  1. Wow, thanks for all of the quick responses.... I think I will buy a SS and a Whip (already planned on this). Another couple of questions; Currently I am a zerker pure with 45 def; I think I'm going to bring my def up to 70 for barrows, so I was wondering, what does everyone think about using just.... rune..... til 70 def? It shouldn't take that long especially with an abysal whip, hence my questions. I've already started looking at the quests I should do and I had planned on doing at the very least, Monkey Madness Lost City Heroes Quest Thanks for the tip about waterfall, I'm adding that as well. What are some other "must have" quests?
  2. Ok, after playing for a very long time, I've decided that sometime in the next 2 weeks.... I'm going to become a mem. Now, money isn't really that much an issue for me (being "rich" for f2p with roughly 12 mil), but what is the best str training weapon? I was looking at the Sara Sword, and that looks pretty good. I know abysall whips are best overall, but is the dragon scim or ss better for str training? Also.... what should a lvl 80 or so start doing in a mem world? There seems like theres just so much....
  3. Quelmatz, if you don't have something nice (or constructive) to say, please keep your mouth shut. Calling my idea "stupid" becuase it makes melee "OP" just shows that you didn't read my post. The whip, while looking like a buff on the outside, would make pvp fights much more exciting. The real problem I am trying to adress is rune armor, as someone has already said. It's just too good with the current weapons; but instead of nerfing it (I mean, who likes nerfs), lets put out a cool weapon that will help balance rune armor. Range is getting a boost by this; the decreased armor just makes range hit that much more vs. melee and makes them more powerful overall. Not going to skip around it; mage is useless in f2p atm. Adding a weapon like this won't change that. As jagex has said that F2p isn't a trial version, I do think that f2p deserves 1 thing; balance. The pvp system right now is boring and broken. What's wrong with fixing it? Maybe my ideas aren't great, but what are your suggestions?
  4. @ everyone who talked about holiday rares: I said useful. Any object in the game over 100k for f2p is the exact same or worse than a rune item in that spot. I want the whip to be a step up from the scim, but also have instances where it is not better. The stats would be somehting along the lines of +66-72 slash +62-64 Str -10-30 def +6 str if no offhand Between the def penalty and the incentive to not wear a shield, the whip bearer would be much more lightly armored than the scim bearer. While stronger offensivly, defenesively he would be weaker (making for more exciting fights- its not fun seeing the 0 after 0 pop up on rune). I'm thinking it should come from either a quest (kind of out), a new, dangerous minigame that deals with Zaros, or demons give you x points, and once you reach a certain number, you can spend those points and 1 mil or so and get a whip.
  5. I know 1 year from now, I'll be WAY too busy at college.... I know I'm going to some rigorous school, so I def know I won't have time to play rs...... Actually.... I take that back. 2 and a half years ago I thought I wouldn't be playing rscape ever again, but here I am.....
  6. I think I said useful in my original post.... I'm not saying that f2p doesn't have ways to dump their money, but just no useful items. I myself have the full god armor set (full guth sara and zam) and around 5 mil in coins, but I refuse to buy holiday rares..... even when they were cheaper (I started in 03), I found them useless. The only rare I ever bought was a red mask a long time ago, but eventually I traded it for my full zam. I mean, the best outfit in f2p (combat wise) costs a whopping 250k.... I guess I'm just a little sick of the stagnation that I see in f2p. I love the f2p game; knowing and having learned java game programming from the guy who invented the RScape engine, I see that it is an amazing game for f2p. I just wish we had something to look forward to after a 40 in a stat (possible to achieve in 1 day) and a way to balance out the melee portion of the triangle. We can all agree mage is most useful for its tellys, because its blasts suck, and while range is decent at the lower levels, melee still shreds them at higher.
  7. Hey all, I've recently seen quite a few people complaining about that status of certain parts of f2p and the solution that people say is (almost) always the same: give f2p old members items. Now some mems don't like that idea much, but here are a few suggestions for f2p. 1) We need something to k0 with for the level 70-100 range. Sure, those few times when you manage to land a 25-26 k0 with a r2h are great, but as of now, pking is a waste of food and pots because as soon as the fight turns bad, run or telly. 2) Mage needs a SERIOUS boost. As someone's sig said, f2p needs a triangle, not a line. 3) I personally would like useful items to spend my cash on. Currently, the most expensive useful item in f2p is...... the rune platebod or 2h at about 60k each. So what would you think about implementing a new quest, based along the zaros line, for f2p, aimed at f2pers 70+. I actually have a lot of ideas for such a quest, with 1 new attack option for each part of the triangle. Each would have a spec, but you have to finish the quest to use the weapon/spec off the island. The weapons would be: Dread Whip: Basically, the abysal whip for f2p. Maybe like a battleaxe stats at the speed of a whip. The spec would be a 7-10 second bind and teleblock. Throwing something.... I'm thinking 3 bladed knife. Hits about 20,21 at 99 range and the spec would reduce the opponents armor significantly. Staff of Sara: Able to cast a new spell (lightning probable)... hits up to 22. Discuss?
  8. Hey all, I recently started playing rscape after a 3 year break, and I found out (to my horror) that the wildy was gone. In its place was bh and pvp worlds. I've already determined that pvp worlds suck, so I'm trying to make a range 2 hander for bount yhunter. I've only leveled range so far (have a 60 range, 49 HP, 41 CB), and at 63, I'm going to level attack up to 40 and strength up to 70, and then range up to 70. Not sure whether to level mage to 31 or prayer to 31. I much prefer the idea of prayer to mageso I can get much better k0s and better range max damage, but would I be gimping myself? I've heard how useful to bounty locate spell is... Help?
  9. Well written articles, although I can't relate to the bottom one... =D> I agree with a lot of the things he said in the pvp article. Most of you remember the wildy; sure it had its flaws, but think of all the good times we had there. I doubt many of you would remember me, but back in 05 or so I was a decent pker and made a good enough profit that I didn't have to mine coal. Why did it go away in the first place? After my extended break, I tried to pk there, but there was no "attack" option :ohnoes: I've tried pking on the pvp worlds, but there is literally no way to make a profit. Personally, I believe that one fix could be if you are carrying x amount of gp, you shouldn't be able to teleport. Also, you automatically get the 3 most expensive items they don't get+ the crap that the pvp worlds give you. @ All you People Whining about the PVP article; I bet you are the people that deliberatly try to ruin fun for other people as well. Yeah, the 1-itemer pjers, the people who attack you to waste your food and arrows, the ones that run away from anyone of their own level and will only attack if there is a 7 or 8 level difference. Yeah? If you had read the entire article, you would see that he was addressing f2p. Yeah, no teleblock there. If you disagree with the article, I'm sorry but you must either be: A) Here to flame B) Not too experienced with F2P PVP Worlds C) Mentally Handicapped. Take your pick. *Hides under a rock for the incomng flame fest* :ohnoes: EDIT: Hell, can't we just bring back the wildy?
  10. Hello everyone, So here is one the things that I have been mulling over in my mind; f2p has gotten a fair amount of "boosts" from 05 when I stopped playing. I came back to discover many cool things; explorer's rings, zerker shields, etc. However, I noticed that one of my favorite parts of runescape, the money sinks, had not improved at all. While I am happy with the melee end of the triangle (currently have both full guth and zam :D), I noticed that they other parts didn't have their respective money sinks that were super cool and pretty functional. At most, the wizard (g) set was a little over 1 mil. So, what I'm asking is, do you think it is fair to let f2p have more show armor? Not be able to get it on f2p worlds, but be able to wear/use it. Something like: Zammy dhide- Same as green dhide, except black with red trimming. Sara Dhide- White with blue trimming. Guth Dhide- Um.....I'm at a loss...... Zammy Robes- Red robes trimmed with black. Sara Robes- White Robes trimmed with blue. Guth Robes- Green Robes trimmed with red. Also, what about show weapons? Don't have all that many ideas about those, but same stats as rune weapons, but look cooler. So... discuss. And please, please, don't degenerate this into a f2p vs. p2p arguement. I am currently a f2per, but I'm not whining about "better" stuff, just a bit cooler. This will probably never be implemented into the game, but I just want to know what people think about the idea....
  11. Ok, so on account of this topic, I traveled the world, killing the monsters 50+. The real winners were; Roach Workers; Good XP, Good Drops Roach Soliders: Ok XP, great Drops: fantastic for making money if you happen to have 2 or more foolish level 54s or so trying to steal your kills. Today, after farming them for 1 hour, I got both a rune square AND a rune scim (:D)! Ice Giants: Great XP, great drops; only downfall is all that walking. Very few people fight them, so they are actually quite good. Lvl 50 Spiders: OMFG :ohnoes: these spiders give the best XP that I have found so far. It's like autoing, except you eat. Major downfall is that they don't drop anything. Lvl 76 Ankous: These creaturues gave me suprisingly good XP and cash: better XP than workers, worse items. However, more running back up to the surface for food. OK were: Hillies: These would be great, as if you constantly grind on them they give good money and XP. Bad because it's one of the most crowded training spots. Mossies: Same as with hillies: plus in varrock sewer, you always have some lvl 90-100+ grinding on these.... Poor were: Greater Demons: I actually never got there to kill one: I was scared off 2 times by a lvl 102 rev..... I suspect it was the same one. Lessers: Ah the old standy.... don't give as good drops as roaches, and kinda crowded. Revenants: :x For the trouble you go through killing these, you don't get your monies worth.... anybody ever had anything good from these? So...
  12. Just wondering, why does having a cb of 65 matter? I've been killing them for a while now.... and I was asking for lvl 60-80s. I didn't mean to offend your high and mightiness, but f2p isn't all that hard to understand (I'm sorry if your comment wasn't meant to be rude; the comment just sounded really condecending from my point of view). I mean, what are the alternatives at my level? Hill giants, Moss Giants, Ice Giants/Warriors, the things in the stronghold of security. Not a wide variety. However, I noticed that hill giants and moss giants are always crowded while the roaches aren't. IG/IW aren't really an option because the bank is so darn far away... and I'm not too sure about the SoS monsters. Agreed that higher lvls will be better off with soldiers, but killing the soldiers takes just too long at my lvl, and takes up much more food. More eating means more walking, meaning less killing :( .
  13. This is only speculation to tell you the truth..... The problem I've found with the soldiers is that they take forever to kill and take up a lot of food (my guy is only 65). In the same time I kill 1 soldier, I've killed 2-4 workers. I know that for the higher lvls soldiers will be more profitable, but for 60-80 (not sure about the top limit), shouldn't workers be much faster xp at least? I've found that i make about 7-10k per load of b bones, and when I go back to the bank, I probably have around 35-40k worth of loot. I'd say the cash is slightly more than b bones, but much faster xp (because no competition, so no waiting). Isn't the scim drop roughly 1/100? Also, do people really use nats to alch stuff still? (outside of grinding magic) I got the explorer's ring (3) and its
  14. Hey all, I'm a new guy to these forums, but been around rscape since 04 or so (took a 3 year break). I just started playing 4 or so weeks ago, and immediatly went back to killing hillies and mossies, the previous best xp and money gainers. I found out recently about this new dungeon (the player safety one), and after I did it, I not only found the cockroach workers to be more profitable, but also much much better xp as well. I've seen plenty of people harvesting those soldiers for the wanted rune scim drop, but the workers give much better xp and for at least lvl 60-80s, much quicker loot  . From the stuff I've gotten (tons of nat runes and mith platebodies), it seems like the grand majority of lvl 55+ should grind on the workers. Nobody is ever down there; I play on world 1 alot, and at most, I've seen 1-2 people killing them. Need I remind you that the hillies has 30+ people in it most of the time. What am I missing that nobody is killing them? Or is there something better to do that I've just missed. Thanks everyone; feel free to add me, my char is the same as my name, or Atropos000 (my pure).
