  1. cannon them in taverly dung.

But you can't use the agility shortcut, so banking will be cumbersome or inefficient. That is a serious crime in runescape nowadays.

If it isn't crowded you can turn taverly in fake multi. Just stay/range them from behind a rock. The cannon will target all that are near. Voila. Fake multi. No damage is taken.

Once in a while run to your cannon to fill it up, and pick up the crimsons. run back for cover.

(disclaimer: it used to work. Haven't done it this way since I upgraded my skills).

  2. One year to develop a full MMO? I highly doubt it, even the best companies in the world with thousands working on a game could barely pull that off. I wouldn't expect anthing like it until 2013 at the earliest.

Perhaps they could use the failed "Mechscape" as a basic model?

What happened to mechscape? I am still waiting for that one.

  3. You can lay of the sarcasm.

You are not special. I also got 99 slayer before chaotics. I did a large chunk of the slayer exp before summoning as well. I did till 80 without guthans. etc. I started slaying when it came out.

I actually started skilling after reaching 99 slayer + the occiasional slay to break the grind. No boss hunting.

And no, I don't have anything imbued or a chaotic.

So maybe not everybody does or is as you two assume.

I actually thought this forum was there to give people different perspectives.

  4. What would be a good weapon swap for rapier? I don't have 80 dungeonering, or should i get 80?

and don't forget you have to multiply the time you dung by 20k-??k for time lost slayering. Same for imbuing rings.

So if you lose 100 hours getting stuff that is "essential" [sic] you miss out on 2M-?M slayer exp and a ~60M+ in drops.

If you like dunging this isn't a problem. If you are only into slayer it might be. Depends on personal preference.

You might think you need the rapier later for other stuff, or you want to continue leveling dung to 85 for frosties. Then it might be wiser to invest time in dung.

  5. Still waiting for my fruit trees to grow. It's been almost 16 hours now, they should take 14.6

    JAGEX ***ED ME AGAIN!

I'm pretty sure that's just your mistake, seeing as tree grow time fluctuates (they can still become diseased, and when they do they lose a cycle of growth even if the farmer cures them). Between 6 fruit trees and that many growth cycles it's not surprising that some take 2 hours extra. It's why I normally give them ~20 hours. :\

I supercomposted mine and paid the farmers to take care of them -- all grew in less than 12 hours.

That's because there is a chance they get diseased.

    And a chance they don't.

  6. Leech strength > leech defence really. Also, what does using extremes have to do with it?

If you are going to leech strength you should use stick with piety.

Less defense of the monster means you hit more accurately and harder. So unless you are facing weak monsters leech defense is better.

Extremes are mentioned because they make a huge difference in accuracy and strength. It is part of the strategy.

Also, you will not want to have a healing familiar, because otherwise you should just use piety. You want a combat familiar. (Or a Bob for profit). It means that defense suddenly becomes more important. You are getting a 4-fold effect. Hit better, more protection. Being able to use a combat familiar. And use SS for healing.

    So...

    leech defense > leech strength.

Unless you are facing weak monsters.

I actually slayered a million slayer xp with just leech curses and SS. So I am actually speaking from experience instead of opinion.

Or you just follow the crowd, wear prossy, use melee protect, piety. But the topic of the thread is uses of SS.

If you want to slayer efficiently with SS, you can. But you will have to use your brain and examine and experiment with each task in order to find out which leech is best. Mostly defense leech is preferable in my opinion. I wouldn't range or mage leech because it is usually better just to switch to normal spell book (if you range slayer).

But I wouldn't use curses at all unless you have access to a good combat familiar: that might start with wolpertinger.

And don't forget you can switch quite easily between regular prayer book and curses with the dig site pendant.

But naturally turmoil is king. Once you turmoil you cannot go back. And the essence of SS is that you can use combat familiars. If that is your thing I think that nobody should advice you against trying it out for a while.

  7. Feel free to use SS for slayer. You can use leech defense as an alternative for piety. Not so good, but if you use extremes it is still nice. Especially if you then use combat familiars or bobs, instead of the usual bunyip for healing.

SS can be real fun on slayer tasks!

  8. Regarding random events:

Most companies have moved their call centers to India because it is cheap. Why not let such a 'cheap' call center control the randoms.

There is a human behind each random. In India. A real person who will have an actual job.

For instance: identify this object. It already exist as a random, but why not put a human behind it who can change the picture at will, and when he suspects a bot continue to ask questions.

The picture could be changed on a daily basis, or even an hourly basis. And the community would actually have an increase in the feeling that they are playing a mmorpg.

    I see 3 benefits:

    1. you create jobs in places that can use jobs.

    2. you make the random flexible and harder to beat.

    3. you increase the mmorpg'ishness of the game.

  9. small suggestion:

In real life javelins are one of the most feared weapons. In the hands of a skilled javelin thrower the javelin is the supreme penetrating weapon.

Not in runescape of course. Javelins are junk there.

Add the slayer ability to put broad tips on addy/rune javelins and make them kick ass.

Or special new slayer javelins of which you can buy the ability to make them and where you need a high smithing and slayer level. And immediately we have a decent high-end smithing update anticipated by many.

    So many possibilities.

    ----

To be honest, slayer is one of the best developed skills in my opinion. The last slayer update was already quite powerful: effigies.

  10. Fire giants are the strongest giants, well known for their excellent combat and Slayer experience, and also their reasonably good Gold Charm drop rate.

Like all giants, they have high life points but low defence for their combat level, but they can hit up to 116 life points of damage per hit.

    http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Fire_giant

Unless the wiki is completely [cabbage], I am starting to believe you are not being objective here.

  11. If you can get 250/hr, they are only 27500 slayer xp/hr. Which is rather low, considering your expected average is over 40k (at 93+ slayer). Add to that their low effigy drop rate (1/1k or so), pityful charms (golds) and general bad loot (rune scimitar) you got a perfect block task.

Of course if you can get 250/hr with a steel, the charm drops are not very relevant, but I'd expect you to care about effigies by those levels.

trolling is unbecoming of you quyneax

You call it trolling, I call it joking :P.

I don't know. I would still collect gold charms if I had your summoning level. I wouldn't write them off yet.

And I think the experience of slaying fire giants depends on your level. If you are maxed, have turmoil, extremes, and an iron/steel titan the task flies by.

And what makes it even more enjoyable is that there always seems to be a lower level slayer in the CT doing fire giants, and for some reason they always want to talk (well, roughly half the tasks).

And what's even nicer for your ego is that you usually do 3 or 4 fire giants when they do 1. Even your titan seems to be able to kill them faster than they do.

I love fire giants. Because they allow me to use the one aspect of runescape I really got to love: the combat familiar.

Hit a fire giant. Target the fire giant with your titan. Hit next fire giant. Activate iron within scroll. let titan kill the other fire giant. Kill your own fire giant. Move to next. Familiar killed the other fire giant. Target your fire giant with titan. Move to next fire giant yourself. etc.

I love it when you get into the flow of efficient killing with a titan.

For this reason alone I would never cancel a fire giant task.

I guess wolpertinger would probably be the lowest combat familiar to make it a fun task. And you would need of course a powerful way of healing like soulsplit in order to do fire giants like this because often several giants are on you at the same time.

As for the loot: Slayer is not a good money maker to start with.

But I have to be completely honest here of course. I don't slay for experience. I have 15M+ slayer experience already. I slay for fun to break the monotony of grinding other stuff.
