    Microsoft Security Essentials is a very good antivirus. It is light weight and gets daily updates. Though it will only install on valid OS.

    If you can cough up a little extra dough, you can go for sony vaio. Dell's Studio 15 is also a good multipurpose laptop. It has good specifications at a decent price.
