  1. You've got a point, but your picture clearly shows that you and Dustin Hoffman look almost exactly the same. It would be absurdly improbable for you to look that similar and share IRL names. Also, I strongly doubt that any humane parent named Hoffman would name their son Dustin. This taken into consideration, it's simply too unlikely for you not to be Dustin Hoffman, the actor. Anyway, now that Aasiwat is slacking, here's an updated list of the 'virtual levels': Total levels if Jagex happened to raise all level caps to 120, max total being 3000: 1. Elias------------------2903 2. Aasiwat--------------2901 3. Kingduffy------------2885 4. Zarfot----------------2879 5. Elvis------------------2875 6. Telmomarques-----2874 7. Jdelacroix-----------2854 8. S u o m i------------2838 9. Kngkyle-------------2815 10. Tezz---------------2810 11. Skiller 703--------2804 12. Drumgun----------2790 13. Green098---------2780 14. Paperbag---------2728 15. Dragonseance---2721 16. Gertjaars---------2656 17. Langerkiller------2483 The hiscores would look like this if they raised it to 126 (188m), max total being 3150: 1. Elias-----------------2962 2. Aasiwat-------------2944 3. Telmomarques----2937 4. Elvis-----------------2923 5. Zarfot---------------2915 6. Jdelacroix----------2912 7. Kingduffy-----------2906 8. 2. Ring_World, my fingers are itching to reply, but that would be as huge a departure off topic as your post is.
  3. prices will go down because of deflation not because of bots Explain. Bots increase supply. Increased supply => lower prices
  4. After 27 years of preparations, imagine the rush of finally dropping 2.2b exp :P
  5. You're missing the point. People are well aware that a Big Mac isn't the healthiest item of food, yet it's being eaten. People know that Runescape isn't the healthiest activity, yet it's being played. No matter how reasoned or logical your arguments may be or how eloquently you may present them, they aren't going to convince anyone, because this isn't about rational arguments. We know all the arguments, and we play despite them.
  6. Playing video games all day is a rather perverted manifastation of carpe diem, wouldn't you say? :P Yea, I think we can rule out trying to convince the Runescape elite. And we shouldn't be trying to convince them. It's their life and it's not like they haven't reflected on what they are doing. They are intelligent people. I can only speak for myself, but I'm rather certain they aren't playing this game based on some intellectual principle. They are playing because it makes them feel good. When you eat a Big Mac, your brain goes "Yum, I need these fatty acids for scarce times - I should keep eating!" In this case, we are the fatty acids: "Yum, peer recognition - I should keep on playing!" We, 'the fatty acids', are only slightly to blame: Games like Runescape are built on peer recognition. Without it, they wouldn't exist. The fault lies with Jagex for not putting a cap at 13,034,431, allowing this to run AMOK. So, in conclusion: 1: Stop trying to convince the top players - they know what they are doing. 2: If you want to convince them, do it somewhere else =)
  7. I like reading about the hypotheticals of reaching 200m in all skills, but I think it's absolutely grotesque how the people who have set out to actually do it are being cheered on. I would enjoy reading a thread about grinding down a mountain with a toothbrush, but find it immoral to encourage people venturing to do so. Runescaping and mountainbrushing are only different in that the former is a multi-player game. People might say they do it for fun, but how many people would get 200m in a skill if this was single-player? Nobody. I would argue that beyond level 60, Runescape is entirely (and ingeniously) fed by the acknowledgment of fellow players - "Wow! Nice cape!" - Gaining experience in Runescape is like amassing huge quantities of a currency that cannot be used anywhere in the world, save as a quick-fix dose of recognition in a small online world. I can't help being deeply fascinated by the people who are dedicating their lives to this, but I feel terrible for having ever said things that might feed their addiction. To quote the mighty Zarfot: "I think that some people might be disappointed that I'm giving up on 200m all skills even though it was never actually was my goal and I never expected to get it anyway since it takes like over 9000 gigayears of spam-clicking on pixelated fishing spots and logs" He came to his senses and so can we all (well, maybe not the man from a thousand lakes, so donate stuff so he can get it over-with) Elias should be grateful no one is talking about him. Hopefully it will give him less motivation.
