  1. Quite the opposite. I doubt people are more inclined to pay a company that stabs them in the back. Stabbed in the back? wtf ru on about? CHEATED and CAUGHT OUT you mean  You are going a bit overboard in my opinion. If people are willing to spend hundreds to thousands of hours enjoying the free game, why wouldn't they be willing to pay a fairly minimal fee in order to continue playing it with all of the luxuries that come with the premium game?
  2. A bandit has escaped into the woods? Clearly the most efficient way is to burn all the trees down! Yes, clearly that is the best solution. It isn't extreme or inconsiderate in the least to their costumers or possible costumers. If they are possible customers, like you said, that would suggest that they may eventually be willing to subscribe. This might give them the push they need to make the decision, and in the eyes of Jagex, that would make the update a success. EDIT: ON TOPIC. Dragonseance is about to start ripping out 70M days GF KIDS @DRAGONSEANCE #1. Jk.
  3. Apologies for the late replies, I came down with a bad case of needing to sleep :P what about the friends u made in game? I don't check the high scores as much when i'm not nolifing the game but it is a record for the other players of the game. If many people are removed from the high scores peoples real rank would be questionable...so mainly the historical account is why im against it people like n0valyfe, Zarfot, Top ranks in many skills, old friends highscore pages just going poof. but like Athymy said its just a shock to the systemall my rs screenies got deleted I used to think "damn if i ever lost my screenshots id lose my memories of scape" but now its like "those screenies dont make my memories of scape"but anyway if i thought all i achieved in rs was levels and exp id have quit ages ago. I'm going to start off by re-enforcing that I do not, in any way, shape or form support this update - I can see the reasoning by Jagex and the update doesn't bother me. I don't think I could ever completely leave all of the friends that I have made through the game, even if I had zero interest in playing/moved on. I've spent so much time within certain runescape communities that I would happily keep coming on regularly to have a chat, I'll never forget the people I've met on this game, that is where my memories will lie, not in my ranks. If in ten years time someone was to say to me, hey, remember <insert name here>? I'd have the fun memories I've had with that person and it would be meaningful. However, if they were to ask me if I remembered my rank in, let's say magic for example's sake, I don't think I'd be able to answer them. I'm not trying to belittle anyone for caring about the 'legacy' they leave behind in their ranks when they cease to scape, after the sheer amount of time I have spent on the game, I understand where you are coming from. I have only given my personal opinion on the topic. As much as it would be 'playing Jagex's game', if I cared that much about my ranks or wanted them to be my legacy, I'd continue to let runescape bill me the £3.50 per month or whatever it is. I think it would be worth it for people that really do care. Speaking as a member of said majority, my problem with it is that any and all achievements I've made, or will ever make, in-game will be wiped from the official rankings like Kaida23 had never existed. Nobody should be made to feel that expendable. As I said, although this is my own personal opinion, if I was to stop caring about the game enough to quit and cancel my membership, it really wouldn't bother me if I was removed from the hiscores as I only care about them when I am actually playing the game.I can understand where you are coming from, though.I think Athymy makes a good point here. He really speaks to what is healthy motivation for playing, regardless of Jagex's most recent highscore update. If you are playing for ranks than it had better be because you want those ranks for you and you only. Playing so that others will somehow appreciate you more because of your ranks is the wrong reasons to be playing. Don't play for someone else's enjoyment; only play for your own. If you played for someone else's enjoyment you will see everything you did as a "waste of time." If you played for your self you will just see it as an enjoying time. That said I think that this update is total bullshit. Also Athymy do you have any plans to make a bid for the top 15? I see you are powering through magic now and you have a lot of fast xp still open. It would be nice to have another fellow poster in the top 15. I often see people talk about the time they've spent in game, saying that it has been such a waste of their life. I have absolutely no regrets about the time I've spent playing because it has been fun (for the most part). I'm just taking it one day at a time and one goal at a time, if I end up in the top 15 that'd be pretty sweet, but I just do what I find fun at that particular time (although I don't usually find it fun after 150m xp lol). I don't really have any plans to start mashing buyables as I simply don't have the bank to do it, I'm considering mining as a goal after my current plans, plans which will take me to around January, so I'm not really going to be gaining masses of overall xp when doing that. I am also aware that training magic right now is incredibly inefficient was I to decide to train mining in the near future, but oh well. A little bit of inefficiency never hurt anyone. :P

  5. It is a touchy subject. As far as the majority of F2P players go, they don't play in the same way as the people who put in heavy hours, play for serious ranks and make being f2p their unique way of playing. They would never consider paying for membership because it would ruin their playstyle. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that the vast majority of f2p do not adopt that style of playing, they just choose not to subscribe, perhaps because they feel that they don't play enough to warrant subscription, or have not had an incentive to subscribe or whatever else. It is difficult in the way that, do Jagex give the well known and high ranking f2p players preferential treatment, or do they treat them as they have decided to with the rest of the f2p community? We can also mention that Jagex no longer claim the free game to be a massive game on its own as they used to, it is in-fact a limited trial, so to speak, in order to entice new players into paying for membership. Perhaps you misunderstood me, I suggested that Jagex find a way around it for example, by taking an application, or vouches into consideration and then checking into that account in order to give it access, a rule being that you have never had membership before. Or even a full free to play hiscores which does not include people who have paid for membership in the past and gained levels only available to paying customers. These aren't the best ideas, so don't take them as suggestions that I have thought out, they aren't. They are examples of what I was talking about. I am not by any stretch of the imagination saying that I support this update, I would rather continue to see the progress and ranks of the top f2p players. I am only saying that I can see where they are coming from and it doesn't particularly bother me.
  6. Not if you are f2p. Highscores are members only. Shocking as it may be, some people on f2p care about their rankings. Crazy, huh? Had you read my entire post, you'd have noticed that I mentioned the high ranking F2P players. It is unfair to them, there is no denying that, there is surely a way of getting around that at some stage. For the majority, I don't believe that this is something worth complaining about.
  7. Let's be honest, aside from the high ranking F2P players who are getting absolutely rinsed by this update, if you are serious about quitting then you aren't going to care about runescape ranks. I'd be willing to bet good money that the people that haven't played in a year or more don't even give the game a thought, even if you do decide that you want to play again, you'll have your ranks back. People seem to be getting so worked up about this when really it's not the end of the world, it's just a shock to the system because it's such a sudden transition. As for the people complaining about Jagex getting greedy, at the end of the day, they are a business. If they aren't producing incentives to create returning customers, then they really aren't doing a particularly good job as, in my opinion, second to keeping existing customers happy, reeling in returning customers is the most important thing that they can be doing if they want to continue profiting. I'm not one of the jagex fanboy [bleep] and I'll be the first one to start a shitstorm if I think they've done something wrong, but I don't think that this is anything to get your knickers in a twist over (unless you are Water, El Popo or one of the other F2P krew). /my 2 cents
  8. Lmfao for real? Update of the year.
  9. One of the QA testers for Nex attempted to edit one of the undeniable facts that RSWiki users had claimed to be a Nex drop and was cautioned for vandalism. This is one of the main reasons I have for not using that website.
  10. Source? I know a guy that knows the guy does not count. Unfortunately I'd have to go through over 1gb of IRC text logs in order to find it which just isn't going to happen. Whether you believe me or not, you will never get, nor will you ever meet someone who has had that drop. EDIT: Unless it's a level 58 pure training at dagganoths who's trying to bullshit the other idiots that are there with him. The ring of wealth table drops are highly inaccurate and misinformed on the RSWiki.
  11. If even 0.5% of the information is false, that is an enormous amount of misinformed players/day given the massive regular user-base and a huge amount of incorrect information because, as you said, the size of the database.
  12. RSWiki to this day states that 2500 noted sara brews is a drop available from the ring of wealth rare table when I know the guy who faked the picture of the drop and edited into the Wiki. If you try to remove it you'll get a ban warning, so yeah, I'd take anything read on RSWiki with a pinch of salt if it was necessary to do research there.
  13. 11,486, expected it to be way more. Then again, that's assuming that I have infinite bank, which I don't.
  14. Well I think we should agree to disagree for the most part, although I'd like to add that over a long period of time, jadinko lair is by no means afk compared to most other things which can be considered so. I believed it to be in the beginning, but after quite a lot of xp done there it was actually preferrable to finish 200m on magic logs. Although it is entirely possible to afk for your entire runescape career, I don't think that's something which is going to happen in most cases. I don't think it would be a particularly enjoyable way to spend time, although that is irrelevant and my personal opinion.
  15. Few people have the time, motivation and attention span, I didn't say it required skill, I did however say that it requires stamina, ie. consistent gains over a (very) long period of time which few people have shown or even care enough to attempt. You're right, it's not about the skill, but it's about the motivation to realistically spend the next several years doing almost nothing but playing this game and it's about the ability to keep up the mind numbing and repetitive tasks for the entirety of the several year long trek without burning out, or losing motivation due to boredom or other factors. I don't think that many people are up to that, and people who claim to be aiming for it without a true taste of what it requires are difficult to take seriously, which was my original point.
  16. It's hard to take someone that claims to be aiming for all skills 200m seriously unless they've shown consistent high gains in both slow, fast, afk and click intensive skills over a long period of time. Anyone can claim to be 'going for' all 200ms, but until they actually experience some of what is required for themselves, I wouldn't take them seriously at all. The only person that has stated that they are aiming for all 200ms and has shown all round that they are up to the challenge is suomi. It takes more than a fat bank and a lot of confidence.
  17. Word on the street is that Ring_World is a top contender.
  18. everyone has 200m dungeoneering.... The very idea of 200m dungeoneering makes me want to die.
  19. m8 that was bs. I have posted way worse and only been temp banned, I think Mat was just sick of me. On topic: Athymy for all 200ms obviously.
  20. Amazing ll. I'm in a prison with the other banneds. :> I regret not asking for prison clothes.
  21. It really is pointless trying to argue with people like that, they are best left ignored and eventually they may shut up. OT: T_U__O__G_O is rinsing it.
  22. They can be compared because neither make any logical sense. If someone could explain how Green has more fun training magic wearing bandos, than doing exactly the same thing wearing more appropriate gear, I'd be pleased. The 200m in all skills Green098 thread.
  23. I seriously doubt that it was intended to stack with effigies, so it's probably in people's best interests to spam their effigies now.
  24. Geniuses* And it is simply an idea ripped from other games, not exactly original.
  25. The bonus xp stacks with effigies, grats suomi.
