  1. What is such a big deal about leveling defense from 40 up to 50?  It takes maybe one or two hours, at this rate, and it's still a level playing field for everyone.  Unless tacking on 2 1/2 combat levels for rune pures is such a game breaker...

Same reason a level 90 rune pure wasn't accepted into pure clans when a level 100 initiate pure was.

    It's the principle of it.

    They lowered rune to 40.

Erm, it says level 50 in the GE for me...what am I missing?  Or do you mean the brief interval it was changed?

Yeah, they changed it back to 50 almost immediately after.

Them even bothering to change it shows that Jagex understands what I'm saying. They just don't care about legacy mode.

  2. Why would that be stupid? They could easily make legacy-only worlds have different requirements on items. You may not have noticed this but they've managed to run simultaneous combat modes, different requirements on items is not a harder technological feat than that.

Actually it affects a large number of items (in the pking world). I'm only commenting on this because despite what you may or may not think Jagex is clearly interested in putting a lot of effort into trying to get back old players even to the point of offering stat editing for your defence level. How long before Jagex says "hey, you can edit all your combat stats if you just please please please play runescape again"? This is not an effort to placate whiners who dislike EOC but still play it. They are putting in real effort to entice old players back to runescape, I'm simply pointing out things that will keep them away.

A "nice shiny override to hide abilities"? Yes, I would agree with that definition of legacy mode. Which is why it won't do what Jagex wants it to do.

  3. They're obviously trying to lure back in PKers (and other players) who quit when EOC was released. They're releasing the new "Reset your defence level" option for the sole purpose of luring people who love runescape but hate EOC to play legacy but they still have the ridiculous EOC armour requirements. "Barrows" gloves now need 70 defence to wear.

I guess actually releasing a pre-EOC server without it being all the way back in 2007 would do too much damage to the remaining playerbase of EOC.

  4. You do have to hand it to Jagex. Their ability to generate hype and interest is probably unparalleled in the video game business.

Even though we knew already, this just confirms the whole poll was just a big fat farce of pointlessness.

I'd completely disagree, I think both Blizzard and Riot far outstrip anything Jagex has done on that level.

Needless to say I'm happy that there is no extra fee. I won't play EOC RS. I might stay subbed for 07. Not only because I like 07, but also because everything and everyone is starting over. I like that concept.

That's the one thing I hated about it lol, I'd love to already be a maxed zerker. Ah well, 1 def it is.

Surprised to hear that coming from you. I'm absolutely amazed at the number of 1 def pures in 07. They are in for a very rude awakening when the rune pures start effortlessly mopping the floors with them. It'll take a bit for the rune pures to develop, though.

I've been a zerker on and off since before actual 2007 lol I want to do something else :P, I don't want to create the exact build (minus 99 prayer) that I already have in EOC. Besides, I'll only be fighting other pures. If a zerker or main attacks me I'll just barrage and run. I might become a zerk at some point though when pure pking gets boring, I loved hitting 40s with whip back when hitting a 40 in the wildy meant you were a complete beast. 20 def maxes 39 with whip so I probably won't be going with 20 def.

  6. Damn you're arrogant. Must you always be so rude? (That's a rhetorical question, for your information. You really are one of the rudest people on this thread.)

In any case, your proposition makes no business sense. Pay up for the extra burden that a lack of interest will force or just don't play. Like I said before, it's not a matter of offering one or the other. It's a matter of offering BOTH. 2007scape is an extra burden. It will cost more to run both games in the manner Jagex is doing. Maybe paying your $7 (or whatever current membership is) may be enough if enough people pay. But I'm not Jagex and I don't know their financial record so I can't say. I'm sure they're savvy enough to make the proper decision.

But I can speak from experience in maintaining software. If you are forced to support say Windows XP through Windows 8, more money is going to go into making sure the aging Windows XP is taken care of than the modern Windows 7 or 8. Modern games use DirectX 10/11 yet also support XP with its aged DirectX 9. Do you realize how much effort it is to support two architectures that are radically different? I'm assuming not considering you're seriously complaining about a relatively small fee.

I'll talk in your language though. Oh boohoo you don't want to support RealScape! That's where Jagex's future is, not with this craptastic adventure called 2007scape. Bla bla repeat myself here. Did I say how Jagex's future is with modern enterprises, not games with worse graphics than Superman 64? Well I said it.

No it's like signing a contract that doesn't bind you at all, not liking how greedy the contractors become and just walking away. I'm not going to be suing Jagex over this they just won't get my irl gp, for 2007scape or EOCscape. They lose.

They don't lose. They're going to be making money regardless. You're the one who loses by not playing what you want to play. You think Jagex gives one bit about your $7? Not at all.

That was quite rude, I apologise. It's just irritating when people attack an argument I'm not making as if it's the one I'm making. I'm not arguing for 2007scape to be free.

It does make business sense. If Jagex offer just EOC, I will not buy members (like the thousands of people who came back to runescape for this). If they offer both and only both, I will not buy members (I'm sure many of the people who only want to play 2007 will agree).

Jagex will make money regardless. Just not as much. And less profit = a loss, in my books. I went without runescape just fine when they launched EOC and I'll do fine without Runescape again. I would love to PK in 2007scape but if Jagex want to make that difficult then I'll just forget about it.

Sure, Jagex may not care about any individual customer, but I'm not exactly a lone wolf with this way of thinking. It may seem that way here but that's just because there aren't many PKers or pures on Tip.It, they use other sites.

  7. I only voted after the 250k votes already where in. This means I voted for a version of 2007scape with no additional member fee and I only will play 2007scape for real, if this is the case. Saying I shouldn't have voted if I am not willing to pay an additional fee is not a valid statement, because my vote only changes the outcome if the 500k mark is reached which is what I want. In other words: I voted for a RS2007 that's playable without an additional fee and nothing else.

For the people who complain about not being able for RS2007 seperately, you can also see it this way: you are paying seperately for RS2007, but on top of that Jagex gives you a free EOC-cookie. Who would say no to a free cookie? I won't, even if I don't really like the cookie.

You misunderstand, the argument about separate payments is only about if it doesn't reach 500k votes and you have to pay an additional fee for 2007scape. Obviously if one of them is free it doesn't matter which one lol.
