  1. Best post I have read on this forum (I just found this site today haha)
  2. Hello Tip.it! Today was my very first day playing Runescape and I figured I might let people know what I thought and see if they have any suggestions or thoughts. I already found quite a bit of help via this forum so thanks already! So lets start from the beginning. I quite enjoyed the intro quest/tutorial I thought it was a nice way to introduce me into some of the aspects of the game. Im was then interested in the advisor that I'm assuming you get for ever? Roddek is his name? He seems quite helpful for the most part. I decided when I made my character I would like to try range and from the help of Roddek he sent me to Varrok where I was allowed a few arrows and a bow for free! I thought this was excellent. I was worried at first how I was to fight anything without some kind of starting equipment etc. I began ranging the rats but they seemed a little hard and my measly arrow supply was quickly draining. Thats when I found tip.it and found some good advice. I found out about chickens. These have turned out great in some ways but lacking in others. Firstly they have been great because I have been collecting the feathers which sell quickly and for a good amount on the grand exchange. With my 20 free arrows I had left I was able to collect enough feathers for 1200 gold which got me about 150 arrows. Great Im good to go for a while! I head back to the chickens to collect more feathers and gain some exp. This is where I have found the chickens lacking. I have been playing for atleast 3 hours and my range and defense level is only 7... I can attribute one thing too it perhaps and that is the utterly boring and slow task of collecting arrows after firing them. This slows me down extremely it feels as not only do I run over to the dead chickens to collect his feathers but also I have to stop at 2-4 other tiles to grab my arrows. Sure I could skip this i suppose but when your starting out and have no money etc. saving arrows seems fairly important. By now I have something like 4k gold in my bank and something like 400 arrows. I haven't decided for sure yet if I should stop picking up arrows to speed up exp or to keep grabing them. It would seem at this point that I would gather enough feathers to replace the arrows quite easily but should I waste the money? I also still feel that leveling in this game is fairly slow? I mean after 3+ hours of playing and I'm still fighting chickens? The next big complaint I have is that I cant play full screen unless I'm a member? Dang, I know that they want people to subscribe but how am I supposed to emerse my self in the game to decide if I want to pay a subscription or not. Something else I noticed and I'm not sure if Runescape even has them or not but it is possible bots? I say this because while at the chickens coop on almost every server I tried there is like 6 people much higher level then I nearly instantly attacking the chickens and never responding to any chat messages I send... Some one might have to enlighten me on that subject, if there is bots or not. So lets recap with some Pro's and Con's from a first time player on his first day. Pro's Good intro quest Helpful Advisor (Roddek) Free Starting Gear That I Have to Travel to Get So I Learn the Area a Little Bit. Love the Idea of the Grand Exchange. Con's Lack of information after "Getting Started" (free gear etc) PICKING UP ARROWS (worst thing so far) General Slow Leveling? No Full Screen Bots? Neutral I also didn't mention this but I don't know if im just not used to it yet or if I flat out don't like it but clicking to move and do everything seems kind of awkward. Perhaps Im just used to keyboard controls for targeting/attacking etc. but clicking just seems a little obsolete after controlling with a keyboard. I'd like to know what you think about my first impression and perhaps give me any suggestions etc.
