  1. I actually happen to have that exact power supply in my rig right now, and it's worked fine since December. The 24-pin motherboard connector cable is kind of short, but more than enough for my case. It comes with a bunch of stuff, including a pencil case (which I'm using now at school, only one guy has figured out what OCZ is).

About the alternative PSU: I always say to get a good brand name, as a cheap one can decide to break and mess up your whole system. If you don't need the 50 watts or the $20, I'd say to go with the OCZ one.

I'll just leave this article here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-oem-manufacturer,2913.html

  2. I've had the CM Storm for a couple years (69.99 on the list) and it's just about the best mouse I've ever used. The driver software is pretty fun to play around with, and it has lights you can change the colours of, though the other mice might have that too. Mice are fairly subjective, so make sure you can try out the mouse before you buy it or return it easily if you don't like it.

  3. Well, the fact that RS isn't working on multiple computers points to something either wrong with your connection or all of those computers deciding to not work all at once. Just so we can rule out the second option, do you have another connection you could use (friend's wi-fi, local library or school) to make sure it's not the computers?

EDIT: when you look at your posts after you've posted them, there should be a "edit" button in the bottom-right corner. If you could use that instead of multi-posting, it'd be nice.

  4. Op already says he only knows the TV is a samsung, not the model number.

When kafei says "vendor" he means company that made your variation of the video card, like ASUS or MSI or something like that.

DVI ports are rectangular, usually whiteish beige with a bunch of pin holes on the left, and a cross-like thing on the right. Some variates also have pins around the cross-thing. VGA is trapezoid-shaped, blue and has 15 pins.

  5. A google search shows that VGA cables technically no limit, so it is probably either your computer or the tv, but everything seems good on your computer's end. If you have another monitor kicking around, you should hook that up and see what happens.

How are you trying to enable the higher resolution? You might have to play around a bit with your tv's settings to get it to work.

Also, it'd be nice if we could have the name of the tv, so we can see if it's one of those derpy ones that likes to stay at a lower resolution even if it technically can do 1080p.

  6. I can see it now.

Lawyer: "He was a good man. He left his family all his financial assets to divide evenly. His spouse was left the house as well. And his best friend "pr0 h4x 901" gets his runescape account password and all his runescape possessions."

Crowd: "Aaaaaawwweeeeeee......how sweet. Wait, wtf? He bequeathed a dude his video game account?"

I mean, I cannot imagine why anyone would. That would almost seem like an insult, at least to me.

    OR:

To my family; I'm sorry I wasted spent all my money on online games, but now you can have the accounts to remember me by!

    Username: Pr0 h4x 901

    Password: *censored*

That would be a great troll.

  7. Just a quick point- That hard drive is a 6gb/s model, which the motherboard doesn't support, so it'd run at 3 gb/s.

Seems Samsung's spinpoint f4s have gone up by about $40 since last time I checked, so I can't reccomend that.

I've heard good things about Hitachi's drives, and they have a pretty cheap terabyte drive with a 32mb cache, which is kind of like RAM for your hard drive. It's only $15 more for 3x the capacity.

Go 64-bit or don't bother building, and you might be able to go without the optical drive for a month or two if you don't use game disks.

As others have said, an extra hundred or two would go a long ways towards getting you a better computer.

I noticed that, but it was the cheapest 320gb drive anyways. The Hitachi cheap 1tb drive is only 5200RPM iirc, so would be a bad choice for a boot drive.

You sure? The link seems to be broken (maybe because they bumped the price up $5), so I'll re-up it.

The one linked there is 7.2k RPM.

    EDIT:

seems the Egg doesn't like that link either. Search this on their site: HDS721010CLA332

Anyone willing to tell me how to use hide tags? This quote chain is kinda big.

  8. I'd just like to add that if you happen to have a soldering iron and some solder (or a store you could pick some up at) nearby, you might be able to resolder the connections without putting the card in your oven.

GTS 450s are nice, I'm using one now (from zotac).

  9. Here, putting together a $300 one for you that may be a bit better for video editing.

    <snip dat pic>

This will be a solid build. You can pick another case, this was just the cheapest one with solid reviews. It comes in to just under $300, but doesn't include Win7. You can either:

    - Pay $99 for the OEM copy of Windows 7 64bit

    - Use Linux

    - If you have the XP cd from your old computer, use it

  10. Chaos dwarf encampment. You might lose a little bit of money though if you're unlucky.

    And dung.

do you mean the chaos dwarves at the battlefield? can i even safespot those?

You have to be kind of carefull, but you can pray against the cannoneers and safespot the other dwarfs. Eventually they'll lose aggression and you can kill any of them effortlessly.

Blue dragons are also easily safespotable, but have relatively high mage def but you won't lose very much.

oh contrare my friend, blue dragons actually have a low mage defence even though they are a leather dragon.

I had trouble hitting greens with ahrims+surge+stream+c staff lol.

Have you ever tried maging blues? if not u should, they have lower mage defence than other leathers for some reason.

I actually haven't, but that would seem incredibly odd.

I dont know why but i started maging them from 85 to 90 mage just for the fun of it (and for the d bones) and i was hitting them fairly often.

what spells/gear should i use at blue drags? i'll prolly be maging them at the membs dungeon once i get a few more agility levels :P

I wore Ahrims Top/Bottom, Farseer helm, Glory, Staff of Light, Zamorak Cape (from Mage Arena), Infinity/Mystic Boots, Barrows Glves, Unholy book, Seers Ring. Im not sure what spell to use as i used water surge and still managed to break even on the hides/bones/drops.

You should use an arc stream too.

Agree'd, only reason i didnt use one at the time as dung hadnt been released yet.

Just felt like adding to one of the longest quote chains I've ever seen.

haha at this rate its going to be the never ending quote chain

Can we just turn this into a quote chain thread?

Just wanted to get my name on here...

Lol i think this is the longest quote chain i've seen since i joined these forums :P

Agreed. And just remembered that blue dragons are now swarmed with botters, so it might not be the best anymore.

Yea i didnt realize they were that swarmed until i went down there earlier just for laughs.

What's that? Longest quote chain ever?

    Challenge accepted!

  11. @ SSD cards

I'm pretty sure they're just ssds built to use a PCI interface instead of a SATA one, maybe because of bottlenecking or something.

I'm not familiar with that certain family of SSD, but I hear OCZ's Vertex 3s are just about the best, although a quick search on the Egg shows they start at 90GB and $200.

  12. @above:

IE has something like 60% of the browser market share, if only because it comes preinstalled on most PCs.

OT: Macs are great at what they do (multimedia stuff), but don't really have an advantage over PCs in other everyday stuff like schoolwork.

From your post, it seems the only multimedia thing you would be doing would be a bit of photo editing, so I'd reccomend a pc, just because you can get significantly better value in your price range, (which is, let's not forget, $1000-$1500).

    I'd reccomend something from ASUS.

I guess you might be planning to bring your laptop to lectures to take notes, but if not, I would definitely suggest a desktop PC, that you would (if you're comfortable) build yourself or have a friend help you build.

  13. Mostly what the above posters have said. if you need 100k for a level, and start without a goal in that skill, each 1% will be 1k exp.

However, if you already had a goal and you update it, the exp you had towards the level will already count. For example, we'll say you need 200k for a level, but have already trained 100k of that exp, your goal will start at 50% done.

  14. Well, this is the second update in a row I could have easily made a ton of cash on, but missed out on.

Just yesterday, I gave up superheating 3.2k mith bars, and sold all of the materials.

Less than 8 hours later, I see this update on the front page. Herp derp.

That said, this could have been a great update if jaggyflax didn't insist on pioneering useless updates, instead of fixing broken ones.
