  1. Thank you - he did-

ya know- for the record this happened while he wasn't playing for a long time- so it wasn't that I wasn't monitoring- he'd been playing Wow and thus I was monitoring that one- when he went back to play here- he'd diiscovered what happened-

i didn't really appreciate the comments about me not doing my job "correctly" didn't expect that from these forums either- I was asking for help and get dogged-

kinda sucked- and felt uncalled for- wasn't my fault in the first place and I was looking for help- besides he's 15 too- how many 15 year olds out there are that good with their mom's- my kid is- he's a good kid- the other person is the jerk not us-

just say'n not at you K- I appreciate what you said- thank you-

Welcome to the tip.it forums. ask for advice/give advice and get trolled. Sorry that happened to you >.<

  2. So, I've got TzHaar as my Slayer task from Kuradal. I accepted the special thing, and figured, hey, I want a fire cape. Lookin' for advice on how to do it with my stats, and they are as follows:

    90 Attack

    85 Strength

    80 Defence

    77 Ranged

    71 Prayer (with Curses)

    75 Mage

    60 Herblore (no Extremes)

    61? Dungeoneering (so no Chaotic).

Probably have a budget of about 16m. Looking for any and all advice that y'all will give me.

    Thanks in advance,

    Gilson.

If you are confident, use melee. Otherwise, range. If ranging, get 80 ranged. After that, bring 8 Brews, 4 Super Restores, Whip, D Defender (both for level 90s), 3 Ranging Potions, and the rest P Pots. Sip one Ranging Potion and Defense Potion/Brew before entering.

80 ranging isn't necessary. I got my first fire cape at 70 ranged with a crystal bow (a long time ago). I believe super restores restore more prayer than a prayer pot so those should be used instead of a prayer potion.

  3. Every time I've done the fight caves I've done it ranging. Either use karils x bow, crystal bow, or rune cross bow with broad bolts. Your gear should be ranged armor. You dont have access to stat boosting prayers on curses so I'd use normal prayers.

A melee weapon or a set of guthans may help you get to the end faster- as well as allowing you to bring more super restores and less brews. A special attack weapon such as a saradomin godsword or EE will also be of use to you. If you have access to void it also is effective for a melee/range hybrid. (using melee on the weaker monsters and ranged on the monsters you don't want to be in melee range of)

Here's a link to a guide that is old but still relevant for you. It doesn't include pro gear/turmoil/overloads.

  4. Start farming right away. Your best bet is to gather something like Mort myre fungi or white berries for your base cash. From there I'd raise a gathering skill or spend the money on combat and slay. I'd shoot for the gear to kill green dragons, as they seem to be a consistent money maker. (around 90 combat with a whip and rune/proselyte). There are guides on this site that can give you much better information on the subject than I can.

  5. What would you estimate the kill ratio for a good 10m+ item be on those bosses? Like I know Nex has the most valuable drops, but if it's say less common then something that is less worth but drops more oftenly, like is Nex the most efficient in that regard?

GWD bosses it's generally accepted that 1/300 is the drop rate for an item. I've heard variations as low as 200 and as high as 500.

A sigil drop is around 1/1000. They're very rare.

The drop rate at nex is I believe 1/75 for a rare item.

The above are just what I've heard tossed around before. I'm fairly confident with the GWD answer, and slightly less sure of the other 2. I personally corp for money because it's easy to find a team, no kill count, cheap gear, and a chance at a750m drop.

  6. So I'm a skiller with 45 prayer, and I was wondering if it is still possible to complete the quest using a friend's help and ring of recoils. The strategy is pretty simple, get your friend to reduce the boss to low health, then finish it off with poison/ring of recoil. However, I have been hearing rumours that a friend can no longer attack it. Is this true?

Can't you bring a friend on lunars venging and healing you?

If that's possible I'd do it if you paid for the runes :P ^^ you need to be in a multiway combat area to use venge/heal group though.

  7. If you have access to soul split just wear your best offensive gear. Chaotic maul + soul split + EE/EEE will keep you healed. I personally wear elite void with a chaotic maul and protect from magic, using soul split when I get down to about 600 LP. Granted I am not there 24/7 so my opinion may not be the most valid.

  8. I'd like to address Crocefisso, author of the article "The Impossible Balance." First, a bit of constructive criticism. You're tone and writing style were abrasive. The first time I started to read your article I didn't finish because your harsh, rude tone irritated me and reminded me of those political commentators who make their point by bashing their opponents with scathing remarks that lack any true wit. I resumed reading your article after a friend mentioned to me that you directly insulted those who think differently than you on the issue of free trade and player vs. player wilderness. I wanted to be sure this was the case and it was. Calling those who think differently than you morons is simply not okay. Again, this is the same tactic as many political commentators who use name-calling to garner the support of the dim-witted and try and undermine their opponents when they have no true arguments to back them up. I quite like the elements of free trade and player vs. player wilderness myself. It makes the game more interesting and more like the fantasy worlds it is trying to emulate. You see, in most of these worlds (and in the middle ages, a time many fantasy worlds, including runescape, are modeled after) free trade with friends and neighbors is quite a common occurrence as is the concept of being attacked by those that would kill you for your possession or in an attempt to prove themselves stronger or better than others. It is quite understandable that there are those players who would want to engage in these behaviors as they can enrich their game playing experience. And for those who do not enjoy such activities the solution is simple: don't engage in them. If you don't wish to trade with individual players outside the avenue of the grand exchange don't. Likewise if you don't wish to kill random players in the wilderness to take their items don't, and don't take anything you can't afford or don't wish to lose with you when you go there and exercise caution in your explorations. As a relatively new player (I only started playing in May) this is my strategy when I visit the wilderness. I bank all of my items before entering, and do not explore too deeply on my own. There is plenty more to explore in the world of runescape that is safe at my level after all. But if you don't like these features of runescape, don't try and ruin them for those who do. Instead focus your energies else where. Perhaps you could try dealing with the problems of poverty and hunger in the real world instead of pouring so much into something that is, in the end, just a video game. But then again that's just my opinion, and unlike Crocefisso I don't insult those with opinions then my own. Everyone is, after all, entitled to their own opinion.

    1. Use the enter button. The wall of text is hard on the eyes

    2. as a player who just started this may on their first account you shouldn't be taking on a lecturing tone. I agree that the author was harsh- but I also feel like the harshness was necessary. I can understand a criticism of his tone- not everyone will see things the same way that I do, but I also feel like you have to have an idea what you're talking about before you give that criticism. You haven't been around since 07 and don't know what the game was like with trade limits or what the wilderness and trade was like before the grand exchange etc. I feel like you have to have a good grasp on the topic of the article before you give criticism on how it is presented.

    3. You're right. you don't insult those who have a different opinion than you. You pretend like you're they're mother.

    4. the people the author is talking about have NO idea what they want or the consequences of their actions. Jagex is bombarded with criticism from 12 year olds and then has to try to figure out a solution to their problems while at the same time considering the consequences. If the player base knew what they wanted and were able to vocalize this in a manner that made sense I feel like Jagex would be more responsive. I feel like jagex is doing a good job working with what they're given. 12 year olds.

  9. I was quite disappointed in the interview. The second and fourth articles didn't seem to really have a point, but were still good reads.

I feel the third article really covered the issue well, although I do still think the wildy/free trade poll was a bit of a gimmick to get players who had quit active (and subscribing) again.

My feelings exactly. the author of the balance article did a really good job of covering the issue. I agreed with most everything he said. I was fairly disappointed with all the articles aside from the balancing article.

  10. There is no fixed gear progression in RS. At level 65 defence you get the best all-round armour for slayer (tied with torva at level 80 defence, strength and hp) which is Bandos. At 70 ranged and 40 defence you get the very decent black dragonhide armour which is both very cheap and performs decently when ranging. With 70 ranged and defence you can wear Karil's and Armadyl; Karil's only has more magic defence, Armadyl has a higher ranged bonus but significant melee penalties. Pernix at 80 ranged, defence and hp is much better but also costs around a billion for the set. For magic, the best gear is at 70 magic and defence for Ahrim's and 80 magic, defence and hp for Virtus. You also need 75 attack and 70 dungeoneering for magic to use a staff of light and arcane stream necklace respectively.

Should be noted that the highest requirement for an overworld item, 85 attack for a vine whip, is only about 25% of the way to 99 attack. The best items (chaotic items, nex gear, spirit shields) have their highest requirements at 2/13th of the way to 99.

When not slaying, the highest damage output is achieved with void armour as Aslan described, which requires a delightful 42 attack/defence/strength/magic/ranged/hp and 22 prayer. That's under .4% of the way to 99 in the highest stats required.

Fantastic stuff guys, feel free to update if you think of anything else.

And although the Void Knight armor doesnt take much in the way of stats to wear/use, the prereqs for the quest are somewhat more stringent ;)

To the extent of my knowledge you don't need to do a quest to get void knight armor. you do need to do a quest to get the deflector. Really it won't make much of a difference at a low level not having the deflector. The most common use for it is to equip a platebody along with it. I'd go for the void armor ASAP.

  11. Gear is generally considered a good idea until you have enough to reach a new skill level. I'd look into 95 prayer because turmoil helps SO much with slayer and prayer pots are cheap atm. I would not buy 98 prayer without being able to afford 99- you're broke and all you want to do is spend more money to get to the next level. Don't spend money on summoning until you can afford/have charms for 88 for the unicorn.

I'd go for 95 prayer + a fury andthen keep slaying for the rest of the charms for 88 summoning + funds for 99. Don't go broke getting a skill to 98

    He has 95 prayer...

Buy fury and some basic gear for slaying, when you have enough money for upgrades + around 5m, sell your stuff and buy the upgrade. I cant remember the upgrade order that is best for this, but i know Quyneax has a post that says which is the best order. Ill look for it now...

    EDIT:

Some levels to get for slayer (in approximate order but I'm not sure on the summoning):

    70 prayer and King's Ransom - piety

    68 summoning - bunyip

81 dungeoneering (you need 2 million xp, which takes you to level 80, but allowing some tokens for the scroll of life) - rapier

    89 herblore (85 with a +4 stew boost) - extreme potions, superantifires

95 prayer - turmoil and soul split

    88 summoning - unicorn

    96 herblore (91 with a +5 stew boost) - overload

    99 summoning - steel titan

Seen as your current plan is 99 slayer, following this would probably be best. For the full post look in one of the slayer topics, this part is just the upgrades.

Skimmed stats but didn't memorize. my apologies for the mistake. The post from enaid will fully answer the question anyways (:

  13. hello (: I'm posting to invite you to consider my clan, Just PVM. We are a 130+ pvm clan requiring 99 attack and strength as well as turmoil or extremes and access to all major bosses. We are a large group- well over 100 members, and have absolutely no required events. Bossing teams are constantly forming within out clan chat and yuou're welcome to join whichever you please. We also offer 24/7 anti crash and blessing. I can confirm this from experience- I managed to get killed at bandos and a clanmate immediately hopped worlds to bless my grave.

Our clan chat is highly mature for a pvm clan. it is very rare to see trolling or leet speak within out chat- this is more than any other pvm clan I've been in can say.

I know you are msising turmoil as of now- but you'll be able to join within a week and I can't see any reason why you can't hang out as a guest in our clan chat until you get the requirements to join.

If you're interested in joining either pm Mini spawn ingame, or join the clan chat "just pvm" as a guest, and we'll get you an invite ASAP. If you have any further questions post them here or PM me (:

  14. Corp: generally you only go here if you have a lot of lootshare potential. I can't turn a profit with overloads and brews, so even though I have them I choose to use extremes and rocktails. A few drops pays for my trip, plus you have a chance at a 125m split or a 750m drop if you go lootshare. The pro gear is cheap and teams are easy to find. There's not much of a risk of getting crashed. I find corping to be fun (: there's no kill count and you can teleport directly into it's lair. There is a fairly high chance of a KO but there's really no way to lose any of your stuff- save your karils and games necklace on death and just teleport in and run back.

The trick with corp is that you lose in the short term but profit in the long term. It's better to use brews and overloads because banking less means you have more chance to be around for a drop. I agree that corp is great fun though, just keep your hp high and it should all be good. I like to stay around 600 so I can SS back up when he's not targeting me.

I have to boost for overloads so my supply of them is low. The thing is I don't know if I went through all of them if I would end up profiting. Therefore I'm cautious with corp (: I agree that over a long period of time you will profit and make it big- the question is can you make it big before you run out of resources.

  15. I have been pvm'ing non stop all summer. If you'd like to team up with me I can do any boss and do it well (:

To build confidence I suggest doing masses. Find an armadyl mass and give it a shot. Armadyl is more annoying than difficult, the most damage you get hit is about 250- there's not much risk of dying as long as you have on protect from ranged. I duo armadyl with 87 ranged and no ranged pots alongside my friend who has 99 ranged and overloads. ( I now have overloads too- I've yet to go with them) It's entirely possible to duo armadyl like this. For the first half of the kill you're using ruby bolts (e)- these have the same max hit r egardless of your ranged level so your lower level will not hinder you. To the extent of my knowledge you should have near the same max hit as your friend with diamond bolts (e) and if your bolt special activates you will do a large amount of damage. Armadyl should be no problem for you at all. As for the welfare gear.... get the EEK. I have one and I love it. It's nearly as good as a spectral AND it has soaking properties that the spectral does not.

As for sara gwd... I messed up the wall walk ALL the time. and it has killed me more than once. However, when I get it right my trio lasted for over 100 killcount. Meaning we killed zilyana about 75 times without having to bank. That particular trip netted only 1 saradomin sword. The trip prior to it got us 2 hilts and a saradomin sword. I find sara gwd to be worth the cost, as well as fairly easy and effective. Once you realize that every kill is exactly the same its easy to nail the initial lure. I have an exact method to lure her every time- and that takes care of most problems at sara.

KBD: no drops. Don't do it. If you decide to do it for kicks (charms or the chance at a visage. whatever) duo only. I go welfare gear incase of a pker on the way out and the KBD doesn't hit all that much. Rapier with extremes tears him up.

KQ: biggest drop is like 5m? and its rare. this should speak for itself. Don't do it.

Chaos ele: I profit every single time I go to the chaos ele. I use the highest healing pies I can, a super set, and a few prayer pots. It has an annoyingly long respawn time, so I hop between my two favorite worlds after I kill it (hiding in the rogues castle so I don't get hit right away). It drops large amounts of chaos runes and some blood runes. I use my chaotic maul or longsword to kill it. I wear d hide and protect mage/ss flash. It's an easy kill, very low risk in terms of pkers, and I have literally never lost money on a trip. In addition to this, it drops some pvp items. While I've never personally gotten one, my friend got a 15m morrigans javelins drop. This monster is only worthwhile solo, as you can't use lootshare to kill it effectively, plus it's just too low of a level to merit a duo.

Nex: I have next to no experience here. I'm bossing to obtain the money to go to nex.

DKS: difficult to learn, easy once you've mastered it. I use a lot of runes when I go, but unless the trip is totally dry I profit. I suggest going with a bigger team to learn the ropes and work your way down to smaller teams. I duo here on a regular basis- it's not hard and you last FOREVER. (3 torts + 1 bunyip and then some is average)

I know I gave only a brief overview... My advice to you is do a mass until you are comfortable and work your way smaller. Revenants are also something to consider. you die fairly often, but you only lose 40k ish. I can say from personal experience that it's worth it. I sold my vestas longsword drop in w2 for over 40m.

PM me if you have any other questions? Mini spawn ((: I hope this helped.

  16. I did the fight caves about a month ago. Jad was trapped on the italy rock, so i lured the healers behind it and killed them all. I was able to kill jad before they respawned. THe account I did this on was lvl 120 with about 75 ranged using ranged only.

  17. A few hours ago I was bored and decided to try out corp, and about 30 kills in someone got an Elysian Sigil. There were about 15 people in the fc and about 10 actually killing corp (so i don't know how many people had ls on). Does this mean I have roughly ~40m lsp? If so, what should I do with it? And how will my lsp change daily?

You do have about 40m lsp to spend. This will decrease by 10% daily so it's to your advantage to use it now. With only 40m you probably can't compete at a mass corp event, I'd go to a mass bandos event and stay for a long time. Eventually you will get some big drops.

  18. I'm looking to chin from 87-95 ranged. This will almost definitely be happening on nechryaels in the chaos tunnel. (i am also badly in need of crimson charms.)

I'll be using void (maybe void deflector + acp???) with extreme ranging potions. I have not decided yet whether or not I'll get rigour before I do this.

What is the approximate amount of chins I'll be looking at using? I'm looking into using grey chins (I hear xp is 30% slower for about a third of the cost). I don't know enough about chinchompas to accurately crunch the numbers myself.

I need to gain approx 4.5mil experience. I can add any other information if need be.

    thank you (:
