  1. green has it right, im basically throwing everything ive got at him (as you would) so deflects, leeches, ovls and the like.

I'l try rune bolts is the diamond (e) dont seem to be cutting it and ive finished the seers diary for that nice extra on the bolts too

Even if I did line them up they'd still be within a decent range of jad to heal him though wouldnt they? I'l probably just try with getting them all on me, killing three and out damaging the final healer next time I try.

Edits: I'l give the lining them up a try if this doesnt seem to work, and guess it couldnt hurt to grab a few rune bolts instead of the diamond ones instead either. Thanks everyone :)

  2. They do go to you, but can still heal jad while you've got the on you regardless of position

Done a bit more reading and they'll only respawn at 1/2 health if they healed him upto full originally, so it should be sufficient for me to get them on me, whip out the CR and deal with them then back to jad before they get him to half health (probably)

  3. Another annoying Jad post.

So I have no trouble getting there yadda yadda, but nowadays getting the healers on you doesnt stop them healing jad

How am I supposed the deal with this?

I tried killing them off one by one, half healthed jad again and he spawned more again. tried again ang he threw out a second wave, then I died on the third due to trying to get them all on me and being overwhelmed =/

So am I supposed to get them all on me kill all but one and then focus on jad again with just one healing him?

  4. I don't quite understand why loads of people are labelling this update as useless..

They take such a small amount of time to make yet when used constantly you've got a great boost to your xp per hour!

Yes in the LRC they're not brill unless you have yak + jujus and can afford the invent space they take up, and dont work for ivy (great imo, more real woodcutting)

Its definately a good incentive to use the less often used methods of training with the extra xp gained per hour

  5. Finally the next pirate quest too :D

Also second paragraph = moonclan quest with new lunar spells? Wonder what else lunars really need.. more combat support spells?

    O, a Leech Laments!

-> If this has significance, leech=slugs? Thoguh raktuber was a fairly recent quest, seems fairly unlikely we'd get the sequel this soon :S

It's an anagram for chaso elemental

I always miss the very obvious this first :P

Argon, molybdenum, you are half antimony

Going by including the non-elements too we get ARMOURS. Binding runes into armour for smithing update please? :D

and finally.. AUTOMATON, COSMIC, CHAOS, ARMORS

  6. Finally the next pirate quest too :D

Carbon monoxide, sulphur, half manganese. I see

Carbon, hydrogen, a oxygen, half scandium

If you include IC and A, you get COSMIC and CHAOS :D

  7. From here and also reading Itams blog it does look lilke members should be one of my biggest priorities, since progress is a pain in f2p already. I'l wait til holidaystime to get it though, doesnt feel quite worth paying for two accounts worth of members while im at uni and wont use it much.

Slay/farm/mtk are gonna be the most useful things I need by the sounds of it w.r.t. DIY so looks like members is gonna have to be a must..

Guess in the meantime it couldnt hurt to get the F2P quests done atleast. Thanks everyone :D

  8. So, the other day I finally started something I've wanted to do for ages, which is to make a DIY account from scratch.

Basically no player-trades/GE/assists, buying from shops is allowed (how would I ever get spirit shards? :o)

    Currently the stats are:

    gallery_185475_363_3936.png

    I've already started to run into my first problems;

-F2P mining is incredibly competitive and annoying.

-Steel hatchet is the best I can obtain aside from smithing it myself (not the case for pickaxes)

-and the biggest annoyance of them all, often actually having to walk places instead of being able to run everywhere! damn this no agility!

Anyway I'm basically looking for advice on when people think I should get members and for what useful reasons? and also any other tips on DIY accounts?

  9. Saw a guy hosting the flower game in edge a few days back at 3x odds, mixed flowers are a redo and black+white are insatnt wins.

So really that worths out at just a little better than 1/4 chance of a win, which isnt so bad with a little luck.

Tried it just for the sake of it, 1m bet and I lost..

later went back and won on another 1m bet, and he paid me my 3m :D

So long as they're playing legit im fine with it, smart (longterm) moneymaker :D

  10. Basically, runewiki states grarrs attacks are Melee and a Magical Ranged attack

So, if I'm tanking and praying melee as you do, is it best for me to be maxing my mage defence (since the other attack is mage based range) or is it best to still go with ranged def?

*supposedly* full karils works very well, but that could just be someones false data from one kill or so.

  11. it's like having all three styles... for one attack every few minutes, at the expense of a better attack

Well, I'd obviously only use it as a spec weapon and not my standard melee, and korasis can max in the 700s so its still a decent spec weapon (I wouldnt buy claws at its pricetag)

  12. I'l go give it a try in some multi areas I guess, but think you're right, I've had it hit really low on bork a few times, but also normal hits too :S

I'm moreso thinking that even though its a melee weapon, it does mage damage, so its like having all three combat styles while only being setup for two?

Supposedly the spec hits between 50% and 150% of your max melee hit, so with turm on and potted it should easily force a switch pretty consistently? Obviously I'd still take range, but itd speed things up

  13. I should probably say something about the plans for bossfight too actually; (theres a fair few vids of this about, but il outline anyway)

on the last 360, get above the italy rock and repot with ovl and brews before downing the 360

veng as soon as its down, and throw on range pray, if jad spawns below italy then its ok and I wait the 30 seconds.

SS+turm on quick prayers, rush jad with claw spec, veng activates, recast veng, brew if needed and claw spec again. (and then another veng)

Theens its switching out to a non-spec weapon, and Il have CR by the time I do it so I'l probably go for that rather than a GS.

Going by your advice I'd leave turm on and mage pray like you say, hopefully by this point he'd be practically downed anyway.

Its just whether im going to have space in my inventory for all this stuff really, hopefully should be able to with super prayers and brews.

Also would it be worth taking the Enhanced enhanced excalibur?

EDIT: Thanks enaid, I'l probably decide to overload the whole way, so bringing 3 should be enough for the whole thing then? (maybe from the very start if i melee)

  14. So, I still havent got a firecape and thought its about time to remedy this since 93 slayer has passed too.

I've never tried the fight caves, but i'm not really bothered about failing it a few times if i comes to it either, I know there'll be a slight learning curve

Even though the guides on aow are great, there doesnt seem to be anything that fits this, so thought I'd post here.

    Heres the plan:

    -be on slayer task

-overloads from 360's onwards (maybe later on)

-rune c bow w/bolts for the waves as is usual, armour setup is karils top, veracs skirt, fsh, etc

-For jad using rush method so:

    --Claws and GS/Good non-spec wep

    --Veng runes

    --SS+Turm

--Obviously overloaded and brewed up beforehand

I'm not massively botehred on the success rate once I reach Jad, since that'l be more down to getting good specs.

As for the reason for this, I'd rather my success/failure be determined by luck rather than me messing up. (which im fairly sure I will)

Anyway, with my stats (in sig) what would you suggest as to the inventory/setup and anything else to help me would be very welcome :)

One other thought, it might be a while before I attempt this first dependent on tasks, so I can prob grab 98 hp and 90 range before it, which'd help lots.

  15. With regard to xp rates, I did an hour of penguins last night and got ~60k/xp an hour without artic bear, and just did an hour of red sallys for 73.9k xp with arctic bear (my hunter is 75)

Going back to penguins with the bear now to test again, but seems red sallys are gonna be better, so do penguins only if you really have a problem with people at the salamanders I guess.

I know these arent great measurements of xp/hr, but salamanders do seem to be better (the catch rate seems to be higher, and they give more xp anyway)

EDIT: 71.75k xp in an hour from penguins with arctic bear. So they seem basically the same

  16. Well, im in basically the same situation as you, and red sallys are great and all but always too crowded.

I tried hunting penguins (using net trap) earlier for my 74-75, and got a decent xp rate of about 60k/hr without arctic bear, so that might be worth a shot.

You need to have done Hunt for the red raktuber, and I think I couldve been more efficient, but its basically guarenteed uncrowded. (If thats more what you want)

  17. Ok, so I kinda need some advice on trio dungeoneering training. We're going trio because its easy to co-ordinate three people and it also doesnt get too difficult to finish most dungeons.

I know some of you'll suggest 5man larges/etc, but we're really focused on just keeping it fun and not stressful, which I can imagine the case would be for me in a larger team.

    So, our relevant stats:

    Combat 133/75 Dungeoneering

    Combat 125/42 Dungeoneering

    Combat 106/63 Dungeoneering

I know the dungeoneering levels are kinda spread out, but it shouldnt be long and that'l sort itself anyway.

    Sofar our tactic has been:

C1 rushing approx 50%-75% of the dung 42 guys floors.

C6 3-man Med/Large floors on the rest. I'd say doing medium floors is probably more efficient for us, due to time constraints.

As a team we can make all our best bows and upto full Gorg armour, and lots of the ranging armour, but 3-man melee seems to do fine against all bosses sofar, even if it isnt recommended. (I'm aware a few bosses might hinder this - havent had a chance to meet them yet due to the 42DG)

Bound items are best 2H, and platebodies where possible. Also best arrows possible (p+)

I wasnt 100% on whether I can mention actual names here, if I can and that helps for stat checks, please tell me! :)

  18. Thought I'd throw in my views on this:

My first 'cape' was the questcape, a cape I still often wear to this day. I did it because I loved quests, they gave me great skill goals to get a good grounding in most skills.

About a year into having the questcape, I decided on getting cooking 99, mostly because it was a skillcape (yes I'l admit to that)

Soon after that, I went for 99 fletching after realising how easy it was training for the cammy diary, but this time I went for the cape for that +4 prayer bonus (best at the time)

A long time after, I started woodcutting casually when I was working, nice and relaxing and a good skill to have a nice level in, so I continued this to 99 quite happily enjoying it and talking to people as I cut too.

More recently, I got 99 farming, something Ive wanted for ages, I love the skill, everything about it is just perfect.

And now im working on 99 prayer, a skill Ive also always loved and found to be incredibly useful. Seems over time ive come to my senses and realised actually how I want to play this game, doing things I enjoy rather than not.
