Jen fears Caster, we all do. Last time they visited us (cause of Jen) they caused quite a lot of destruction, not even Jen could fight of Caster, not even all of us combined could. Edit And if anyone found out about that Jen (Ikana or Ivory) then you wont be alive much longer.

The amount of magic needed to maintain a portal, even a small one at that distance, its just massive. I'd imagine it'd take quite a large skill in w/e it is needed to do so

I guess due to physics, if you fly into something at high enough speed its cutting power is increased in proportion to your speed on impact. Though only if it was something like a sword.
