  1. this is exactly what I mean, smithing is no longer worth it with the price of coal the way it is. What I was saying is that you get far too much more experience smithing steel than you do mithrill and addy, and since coal is 200 each, it makes it completely unworth the effort, it should give more experience, at least as much per bar as steel gives... It's just so much easier to make money with other skills such as fletching now. To make money off of fletching, all you have to do is click on a tree once and you wait untill it falls down and you go to the next, with mining you have to continuosly change rocks for every ore mined, plus it's far more competetive than wc. Flax and bowstrings are also cheaper than coal, and you only need 1 per bow! you need a minimum of 2 coal for the lowest bar requiring coal! It sucks! I think smithing is a skill that is being neglected, mining as well, we don't even have a dragon pickaxe! Think, the last update in mining was pickaxes of different metal, after woodcutting had had different axes for ages. By the time you can make cannon balls and gold bars for jewelry, theres no use untill rune... THIS SKILL NEEDS IMPROOVING TO BRING IT BACK TO IT'T RS1 GLORY!
  2. Has anyone else noticed that the better you can smith the more ripped off you are? With coal prices on their way to being 200 gp each (a far cry from the antique price of 100 each I remember...) it's important to consider your profit of alching verses selling the coal you get, or not buying coal... We all know that the major profit comes from being able to smith rune, but for us not so great smiths, we have to take profits when we can, or settle for just exp. So, using the friendly Tip.it site, I looked up how much experience I got for smelting and smithing addy items. 100 each. I compared that and the 6 pieces of coal possibly worth 200 each with mithrill, and found that not only will I not get any major profit with addy untill much later on, but the experience is worse than mith!!! :wall: What really burned is that I looked and found that the experience per coal is even better with steel than mith, but I cant make any profit with that! I know the reason behind there being less experience per coal with the later metals than with steel is most likely that there is greater profit from these items, but with the coal price being what it is, I fail to see how it's worth it. does anyone agree that there should be a bit more experience given for making mith, adamant, and maybe even rune items?
