My favorite book is The Walking Drum by Louis L'Amour. It's pretty much about a guy trying to find his father, set in 12th century Europe and the Middle East. My favorite series is The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. The story follows the life of a boy named Eragon, who becomes a dragon rider and joins a rebel group called the Varden, and proceeds to help them battle the Empire. (the third book is scheduled for release on the 20th of September.)
