Some favor is used to get a reproductive bonus. The high priests rest for a turn while the hero slashes/burns the vines. Any summoned creatures are destroyed by cavalry charges. Archers target the vines and the guardian with flaming arrows.

The spearmen organize into several defensive wedges and the horsemen perform a cavalry charge on the summoned creatures. The highpriests hold the vines off and the hero slashes/burns them with his sword and light magic. Archers light the vines on fire as well as the guardian and the forest.

The high priests hold off the tentacles and the the hero attempts to burn the stumps of the vines. The archers Continue both starting forest fires and shooting the guardian. EDIT: The forces I have here are: 100 archers 100 horsemen 180 spearmen 3 warrior high priests and a hero.

The troops advance towards their objective (if I find you people there this is going to get interesting) EDIT: If the scathe are found then high priests shoot arcs of burning light at them and archers shoot flaming arrows. 400 favor is sacrificed for bonuses to the troops and the people at home pray for their safety.
