  1. Google docs has the ability to create a form that when inputted will interact with the spreadsheet. It can then output the resulting data to a page. It's commonly used in situations like this where you want to separate the client from the data. In your case your form would input a name and output two variables - time left and cost. Try searching "using forms with google docs"
  2. Gemeos, if you want to share this and not have the problems that thai was having with people messing it up, you should look in to using forms to interact with google docs.
  3. RWT is the one factor that has led some companies to shut down gambling operations. Second Life shut it down years ago because their virtual currency is so readily exchangeable in to real currency. If the virtual gp's can be exchanged for real cash, eventually the feds will be after you. Especially, if it seems the company isn't going to any efforts to stop the exchange of virtual goods for real cash, that's when it becomes gambling. The simplified view on this is that if the 3 factors are involved it is gambling: -chance -consideration (paying something to play) -a prize With how easy their being on RWT'rs Jagex may be seeing some issues as the laws on gambling with virtual currency are being worked out. Zynga gets around it with their Texas Holdem, that rakes in somewhere to the tune of 100M usd every year, because Poker is considered a game of skill and there's no actual cash prizes crossing state/country boundries, which rules out the "chance" and "prize" factors in this overly simplified look at gambling law. The US is reversing a lot of it's decisions, made under a GOP administration, regarding online gambling as long as it's poker being played because it's considered a game of skill instead of a game of chance. A few countries in Europe have been following a similar path, provided it's a game of skill.. typically Poker.
  4. Getting ready to go (RL) sailing, so I only had time for around 1k potions. So far I've had bad luck and received zero spins. Usually, when doing herbie, the shattered heart rocks come along sooner.
  5. Provided the super fast summ method doesn't get nerfed... When dragonseance is done gathering charms he could easily beat drumgun's summoning records.
  6. Maybe Jake's FM is off a little bit because he's spam left clicking the arctic logs to drop them. This typically burns 2-3 logs per inv and drops most/all the rest.
  7. It'll slow him down slightly, his cannon will still be killing, but he'll have to safe-spot behind stalagmites to open.
  8. Given the fishing aura information I'm going to assume it would have a very positive effect to use a woodcutting or mining aura along with a person or two using a resourceful aura at the same time. The mining, in particular, could have the best effect (due to distance between deposits); provided resourceful works at LRC.
  9. Thought about it for a while and still curious what's inefficient about dragonseance getting, 0 time wasted (assuming he has more then enough gp's to max all buyables already or a very rich friend willing to give away summ xp), free crims via lootshare from lobs while fletching broad arrows. He doesn't have to waste ticks picking up charms when he maxes out cb, lootshare will deposit them right to his inventory without doing any work, and he gets to keep on fletching. I know there's the option of fletch during wc, but it's near impossible to split, cut arctics, and fletch at at the same time. Knowing jagex though it wouldn't surprise me if loot share interrupted fletching. Just wondering...
  10. Fors was ridiculously consistent when he was doing rc. He did nats all the way to 60m or so... I don't remember exactly when he shifted to zmi but it was a ton of xp for how slow the xp gain was.
  11. I like Jebrim's line of thinking with the prestige system. This prestige system could be extended to compensating for the fact we don't get levels/fireworks after maxing total. As a result, the only real goals left are rank and 200m xp. For the player that is maxed, many find themselves attending 99 parties to support their friends as well as being there to see the fireworks that they no longer see. Sure, their is an ever growing population of players that call having a party, 'xp waste'. However, their are plenty of players that enjoy going to parties and throwing them as well. It's the time we get off for a couple hours and I've had some of my great conversations dancing after a multi-cape party. How does the prestige system extend in to this idea? It could have partial rewards on the way to a full prestige token. Different classes or colors of medals that come along with a set of fireworks or something else to indicate that this person has reached 50m = bronze star, 100m = silver star, 150m = gold star, 200m = a medal (something different then the stars). At that point you would have a permanent medal and upon achieving the next star, at 250m xp, the medal would be followed by a star which continues upranking until you have two medals. In this example, the uprank was at 50m. With skills like summ and rc in the game, 10m would be a lot more appropriate interval for intervals in the prestige system. To summarize, the prestige system could provide well needed visual bling rewards, similar to the ones we get when we level (fireworks), on the way to 200m xp in a skill.
  12. Wat Far worse is too strong of phrasing. Addiction equivalent to the worst of drugs is quite accurate of gambling addiction though. If someone's willing to give up their house, relationship, they sweat like crazy thinking of the next time they do it, they'll rob/cheat/lie to any/all of their friends to get money for it.. then I'd say it compares to any drug addiction. What can make it far more insidious then most drugs is that you can usually tell someone's on drugs and you stop giving them money, hiring them to work for you and you can intervene sooner to possibly alter their behavior. With gambling it's much easier to hide the addictive behavior from everyone around you for incredibly long periods of time.
  13. There are at least 3 friends/associates I can quickly think of that are homeless AND gambling addicts. Any time they have 5 bucks in their pocket they'd rather take their chance on winning a mill then buy lunch or save up for an apartment. It doesn't mean I'm against gambling, I love trips to Vegas. But, it can end up being a very serious addiction for some people; far worse then any drugs or alcohol. Jagex may or may not be on to something with the pmod bans. 9703 RC xp again in 2-3 mins. Other then assisting, jack of trades is offering the fastest rc xp available on a daily basis.
  14. 9703 rc xp for jack of all trades at 99
  15. Host Bart's logging some major cons xp. 34.2m so far And by looks of this: http://runetracker.org/realtime-host+bart got some time with bonus left
  16. I just want to say the whole idea of hypocrisy, the word comes from a religious background. It has to do with acting differently then your stated beliefs. Belief is a religious thing, it has absolutely nothing to do whatsoever with critical thinking and the ability to change our mind when things change and new evidence comes along. Luckily their are so many opinions and ideas in the world, it's what makes the world, and Runescape, such an interesting place. This is a game, not a religion, it's okay to be playful, try out new ideas and change our mind about how we approach it... no one is forced to play by any standards whatsoever, other then the rules set down by Jagex. ---- And... I was talking to someone that lives a few doors down that's a developer at a popular micro-transaction game company. They're currently bringing in about 500M US a year from micro-transactions, they're most popular game brings in over 100M a year. It really shows that plenty of people still have A LOT of discretionary cash to use on video games. I only played these games a little but met several people that were spending over 1k a month on various boosts. It makes you wonder what the ones that don't talk about their spending dump in to those games. :-) It's pretty obvious that the Jagex founders decided to sell 100% of their share in the company to investors. Private or public all investors want to make a profit on their investment. In the Venture Capital world, for later on investments, at least 8-10x what you put in is the standard. For initial funding, the payout can be ridiculous, KPCB (Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers) funded Google initially with 25m in exchange for 20% of the company which has grown from 25m to over 20B. They put 4M in to Netscape (RIP and ty for firefox) initial funding and got 1B back from it when they had their IPO. There is a huge belief in the business world that the goal of any company you start up is to sell it. I met a few business people over the years that had already sold a half dozen company's they started up and were were well on their way to selling the next one. The fact is money rules the world and who amongst us wouldn't take a $200m payday and not ever have to work again. To hell with integrity, I want to chill on my Yacht, travel the world, eat fantastic food, and do everything I want whenever I fell like it. If anything, they fulfilled the dream that most of us won't even begin. ---- And, here's a motivational video for keeping on going towards 200M all goals or any goal for that matter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAJPPjGrU7g
  17. It's silly to speculate about the maximum xp, as long as we are may as well add another theory. Odds are high that the database is Oracle and that it is programmed using the NUMBER datatype, and records all xp gained including XP gained past 200m, and the client's has an artificial cap of 200m set. If they are using NUMBER, they do have a few other Numeric datatypes but NUMBER's quite capable of storing floats as well as integers so it's very commonly used. It's capable of storing 38 significant figures as well as positive and negative numbers to 9.999...9 x 10 ^125. Info about the NUMBER datatype: Want to speculate even further. When your interfacing with an Oracle database there's no rule that says you can't use Long to store the data - it's normally for strings though. Each Long field can hold 2 GB's and the thing is Java's just an interface to the data that comes out simply as raw data, the datatypes aren't required to match other then size constraints of the datatype in the middle/front end. And this case it's really easy to keep things tidy because you know the only thing the front end will ever send to the field is a number. --- TL;DR: Maybe they're already storing past 200m xp on the database.
  18. Hey Paper, When you study theater, they have a practice you do: Outstretch your arms and legs as far and as wide as possible and shout "i failed" at the top of your lungs. What your doing here is 1) Being confident with an outstretched body, which exudes confidence. (the exact opposite is when you cross your legs, your arms and make yourself as small as possible - the state of non- confidence). Think of how King's and movie stars are trained (some are this confident from birth) to sit down and make themselves nice and straight, sit in to their seat in a way such that they stay upright the entire time sitting down, don't cross their arms, usually don't cross their legs, etc. This body positioning has a giant effect on the psyche, more then imaginable. You also can have changes in status on stage very easily simply by one person starting with crossed arms, then outstretching them. This small thing alone can create the status change that is a sign of good theater and basically happens all the time in daily life without our realizing it. 2) then by shouting "i failed" at the top of your lungs your reprogramming yourself to be confident that you failed. By shouting your also exhibiting the exact opposite of how we usually talk about failure, in a timid, mousy, un-confident voice, usually feeling all miserable about how lame we are. Failure's the only way anything was ever invented, and any progress was ever made by our civilization. If everyone had given up after their first failure we'd still be in the stone ages. Also a game like this that's non-linear, where it doesn't have an end point within any reasonable time frame, no matter how far or how little you've done you accomplished something. Personally I learned a long time ago on the job that I fail the first few times I try anything new out, at minimum, even been fired over it... whatever, shrug, and get it right the next time around. This is why in sciences they have you take notes no matter what the results are. So you and your successors can learn from the mistakes you made Usually people learn a lot more from the mistakes then from the successes. Time after time, someone's had success and civilization has gotten so stuck on that means of success that they overlook an even more efficient way of doing things, sometimes for centuries... It's silly to say, but from Meet the Robinsons "Keep moving forward".
  19. 1801 samaden seeds farmed with juju farming pots would give approx. 18010 mining potions. each one lasts 15 minutes and people here have said they're in the 90k mining xp per hour range. Enough there for 4500 hours of mining. 1 (3)-dose per 15 minutes - would give well, well over 200m mining xp - by my calcs enough to get 200m mining twice over, so maybe could use the other half on wc pots and afk that one too. I had been curious if you could mostly afk 200m mining after hunter and apparently you can. With draconic vine as a 2nd this is a very reasonable thing to consider as you'll have all the vines you'll ever need as 2nds. The main thing is probably to make sure you non-stop farm samadens whenever you're hunting. Correct me if my calcs are wrong... ty
  20. Plenty of us, no matter what game it is would be playing a video game on a daily basis. I've been through dozens of them over there years, and unlike the trolls I've accepted the fact I'm a gamer for life. No regrets.... Either you regret your past decisions and stay hung up on the past or you move forward in to the future. And better yet, just hang out in the present and don't dwell on the past or the future.
  21. So it's still better to use them if you have a few pairs of cooking brawlers in your bank and you want a cooking daily record, right? Also thanks both for the answer :) Given they only work for 1000 wines, 1 pair is going to last you 800k xp. So you'll need a good number of pairs to get a record. Might be better off cooking an inv of summer pies in wildy now.. and maybe taking along urns. Just speculation I don't understand gaunts. Anyone tried out cannoning firegiants by setting a cannon on the table side, and right next to the entrance to resource dungeon then telly out/in of resource dungeon to refill cannon. It acts like multi-cb, and seems a lot faster then mellee/cannon combo, never timed xp/hr because I pick up more drops then the efficiency experts.
  22. Thanks for all the awesome posts. This thread's been regular reading for months now. The one spell from livid worth considering (if you plan to RC versus effigy any part of 200M rc xp) is the pouch repair. Friends are reporting well over 100 runs on the giant pouch in between casting the repair spell.
  23. Another factor to consider with rc'ing to 200m at zmi is that they'll be able to venge other, cast imbue, etc. with the runes they're getting. We can factor in another 30-50k mage xp/hr on top of what they'll get at zmi. In theory if they were super rich they could have a cannon running at the same time, maybe fletch - but that wastes 3 inv spots, or something else. Maybe I'm wrong but I think if anyone in the top 15 were to look for it they could find a few very reliable runners that would commit to helping them out for a few hours every day in exchange for gps. I know at least a dozen people that all relied on double nats almost exclusively for income until the market tanked and most of them were knocking out 5-6k nats an hr without a sweat. With these kinds of runners, I'm guessing anymore then 3-4 runners you may very well end up with a line waiting to trade you a lot of the time.
  24. Even if it were to cost 10B to lvl to 200m at ZMI with runners, the thing is .. sure it's 10B. But, even if your spending 10m an hr and spending 10 hrs a day there for 1.1m xp. That's it, you spent 100m for the day. For some merchers, they could easily make 50-100% of the daily expenses by flipping for the 100m. It's not like herblore with ovl's where you need 400-500m a day to do 10 hrs of herblore - a nearly impossible amount to make on a daily basis. Instead it's a cost that will be spread out over at least a 200 day period. If they skill like a lot of us do, not 10 hrs a day to an exclusive grinding thing they could just spend 20-30m a day and cut it off at that point, it's very manageable. Also in an ideal world you won't be carrying noted ess, you'd pay the runners in ess as well and they'd just have it in the bank. For the person crafting having to put anything at all up in trade is going to waste time. Their main focus will be to craft and drop the bad runes (or all the runes, depending how rich they are).
  25. Hello, Love this thread. I think you guys are making rc at ZMI far too complex. As of right now, the current state at FFDN is that runners can still make 500k/hr or so and there are almost always zero runners. Until an incentive is in place - basically going back up to 1m+/hr I don't think people will be running again anytime soon. I see an enormous opening for someone willing to pay 1m+/hr for runners. By paying between 1-2m/hr (maybe higher depending on new economy) I can think of several people that all easily get 40-50k/hr at zmi and would be willing to run for someone at least an hour a day if not more. Especially if it's someone like Telmo paying this I'm pretty sure they could easily secure some very good runners - in the top 5% of the fastest rc'rs most likely (cause I know a few that miss having a good predictable hourly income available). As far as I remember max runes you get at ZMI is 13. That leaves 15 inventory spots open. They could easily dump the ones they want to keep in to a yak that they keep handily summoned right next to them - or just drop them cause ess is cheap and runes are just a byproduct of gaining xp. If you kept all the runes in your inv, and didn't dump them off to a yak, with an average of 17 xp per ess your'e gettin 255 xp per inventory - you'll get this two/three times per runner - versus only 225 xp for an inventory of 25 essence at the Nat alter. If your working with a trustworthy group of runners, there is no paying the runners, no trading of runes, etc. The person you're running for would pay you several million up front and you'd run like a madman in exchange. With very good runners that average less then 1 min a trip, you won't need more then 3-4 very solid runners at any one point. In the world of things as an hourly expense for some guys spending 5-10m an hr or w/e at zmi is really no big deal compared to the hourly expenditures on other skills.
