  1. I just finished my Freshman year of swimming last month. I've been swimming on easy competitive teams since I was 6, so it wasn't exactly anything new.

I didn't think I'd enjoy it that much, but overall the season wasn't that bad.

Some times (to the nearest second):

    100 free 1:03

100 fly 1:09 (this is definitely my event)

50 28 (I'm not that great of a sprinter, but I don't have the strength for long long distance :? )

I'm not exactly a record breaker, but I was good enough to swim some varsity and make it to Regionals. That's good enough for me.

  2. Though it would be nice to be able to customize our characters a bit more, I don't think your idea would work very well. It would over complicate the game. In my opinion, it would be maddening to have to change back and forth between races just to be able to complete certain quests and tasks.

...I don't think that being a different class should offer new abilities.

I agree with this. If Jagex were to implement your idea into Runescape, people would simply choose to transform into the race that has extra abilities that would help with whatever task they were trying to accomplish. For example, if someone were training to 99 mining or smithing they would become a dwarf because they could achieve their goal faster then if they were a vampire or elf, etc.

Also, adding this new aspect might make people even more obsessed with training efficiently, because most people don't like to waste money. An example:

Person1: Bobby, come keep me company while I mine.

Person2: No can do, that would be a waste of my time. I'm in elf form right now because I'm training magic.

Person2: Will you still be training mining next week? I plan on transforming into a dwarf then to train my mining.

  3. While reading the articles I thought to myself, "There seems to be a theme here." I guess I was right!

On another note, "The Big Adventure" is one of the best written Tip.it Times articles I've read. It irks me when a author says something once in a article and then goes on to repeat it again unnecessarily; Jp7725 did an excellent job at writing an article that flows together nicely.

  4. Both articles this week were very well written. I liked that they stuck to their chosen topic and did not jump around.

In response to the question at the end of the second article: As a F2p player, I prefer the updates that blend into the game. For example, the addition of mini games in F2p would be considered a rather large update, but I appreciate the route finder update, an update that most easily forget, much more. I don't play mini games that often, but I run all the time while going about my business in Runescape. Being a perfectionist and an impatient person, I used to get rather frustrated while running, but now I can enjoy the task at hand much more because I am not being side tracked.

  5. I doubt any celebrity is going to admit they play Runescape. Mod MMG doesn't reveal his regular account's name because he wants to play as a normal player; most celebrities would take this approach.

I have another celebrity to add to the list that plays WoW; Mila Kunis, Jackie, from That 70's Show. Otherwise known as the "hottest geek." I read about it in an article somewhere, I'll see if I can find it...

Edit: I found something about it on the Wow website, Appearently she's quit. :(

Mila Kunis, who got her breakthrough role playing air-headed Jackie on That 70's Show, was always one of the more famous people playing our favorite game. Ukraine-born Kunis was interviewed by Complex magazine a while back and she revealed a surprisingly pleasant grasp of the game, which she plays with her long-time boyfriend Macaulay Culkin (yeah, that kid from Home Alone. He's all grown up now, sorry, guys.). This won the approval of nerds everywhere -- that includes me -- because a hot babe playing a video game always gets a thumbs up.

In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kunis promotes her new movie, the video-game inspired Max Payne, and talks about having had to quit the game "for good, going on a year now." Confusingly, however, the actress continues to talk about "the game" in the present tense, talking about being in two guilds, getting recognized through in-game voice chat, and how she plays a kickass Alliance Mage. It's an interesting and funny interview where she also hints at keeping tabs on the expansion's new 10-man raids as well as confesses to sucking at shoot-em ups. For someone who hasn't played the game for about a year, she sure does give it a lot of love, saying that "it's such a good game" and that she "loves it so much." Maybe when Wrath comes out she'll rethink that hiatus from the game, eh?

  6.

Really, why? :? I didn't think it was that funny...

Um... Because you found a smiley face in runescape...

    :twss:

Yeah, because generally all the faces in Runescape are frowning.

    Just kidding, I couldn't help myself. ::'

  7.

I think another point is that with community leaders, they can see a more substantial contribution to the community than simply by reports, so they know they're getting a good person for the job.

I think this is what matters most. Sending in lots of reports doesn't say much about you as a person, other then that you've skimmed over the rules. Hopefully now we will see more moderators who really know what their doing and can communicate that well.

  8. Look what I found! \'

A face among the coal rocks in the mining guild. The two rocks at the top are the eyes, I am the nose, and the rocks along the bottom form the mouth.

    I LOL'd SO HARD

  9. Making gold amulets, i believe gives profit. Haven't checked the prices lately.

To use this method, simply buy gold bars on the Grand Exchange, then go to a furnace with an amulet mold and the bars and craft the bars into amulets. When your done, sell the amulets on the Grand Exchange. They should sell rather quickly.

  10. I was just reading the first few posts, and came across this:

like zezima, would he be a forgoten legend in a few years time maybe? :-k

No, because he will most likely be number 1 in highscores.

Note: These posts were made in the year 2006.

Well, it's nearly three years later and Zezima is no longer ranked number 1, but he definitely has not been forgotten.

And i don't think he ever will.

Yeah, it's hard to imagine. I mean, where would we be without all our Zezima jokes?

Edit: Sorry, didn't see Saruman44's post above. But, to Saruman44, those posts were made several years ago.
