into huge debts America would be a much happier place.

Back before they started the federal reserve in the early 1900s, the government payed for its services through hidden taxes (which I believe it still does now :| )

  14. In the conflict we're currently having, on one side is Jagex and a small group of so-called "macro killers", and on the other side we have an even smaller group (though very powerful) group of goldfarmers. A lot of people in runescape aren't committed to this game, or they really don't know/care about the probems bots have on the game. Hence, they will completely disregard you.

Another reason is that they may know how futile it is to try to stop macroers the way you're doing (seriously guys, it really is a waste of time :? ).

Or maybe they don't even realize what you're doing.

  15. So to become a mod all you would need is have some good connections? Oh please, we already have enough of that irl @__>
No, all you would need is, good connections, a good attitude, proven accuracy in your reports, a high experience lvl and a clean record.

    currently:

all of which except connections and experience are required. the two left out can go either way.

Meh, I think it's mostly luck, just like everything in rs :P (though not for RSOF mods. To be a mod there all you have to do is to have good grammar, post a lot, and agree with Jagex's policies almost every single time)

  16. It's good that this is happening. We're one day closer to removing people like Al Gore from the classroom. :D

I also think it's good that students will have some freedom of opinion in public schools instead of getting mindlessly fed propaganda.
