  1. Is your figure for prayer exp from altering the ashes?

    Gilded, yes. I believe it's 226 xp/ash but I wasn't 100% sure.

The problem with that is he has no yak to bank them, so he may be able to kill that many in an hour but he has no way of banking said ashes without severely cutting into his kills/hr realistically he's looking at about 1/2 to 3/4s that number at best.

I based my numbers under the assumption that he can kill 1 black demon every 18 seconds with cannon + melee, and that a banking trip takes 3 minutes with cwars+fally telly. However, a lack of 70 agility or atleast 67 to pot would mess up the numbers a lot.

18 seconds/demon is obviously a lot more than necessary, so seeing as 48 mins per hr spent killing demons @ 18 sec/demon = 160 demons. given a more realistic time frame per demon (12s/demon for me), I can kill and bank 200 ashs/hr.

The only reason I used 18 seconds is because I've done black demons alot so I know a good setup a bit more such as cannon placement, ect. I'm not saying that OP is ignorant on black demon killing, but I don't think it would take him 18 seconds with cannon + melee, that was just a safety measurement in my calcs.

Hell, even if he can do 15s/demon, that still leaves him with more time to bank.

  2. I'm actually in the same boat as you. Just got 90 summoning (have 91 in charms in bank), and im currently 95.5 slayer. I'm trying to make my summoning and slayer max near the same time (have 51 effigies banked atm, haven't used any), but I would like to use as few effigies as possible in the end.

It's sort of hard to calculate your summon xp gains for me when you're going to be using a charm+effigy basis along the way, but I can give you an idea of how i've done it.

I started slayer again at 1.2M slayer xp and 200k summoning xp. So far I have picked up every charm I can, even golds, and I currently have 6M summ xp banked. (5.4M current xp + 600k banked), and I have 9.2M slayer xp. 99.9% of my charm drops have been from slayer. So, in 8M slayer xp, I've gotten 5.8M summoning xp, for a slayer:summ ratio of 1.38. Again, I haven't used any of my effigies on it, but if I did, there is over 2.2M summ xp to be gained from 51 effigies, meaning that the previous poster is correct in a 1:1+ slayer:summoning ratio.

It's hard to say in terms of actual time, seeing as it really depends on what tasks, you do, how much you play, your gear, ect. But just thought I would share my data I've gotten to help you out, and back up the previous poster.

  3. I will definately look into that, seeing as I do at very least 4-5 herb runs a day, i dont doubt the profits will stack up. Just need to do the quest for the 5th plot too.

Always happens this way... I'm too lazy to do these things to save/make money, then later on I finally do it, and I hate myself for not doing it waaay earlier :wall:

  4. When I do slayer, I figure in about 10 cballs/demon on average to kill it (with melee). Also, with exts and maxed melee + rapier + piety + cannon, I can do a 200 demon task in about 35 mins leisurely. For argument's sake, given the fact you wont be using slayer helm (neitz?), and be banking, I would say you could have no problem killing + banking ~160 demons w/ ashes per hr.

My setup would consist of netiz, prosy plate + legs, d boots, ddef, rapier>whip> korasi, sw cape, and fury>glory, and duel ring for faster banking @ cwars, then fally tab/telly back and run to demons. (pipe or spike shortcut if you can).

I would experiment with ppot usage to figure out how many you need to bring for prot melee + piety. Just melee pray if you wanna save a bit of money.

Technically, even if you cannon 10 balls/demon, ashes value far more than that per demon, and thats not counting rune drops that you can alch too (would justify using piety imo since you're not losing much).

Other than that, I would just bring along a tort, pick up/reset each trip, and after a few trips figure out how to balance your pots so that you have a clear inv by the end of trip (40 ash/trip leaves you 6 inv spots.), so if you *manage a trip in 15 mins, then you could do about 160 demons/ashes an hour. So by my experience, that means about 80 crims an hour, and costs approx (10*160=1600*~275=440k in cballs),(4*5 ppots (4)=20*5300=106k in ppots). These numbers are just from my personal data, and may not reflect what works out for you.

    * = 70+ agility

In summary, using this guide, you spend approx 550k an hr in ppots and cballs + misc. tellies, tort, ect. In return, you recieve 160*226 (if im correct) ~36k pray xp and hr, which boils down to 15.28gp/prayer xp, but you're getting tons of range/attack/hp/crimson charms also. This is NOT counting any extra money you decide to make by picking up certain drops, so the value would surely be below this by a certain degree.

My apologies if this overdid the answer you were looking for, but I've done a lot of black demons from slayer (one of my favorite tasks), so I set up the scenario as if I was going to do it myself. My apologies for anything that doesn't match up such as current prices, xp, ect. Did my best.

  5. I have the scroll of cleansing (was amazed at the gp/hr from simply making unfs), and have the tokens to purchase scroll of life. I always imagined getting bad seeds like marentill or something from dead herbs so I didn't bother to buy it. I've wanted to do juju pots, but herblore habitat is 70+ hunter if I'm correct? I'm 67 hunter atm, but cant really stand hunting red chins any longer (if my ideal method is outdated, please let me know lol, haven't hunted in forever).

Plus, how long do juju pots take to actually make (in terms of aquiring everything, ect)? I've heard that the extra time involved cancels out the bonus you may receive in the first place, but I'm not certain.

  6. So I'm assuming that you're killing black demons to use the ash for personal use on training prayer?

If so, I would just go with it first, rather than trying to get 15k crims and grind summoning.

(If you're using ashes for personal use), how much is money an issue? Can you afford to cannon + melee? You can get quite a few crims/hr, plus attack xp, plus ashes. So if money's not an issue, you may want to look into that.

Are you going to be urning ash or banking it? bringing along 6 urns (150 demons) would leave you enough space to effectively kill 150 of those in the alloted time (esp with exts. + cannon). However if you're banking your ash for later us at ecto/altar, cannoning or killing in general might become a bit more tedious.

Personally I'd go the option of using cannon + melee w/ urns for hour long trips or so, rather than banking every 5 minutes, but it's up to you :)

Just realized i misread your point of "buying turm", so in that case, you could either continue with my previously mentioned method, or do as tieszen said and find a better moneymaker if you want primarily turm. Black demons over time would give larger summoning xp than prayer, so even if you do my method, you won't have as long to go for turm, plus you can use yak (whether it be frosts or whatever).

  7. Thanks everyone, I think I'm going to try and knock out summ first after 99 slayer (charms then effigies), then the rest on prayer.

@Autist, I actually do herb runs quite often. I was doing 2 toads/2 ranarr for weeks on end (for herb xp, personal ppots), and it does make really good money. Now that I have 88 herb, which is all I really need atm, I'm not sure what the biggest herb moneymaker is for farming (76 farm). I'm assuming lanta but I'm not sure.

Also, I'm going to be getting 85 dung today for frosts. With those unlocked, do you think it would be faster to train slow skills to open effigies and knock slow xp out of the way, or would it be faster to quickly raise buyables, unlock effigies with the buyable option, and grind slow skills later?

  8. I currently have 51 effigies banked from slaying, and I'm torn between a few options:

    1) Use all 51 on summoning right now (currently 90 summ w/ 91 banked)

    2) Keep saving till 99 slayer, then all on prayer (currently lvl 75, I would lvl that up before using effigies. 3.8M slay xp to go so ~85 final effigies would be nice)

    3) Use all charms from 99 slayer for summoning, and dragonkin 99, then use the rest on prayer.

I don't flip, merchant, or anything of that sort because I can't really be bothered to try and learn how to do it properly, so I'm sort of "poor player" with only about 20-30M net worth at any given time.

I'd rather use my dragonkins on a skill that is going to save me money rather than time.

Any feedback on the option you would choose, or even an option you think of that I haven't, would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. Skillwise, I'm pretty poor in terms of opening my own effigies, but would it be worth it in your opinion to get the req lvls to open ~85 effigies of my own? How long do you think it would take to completely use assists to open 85? What are the assists you have to pay for now because of ft?

  9. You find runecrafting for hours on end very boring. So do I.

I find randomly making battlestaves and pking boring as well. Doesn't mean I think you're lying about yourself enjoying it.

Sorry other people enjoy skills or activities in the game that you don't.

OT: 13M xp in a skill isn't too much tbh, considering the skills are getting easier over time, explaining the 1k+ players with maxed total. I've been playing rs since 2005 (on two accounts at that), and I just got my first 99 (99 hp untrim ftw) a few weeks ago, but it's just because I played the game doing other skills like slayer, that I actually enjoy.

I believe if you start playing JUST to max out, then there is a greater chance you might burn out and get bored of the game/think it's too much xp to accomplish, ect. If maxed total/combat/wealth are your idea of fun though, then go for it. You're better off just finding a skill(s) that you find fun to enjoy, and your xp will go to show how much you enjoy it later on. Seems simple enough to me.

Runescape becomes boring and when people treat it as more of a job than a game. But to label someone elses gameplay by your standards of how to play the game doesn't do any good. Everyone plays differently.

  10. Who actually plays for 6 hours without logging out? Don't you guys urinate? Also you realize that in 6 hours is 25% of your day and 33% of your day awake...

    k just checking...

I usually hit it a few times a week, usually on a weekend when there is nothing else to do. No point in logging out when you can urinate efficiently.

  11. I think it needs to be there and that the way it is now is fine. I can't really think of any major reasons as to why the system exists, it just seems pretty obvious to me.

Although it may not be as big an effect as I portray, I think it would get annoying trying to get into a crowded world when you are actually at the computer, but have to try that much longer because someone somewhere is leaving their character logged in.

  12. Well depending on how fast you can do your larges, you might be better off just going for a flat rate level like me. I just started dunging less than two weeks ago from level 55 dung (all from tog, no tokens), and tonight I plan on getting 84 (with help from the new tip.it dung cc :D). I was originally going to stop at 81 for rapier, but once i bought rapier, I didn't feel like paying 2M a recharge. Plus I already planned on getting frosts eventually, so I figured why not just do it now so that when I start slayer/frosts I can get 3-4 rapier repairs for ~800k.

You could do that also, seeing as frosts make pretty good money still, and if you don't care about a 2M recharge, then there's quite a few leftover tokens from 85 (or w/e lvl you go to) that you can use to buy the other rewards.

Just an idea that I've been using that's worked out for me so far, so maybe you can get it a try. Just bought the herblore efficiency scroll too. Loved making 1156 ppots from the 1005 material's worth i had in bank :D

  13. Honestly it all kind of depends on what tasks you do or do not block. Your setup, minus rapier (just got mine at 133 cb/95 slayer lol) is just about the same I used when I was your level. Tbh most slayer monsters don't pose much of a threat, so your torag's is easily more than enough to defend you most of the time. Before I unlocked uni's, I took a bunyip on every task regardless, unless I was going to pray (Black demons, ect.). You may want to keep a small stash of monks or w/e in your bank and take a few to each task for the occasional time your task has an extra grudge against you, but other than that, Bunyip + a few food on every task will most likely be your safest bet until you manage to get your defence level/equipment up.

(Slightly off topic, but it you find that you're not taking any damage and your bunyip is being "inefficient", you could always try wearing proselyte plate and legs and try out some piety/super set. If your bunyip heals you enough still to where you're not really at risk of dying, it could be beneficial in terms of faster charms/hr (88 summ faster :D), and faster xp of course. This all goes to say that you don't mind using ppots on tasks. I switched from your current slayer method to this method around 90 slayer or so.)

Regardless of what you choose, I thinik you'll find the bunyip is a rather handy familiar, and at only a couple thousand geepees per task, pays for itself in the end. You'll adapt into different methods the more you slay, so good luck to whatever you choose. ;)
