  1. . Magic- any good things besides ice strykes to mage? Depends on your equipment / Mage level. Fire Surge owns most tasks in Kura's - Gargs / Abbys / Irons / Steels. Best set up I ve found is: Full Slayer Helm - 15% Mage Bonus Arcane Neck - 15% Mage Bonus SOL - but Chaotic would be better - another 15 or 20% Ahrims top - bottom Infinity boots Zammy / Mage book Fero - +40 to Damage. God Cape Wolpenger plus scrolls Yak is preferable to bank on Metals / Abby's IMO. I can't rememeber the exact max hit but its in the region of 500 - 510, and isnt any slower then melee imo. Gix
  2. Not knowing any better I didn't quest the defence :( ( 1st Pure Account ) Should have done some research before getting Defence levels, but I think I can still get Addy Gloves ..... but have a lot of skills to level first. Thanks for the replies.
  3. I always Fire Surge at Barrows, I ve always come back with more runes than when I start . You must remember to take into account any additional item costs, such as P Pots / Food, slower kills = more supplies needed per Brother. The higher the spell the more Chests per run / per hour you can manage. That obviously increases the potential rewards IMO. Gix
  4. Hi all, I'm in the process ( on my other account ) of building an Initiate Pure, which will be for some PvP fun ( hopefully ). His current Stats are Attk: 75 Strength: 80 Defence: Do i really need to say? HP: 78 Range 78 Mage: 61 ( DOH ) < - Not trained yet to any degree Prayer:45 Combat: 80 I'm not sure exactly what levels to aim for, I want to end up at no more than 90 Combat. I'm planning on 95 Range min, 94 Magic and 99HP ( Soul Wars for that eww ) So given that at 90 Combat I will come across lower level Zerkers, should train to 85/85 Attk Strength, 80/90 or 75/95 ? Atm I'm leaning towards 80/90 as it will give me access to Chaotics if i choose, plus PvP weapons 45 or 52 Prayer is my other question. I'm not worried about where to train, it's Slayer all the way :) ( 67 ATM ) Gixer
  5. My 2 cents worth: Get EE / 68 Summon > Sell SGS. Godswords are truely awful main weapons. Dont worry too much about getting Uni as the above heals well enough for most tasks. realistically 96 Summon should be your goal, as the Yak is THE best fam in the game. Buy Fury>Zerker>Extremes. Tasseys are a waste of money for the +2 Strength Bonus. Use V skirt with BCP. I 'd rather have the extra Defence and Prayer Bonus the V skirt gives. D defender is better than A DFS against nearly every melee monster, I only use a DFS on Wyverns, and when Range / Mage tanking. Claws are next to useless, EE is a much better option as a spec weapon. 6. Still cant login - bah Did manage to login on my F2P account but that didnt last long. Would be good customer service for Jagex to put something on the Homepage, as the Forums are inaccessable too. Gix
  7. Hi, I'm a very occasional user of the tip it forums, been playing RS for nearly 3 years. Best achievement playing RS - 99 Slayer @ 110 Combat. Worst moment - dying when a nub at the Thrower Trolls and loosing everything :( I pretty much play everyday, W91 is my homeworld. Gix
  8. If money isn't an issue Barrage them in the CTS, I haven't tried Barraging in the Resource Dungeon but you can certainly kill them 2 at a time in the original CTS location. They can be safe spotted so no need for Prayer, just a yak / urn to deal with the ashes. If you get your positoning right u can kill the 2nd pair while the 1st pair are re-spawning. Gix
  9. Surely the "carrot" to change from being an F2P player to a P2P player is the additional features ( weapons etc ). Jagex doesn't have an incentive to increase the features available to F2P. Things could be worse, like WoW where you only get 10 days free play, then £8.99 per month. Got to say I wouldn't want to go back to F2P .........
  10. I didn't say that, I was trying to make the point that the race to level x,y or z doesn't float everyones boat. Nope, I haven't. Being a relative noob on RS, Slayer gives me the opportunity to go out and discover new monsters in locations that I haven't been to before. Would I venture into the Dessert to take on Crocs? in "normal" game play - No probably not. All the above is away from the actual point being debated, so I'll leave it there.
  11. Having never played RS Classic, I can't comment how good the "old days" were....... The GE does make good use of time .... heres an example: I fletched 180 odd Maple Short bows, ( at the time I couldn't high alch ) - I put them on the GE, it took 2 weeks to sell them. The point being is they did sell, without me having to invest any additional time standing arround trying to move them on. Would I have been able to sell them pre GE, without going from Bank to Bank advertising them for countless hours?
  12. Seems to me that most replies are based on the fastest xp yeild vs time spent. Maybe I have missed the entire point but SOME of us play RS for the fun of it, not how fast I can reach level x or y. Personally I'm not worried about how fast I get either Slayer or any combat XP. If the task is better served using range then I use range, not a question of XP per milli second. All my combat stats are within 3 levels of each other so speed ( of kill )between each style is not much different. Range is more time consuming collecting drops etc, but with safe spots can mean less trips to the bank. There is ( for me anyway ) a second advantage using Range, I can make my own ammo ( developing several other skills ), at no cost, other than the time.
