  1. I just don't understand why we should completely ignore the minority just because they're the minority.

Because if the minority got their way, we would still be playing like we were in 2003. You look forward to future possibilities, not the past at an era that looks good when things get tough. We have been doing this for years now, and for years people cried for old Runescape back, be it RSC or 2004 or 2006 or whatever.

Fun fact: The city of Volgograd, Russia, was voted to be renamed back to its former name: Stalingrad. Stalin, a man who killed more people than even Hitler over the course of decades. To compromise, it is now called Stalingrad for a few days every year. What do you think fueled people to vote for remembrance of an era that was far worse than today? Nostalgia. And how many of those people who petitioned were not even alive during that time?

Funny thing is, i'll bet even if runescape were reverted back to 03 the majority of tiffers would just play the new(old) game anyways, with a few quits here and there.

They'll be back, they always come back....

  2. If teknofield represents the player base that will be moving to these new servers I will go and vote right now to make it happen. Hell, I'll personally pack their bags.

And some people say the community wasn't better before. I remember a time when TIFers were nice.

These forums certainly have changed. Wanna know why? Ever since Jagex certified them as a Platinum fansite they HAD to go a long with Jagex's agenda (EoC, bad updates, etc etc).

The majority of tif has always been pro jagex...
  3. Maybe it is because PKing was more exciting?

Except there really won't be any PK'ing to speak of at the beginning, just a bunch of level 10's duking it out in black armor. Doesn't sound all that great to me.

    >black armor

    >no mage pures slapping peoples faces with wind blast

    >no range pures hitting constant 7s

    >no str pures

    >no g maulers later on in the game

nobody pks in black armor, cept for failed pures like mine

  4. I wish they'd include a list of features that would/wouldn't be included in the August 2007 version.

For example, GWD was released on August 28, 2007. If GWD is in this new server, I'm not interested in playing. I don't like the impact it had on the game-- basically PvM completely overtook skilling for earning money.

I'd still play with GWD, but I agree with the sentiment here.

I think no GWD in such a server would be a mistake, an interesting point no one has brought up, is that no rares will be present in the game.

There needs to be something high end to aim for :P.

hmm, what if jagex offered a random colored phat to the first 50 people to all 99s. I wonder how long it would take in 07...

The first person to get to 99 smithing (and/or mining) will become a gajillionaire.

No they won't, because there won't be anyone to sell to.

But on a serious note, I'm really not bothered about this either way. Rest assured, these servers *are* going to return because there is an audience for it. I won't be voting though, and outside of nostalgia there is absolutely no reason why I would ever want to play such a backwater, outdated game again.

40 attack isn't that hard to obtain... not even in 2007.

I just wish its profitability was more evenly matched with the other main moneymakers at the time.

The fact that we'd all start fresh is good, IMO, however we'd still be a 2013 community playing a 2007 game. In other words, all of the discoveries of efficiency and metagaming would be transferred over to 2007 as well.

EDIT: Come to think of it, though, the godsword hilts were really what blew skilling out of the water. But later on people realized that whips were still better than godswords. With this knowledge, it makes me wonder if godswords would still be incredibly overpriced upon re-release.

Godswords will still be pretty hard to obtain with 2007 gear and they'll be invaluble in pking as the arma godsword had the highest melee hit back then IIRC. Couldn't you hit into the 70s with high end 07 gear? Sara godswords will also be pretty valuble.

Godswords won't exist, they came later in the month apparently. :/

oh wow... in that case GWD will be pretty worthless. It could still rival skilling in money making but the risk is always a factor.

  7. mon visage when i saw this piece of news on my rs toolbar

I'll sure as hell fire up my membership for this and keep it active for two accounts if they bring this back. Maybe I could use I mage stuff as a range/mage tank main. I'm not very hopeful though. I'd go for an extra 5 bucks on membership for one account but unless this gets 250k or more votes I'll be heading back to private servers and other gaming venues.

  8. Hello tip.it'ers.

I made a new archer (pker) account to have fun with so im asking where to train ranged with low food usage or none.

My ranged lvl is 38 with 25 combat.

Im also a member. Thanks in advance. :)

Have your fun with it quickly, as pures will become useless in a few months.

Rock crabs or experiments would be the obvious answer that for that level of pure. If you decide to train your slayer a bit, using iron knives at cave slimes can net you a pretty nice bit of cash and xp/hour. if you're f2p, go to hill giants or range guards from safespots if they're too crowded.

  9. 1. Do one trip at frost dragons (or enough trips to gain 1 ranged level's worth of chins, depending on how much you can tolerate).

    2. Spend all the profits on chins.

    3. When you run out of chins, rinse and repeat.

I did this for 70-99 ranged on aviansies back in like 2008. Ranged aviansies, sold addy bars to buy chins, then went back to aviansies when I was out of chins. My cashpile never exceeded 2M.

Also, take it 1 level at a time. Don't try to get enough chins for 99 in one go or you'll get burned out.

I think i'll go with this, If I pace it right i'll get a ranged level every two days or so, which is fine with me. Thanks. I'll also have to get into dailies, since I could never get used to doing them honestly.
  10. If you're killing frost dragons that slowly, you probably need to use better bolts (runite preferred), use more ranging potions and pray eagle eye at all times (get the level for that).

@AHappySeeker: If you think that you should explain the concept or not post.

I use broad bolts atm, would ruinite be worth it?

31 is with 94 ranged using a pure setup, a tort and a cannon. Did anyone pay attention to my stats or (pure) in the title? void/swift/ dragonbane are all out of my reach.......

  11. I'm trying to get 99 ranged before the combat update arrives.

Frost dragons have been my main source of income, but due to the drop in prices, I'm not sure if it would be worth the time to collect the bones needed for 94-99 ranged red chinning at ape atoll.

I've narrowed it down to two choices.

I could go to revs and kill about 5-10/hour. I'm not sure of the droprate on items but I usually get them randomly every 50-75 kills or so.

The advantage to this is the low supplies used, as I rarely get pked while there(logout, tele, tank, ect). Typically I only use an inv of monkfish and mabye 50 mith arrows per trip. It's also possible to get lucky and pay for all of my chins in one trip.

Disadvantages are obvious, what I get as a drop is random and somewhat rare. Without the drops my profit is pretty much nil to a slight loss.

Or I could stick with frost dragons. I typically get 31bones/trip within 30-45 minutes with a cannon.

I get quite a decent amount of ranged xp (not exactly sure how much/hour) and the money is consistant, but bones are dropping and I fear even if they get up to 15k each, I may not be able to make the money needed to get 99 ranged within a reasonable amount of time, as I don't play as often as I used to.

Or could there be a quicker way to make the cash needed before the EOC update officially hits?

Here are my stats if it's any help.

  12. So does strength do anything besides give you new abilities?

Yes. Each strength level boosts your max hit by 1. Amazing, I know.

I know they have their whole "crusade against pures" going on, but that's no excuse for making our skills have almost no impact on combat outside of gear and talents.

Also faking you're real combat level by stunting the growth of one skill and pumping you're efforts into several others is crap. That is another legacy issue because defense should play a much bigger role in combat than what it currently does.

Or they could've just made defence reduce damage passively to an adequate extent with armor reducing it further. Pures will find some other way to manipulate the combat formula, you can't stop that.
  13. Summer weather is awful. I spent a little over $1,000 this year to finally enjoy nice weather (bikes & kayaks) but it just isn't worth it in summer. Humidity, extreme heat and exhaustion are ridiculous. Anyone who wants to be outside in 30+ degree (celcius), humid weather has problems. Being inside for the majority of summer is the best way to go. Spring, Fall and Winter are the best months of the year. Spring and Fall for doing everything you want to outside being the weather is BEAUTIFUL is ideal. And winter is an awesome season for many reasons. Anyone who likes summer more than winter has problems. /100% true facts

Seriously, I hate summer. I work in it all day every day and it sucks. Can't enjoy this crap weather. Would be nice if some good video games were released during summer. <_<

    >30 degrees translates to 86 F

  14. Considering I can't test the beta (stupid Jagex), I have to ask this: is DPS really balanced now between the three combat classes?

there is no balance at all. its an absolute mess and quadruplely so in PvE. The only attacks that do any appreciable damage are ones that damage a % of the targets max LP but anything worth a damn has a cap on how much damage it can take, so you just spam unload and frenzy as they hit the cap multiple times.

All the ideas put in seem to be working in opposition to each other, like whats the point of better armour giving better lp boosts if the only real damage is coming from these stupid % based attacks, which causes you to take more damage in absolute terms and so making you need more food to heal? The same is true with weapons, since all the damage is coming from the % attacks and abilities are always the same speed, weapon speed and power are irrelevant so the only weapon stat that matters is hit rating.

I hope they werent actually planning to release it this year, as if this gets released even remotely resembling this mess then I really do see myself leaving and never coming back.

In the words of chucky, You'll be back, they always come back.
