  1. Even though I really haven't been into the whole Elven storyline or the Farming skill this is very nice. I've been meaning to get into things again and this would be nice. :)
  2. I think it's a great idea. Seems like you spent a nice bit of time on this and everything seems great. :D I like how unique the boss is to the game... just seems like it'd be fun. ^_^
  3. That's right, 'Fishing' Trawlers. No typo there. This is my idea on how to improve a good mini-game that is hindered by a poor system. Why? Because patching holes IS NOT 'Fishing'! And because the Trawler is one of my favorite mini-games (not sure why :P) and I feel like it's highly in need of a better system. Like I said, patching holes isn't really fishing. :/ Not really sure where to start with this... (I must of had so many ideas running through my head at work XD) The main point of this was for me to present the idea and have others bring in their own thoughts on it. Sir_Nitram99 helped out alot on this and is credited where he helped. I didn't want to post this here yet (original post is in my clan's forums) until I had the Rewards finished but meh' :D Firstly, :New Ships/Boats & Areas: My idea is to have different size ships. Each size of ship can have certain amount of equipment/types of fishing spots. I plan on having pictures to show my examples of this here soon. Small Boat - Max 2-4 Crew Members. Medium Sized Boat - Max 5-10 Crew Members. Big Boat - Max 10-15 Crew Members. Large Ship - Max 15-20 Crew Members. Giant Vessel - Max 25 Crew Members. The color that each of these are labeled are the colors shown on the maps in the path shown. (the color of the path equal to the color these are labeled) - To the best I can. - Boat Sized 1 could travel to Area 1-2 - Boat Sized 2 could travel to Area 1-3 - Boat Sized 3 could travel to Area 1-4 - Boat Sized 4 could travel to Area 1-5 - Boat Sized 5 could travel to all areas (Areas 1-6) I had a few ideas like having more than one location for the Trawler... so technically it'd be known as 'Fishing Trawlers' :P Bare with my pictures.. I know they may be either confusing or crutty.. they don't have to be fancy. They just need to get the idea of what I mean out to others. :P (They are really crutty, I'm not good with editing to begin with so again, they're just to kinda get the idea of what I'm talking about) I'll list a few of the locations and then explain it abit more. (All locations were described by Sir Nitram99, better than what I could think of so I decided to use them ^_^) - Port Kazhard (Boreal - the same type of fish found in the Eastern Sea which is the sea east of Sweden and west of Finland which has a big lake type of fish diversity with a low salinity) [hide=][/hide] - Rellekka (Arctic - the same type of fish found in northern Canada and around Greenland and Iceland) [hide=] Rellekka is SO BIG there were so many different ways to have a route.. I thought only having one would be wasting alot of space so I made it into two seperate routes.. I just didn't think of how going to one can differ from another... yet... maybe the difference can be in the type of monsterous fish that appear or something. :?[/hide] - Ship Yard/Karamja (Tropical - the same type of fish found around the African western coast with warm water) [hide=][/hide] - Port Phasmatys (Open Ocean - the same type of fish found east of Japan in the deep waters of continental deep rifts of the Pacific Ocean) [hide=][/hide] - Burgh de Rotten (Coral Reef - the same type of fish found in the big coral reefs of the Carribean and around the northeastern coast of Australia (I just imagine that there would be coral reef around the tropical looking island of Mos Le Harmless) [hide=][/hide] (Please note: To avoid having millions of lines in these pictures you'll notice some colors just loop back into the number before, that just means it's going back that same way. I just didn't want to have loads of tiny lines because then it'd really get confusing. Some of the maps however actually go in a circle to going from 5 to 6 it wouldn't make sense to backtrack the entire way so I just made it go right through. I might have made some mistakes so just bare with me.) Alright so you'll notice there is a red square near the land starting out, that's where the docks or ports will be located. Next to it is a yellow square, the yellow square is for a new Shop which will be explained below.. but firstly.. You'll also notice some numbered areas. What are these? This new Trawler trip will be set in different areas in which your Ship/Boat will travel to every 3 or so minutes (depending on size of ship and the equpiment level you have on the ship[equipment explained below]) in which you have a chance of catching certain types of fish at every location. Each area randomly changes which area of fishing (net/cage/harpoon) has the best chance of catching fish. (explained below) :Hotspots: [hide=][/hide] Hotspots are locations, randomly picked when you set out on your voyage. Hotspots are locations in which the chances of catching fish are increased. They also are the only spots you can catch 'big' 'large' or 'monsterous' fish. (explained below) :Getting Started: Alright, you know how in Barbarian Assault to make a team you have a card in which someone gathers a team... however it goes. Well to start this newly improved trawler mini-game you'll need to make your own crew.. after all.. every ship needs a crew. You'll need someone to start off by obtaining a 'Crew Card' with this you use it on other players and assign them a spot on the ship. Examples of this would be: Harpoon spot, Net spot, Cage spot, Patching holes spot (that's right, this is still a apart of this :P but is changed abit) and so on... Once the game begins you'll see the ship take off in a nice little cut scene.. then you'll be prompted that you're near the first area. Once you see your character you'll have 15-20 seconds to get ready. To get ready all you need to do is use the equipment you have on the area marker located on the ship. After the alotted time is up you'll be prompted again letting you know that fishing has begun, then you and others that are in their spots will begin fishing. (You'll be given level 1 gear when starting out and can purchase higher leveled gear later on; explained below) :Big/Large/Monstrous: These only appear in hotspots, now these fish are 'special' in the fact that you can't keep them. By catching these you are given an automated reward based on what kind of fish it is. (every fish involved in the new trawler will have a bigger version) when they appear you'll have a warning letting you know. The bigger the fish, the more damage to the ship will be done by them attacking it. (That's right, the ship takes damage now! which is what I meant by patching holes, but don't worry, the holes will open up on their own.. by hitting rocks and what not... but when a bigger fish comes they'll be opened up at a faster rate) The bigger the fish, the more damage it can do. To catch bigger fish, the harpooners must click on the fish to begin 'attacking' it. Then, when it is 'slain' the netters will drag it in. (system can be changed.. was just an idea) Also, each ship can only hold a certain amount of big sized fish, once you have obtained the max amount then you can't carry anymore. The rarity of these fish are also pretty rare as a Monsterous fish can appear with a 1 in 500 trip rate. (Trip, not Area) (I had originaly planned that the Monstrous fish were just the biggest size that the fish can get (every fish) but changed my mind so that they are their own type) :Crew Positions: Captain: Makes the crew. Makes sure the equipment on the ship is fixed at all times and is able to help patch the holes. Harpooner: Is only able to be at the Harpooner Area. Harpoons fish and can attack the bigger fish. Netter: Is only able to be at the Netter Area. Nets the fish and can drag in the bigger fish. Cager: Is only able at the Cage Area. Cages the fish. Patcher: Is only able at the Patcher Area below deck. Patches the holes and bails out water. I'll post this picture here because I just explained the positions and stuff. [hide=] Alright, to explain it more... At the top, where it says 'Fish you caught:' that is pretty self explainatory. You get points based on how much you've contributed to the trip. The more you do, the more you are rewarded. The icons you see on the right are the other areas on the ship and how much they've caught so far as a total. The dot is the patcher area. :P The Olive color area is where the netters will be located. Depending on the size of the ship depends on how many Crew members will be needed for the net. The Red color area is where the Harpooners will be located. (Note that the Harpoons are tied to the ship by a Rope and thrown into the water then pulled back up) Only needs one Crew member every few squares. The Blue color area is where the Cagers will be located. (Note that the Cages are BIG and are dropped down by Ropes.) Depending on the size of the ship depends on how many Crew members will be needed for the Cage. Obviously this is a horrible picture and the interface for the new trawlers would appear much better. This is just to get an idea of how I see it. Except.. I saw it on the left side of the screen.. I just copied the picture at a bad spot and I couldn't put it on the left side. So yeah... obviously this isn't how I'd like to see it.. this is just to give you an idea. :P[/hide] :The Fish & Effects: The idea of this is to introduce entirely new fish to the game. What I mean is new types of Lobsters, Sharks, Trouts, Crabs, etc. etc... These new fish can be banked, cooked, sold to other players and everything else just like the fish we have now EXCEPT these are the only type that that the new shop will buy at a set price. I had originaly planned on ONLY having new fish for this but after some thinking it over with Martin that'd be about 40 fish. SO we decided that 15 new fish (3 new fish per location, 1 for each job) would be nice. So mixing old with new on this. [hide=The Fish]-Port Kazard(Boreal): Cager - Languster(spiny Lobster) - after eating one only 1 monster can attach you at a time in multi-combat zones that is not quest-related or otherwise not fit for this effect (the effect will last for 3 min) The reason why this effect is that langusters walk in long 1-1-1-1 rows when they walk long distances to go breed. Netter - Flounder - after eating this the attacking players or monster will have their Attack reduces by 5 % for 1 min when attacking the player. The reason for this is that flounders hide very well on the bottom to ambush pray and hide from enemies. This applies so that the player would become harder to hit as he/she gets a little of the hiding ability of the flounder which means he/she becomes harder to hit and thus Attack is lowered to portray this. Harpooner - Basking Shark - after eating this you just have to click each bush/fruit tree/herb to pick all berries/fruits/herbs from it in one go (berries/fruits/herbs that the player can't hold in inventory because it becomes full will end up at the ground). This also applies to harvesting wilow branches. The reason for this effect is that basking sharks are masters at collecting large amounts of krill fast and efficiently. So this effect would manifest itself in-game as the player being fast at collecting stuff that needs picking (the reason I didn't add allotments to be picked this fast way is that it would have been a too good of an effect). -Rellekka(Arctic): Cager - King Crab - Eating this will leave the player with a King Crabs Shell which can hold 4 Pure Essence and it will hold for 30 minutes before it breaks and crumbles into dust. The reason for this effect is that king crabs have a nice ornamented shell and it would fit as a new item to hold Pure Essence in so that Runecrafting training gets speeded up just a small bit. Netter - Halibut - After eating the Halibut, the next 1-3 fish will heal + 50% but no more than 15 hp. (Gives low leveled fish (that heal less than 15 to begin with) a new use. So they will heal their normal health gain + 50%) However, this would mean that eatting a fish that heals more than 15, would heal 15. So you shouldn't eat a higher leveled fish after a Halibut. Harpooner - Orca(Killer Whale) - Eating this will heal 10-20 HP and there is a small chance there will be a 2nd bite that can be eating that would heal additional 5-10 HP when eaten. The reason for this effect is that orcas' meat can be seen as very nutrutionish as have much Omega-3 oil fats and it being very large there would be a 2nd bite (sharks in game now are eaten in 1 bite to get a reference and orcas are bigger than sharks). -Ship Yard/Karamja(Tropical): Cager - Skampi - Cooked Scampi can be used with pie doe and garlic to make Scampi Pie which heals 2 x 12 HP and also give +10 Att, +10 Str and +10 Def when fighting Vampire-classed monsters for 5 min per piece of pie. The reason for this effect is that Scampi is commonly used with garlic to make a Scampi garlic pie that is a commonly known dish in some countries. Garlic has a good rumoured effect against vampires which eating this pie would manifest. Netter - Angelfish - Raw fish can be used with a Fishbowl to get a new version of the current Fishbowl fish pet. When in a fishbowl it can also be sold to the fish shop owner Catherby for 2k coins. The reason for this effect is that angelfish is a very common aquarium fish and thus would make a nice new version of the fishbowl fish pet and it's also a sought after fish to be sold as aqaurium fish which would make it logical that it could be sold for a nice profit and the fish shop owner in Catherby already has some pet fishes in pools so he would be logical to be the buyer of such fish. Harpooner - Barracuda - If the player use a Chisel on a raw barracuda he/she will get Barracuda Teeth. These teeth can be added to Leather armour chaps and body and Dragon Hide armour chaps and body to add an effect that melee attacking monster will occasionally get damage for a small amount of HP when meleeing the player. The reason for this effect is that barracuda teeth are well-known to be very fierce and sharp and can therefor be a good add-on to light armour pieces like leather and dragon hide. -Port Phasmatys(Open Ocean): Cager - Spider Crab - When eaten it will leave 10 Spider Crab Legs that stack and can be used while training Construction to add 10 % XP to each piece you build (for example, making a Oak Door that takes 10 Oak Planks and give 60 x 10 = 600 XP will now give 660 XP and use 1 Spider Crab Leg). The reason for this effect is that Spider Crabs have long legs that could be seen having a use in building and adding structure to constructions and it would be a nice thing to add to the otherwise strict skill of Construction. Netter - Anglerfish - Eating this will make the player him/her-self act as a lantern which means that the player doesn't have to have a lightsource in his/her inventory when visiting places that requires such. The effect will last for 10 min and a warning 30 seconds before the effect will run out will be shown in the text box and also when the effect runs out. The reason for this effect is that anglerfish has a very distinct lightsource that it attract prey with and this feature would be shown in-game as the suggested effect. Harpooner - Blue-Fin Tuna - After eating this the player has an increased chance of getting the maximum coins drop from monsters when they drop coins (this doesn't increase the frequency of coin drops, just the amount of coins when the monster do drop coins). The effect last for 10 kills (dropping coins or not). The reason for this effect is that Blue-fined Tunas are so so expensive in the real world and this could be shown in the game as this effect. -Burgh De' Rott(Coral Reef): Cager: Hermit Crab - When eating this the player will also get a random minor item, rune or a small amount of coins. The reason for this effect is that hermit crabs are masters of making a home out of almost anything and this anything can be holding some minor stuff that the player can get as an extra reward. Netter: Grouper - The player can use raw groupers at the Fossegrimmen when wearing a Ring of Charos (e) to be able to charm the Fossegrimmen to accept it as a shark and it will give +1 teleport on top of every other effect that adds teleports to a Lyre (so with Fremmenik Boots on and charming the Fossegrimmen to accept a grouper as a shark will give the Lyre 5 teleport charges) Harpooner: Tiger Shark - Eating it will make the monsters around the player to become aggressive to the player again. The reason for this effect is that tiger sharks are well-known to be very aggressive. [/hide] [hide=Monstrous Fish]Port Kazard(Boreal): Kraken - the huge squid that is rumoured since the viking days to live of off the coast of Norway and drag down ships into the sea, also thought to be very intelligent and malicisious. Rellekka(Arctic): Dire Sperm Whale - An overgrown sperm whale gone berserk. Ship Yard/Karamja(Tropical): Megaladon - the prehistoric ancestor of our today Great White Shark. Port Phasamatys(Open Ocean): Leviathan - huge biblical sea monster Burgh De' Rott(Coral Reef): Gargantuan Moray Eel - an unnaturally large specimen of a moray eel. [/hide] (ALL Fish & Effects were suggested by Sir Nitram99, all credit goes to him on that) :Weather: Alright this isn't supposed to be a big or major idea to it but it's just an added bonus. When you're out fishing it's not always going to sunny and happy. There's alot of times when weather has a role in things. For example, in the Arctic Fremmy regions it could be snowing/blizzard like conditions that could either increase or decrease the chances of catching a fish. It might also increase the chances of breakage. Other examples of weather could be a light rain, storms, tropical storms... all these could just be a nice little thing to give it more of a real feel to it. :Rewards: Well I figured this was needed. The rewards would be obtained the new shop. They can be purchased with the new trawler points. Alright I said that the trip will last longer depending on your Equipment, what I meant is... remember the yellow square? That square I said was a new shop. The equipment are used on the ship and they are as followed: [*:12pmf5gk]Giant Net - Used to catch a variety of fish including any of the new fish. Comes in a variety of levels ranging from 1 to 5. Each requires a certain level of Fishing and a certain # of trawler trips to use. [*:12pmf5gk]Giant Cage - Used Lobster, Crab and anyof the new fish. Comes in a variety of levels ranging from 1 to 5. Each requires a certain level of Fishing and a certain # of trawler trips to use. [*:12pmf5gk]Sharp Harpoon - Used to catch Tuna, Swordfish, Sharks, and any of the new fish. Comes in a variety of levels ranging from 1 to 5. Each requires a certain level of Fishing and a certain # of trawler trips to use. Also, the equipment can break or tear at times. Don't worry though because just because it breaks it doesn't mean you lose it. You just need to repair it. The higher the level, the less likely it is to break. [*:12pmf5gk]New Equipment - Explained already, however I decided that these can only be bought with points instead of cash. [*:12pmf5gk]New Clothes - Maybe have some in different colors and a variety of styles. [*:12pmf5gk]Charts - Now there are new locations but you'll need charts to be able to travel to that location. Except for the original trawler area. Can be obtained by spending new 'Trawler Points' [*:12pmf5gk]Ability to buy all the fish that appear in the new trawler game. (Only NPC that sells them) [*:12pmf5gk]New Teleport device (could be an equip or just jewelery, can't decide) that Teleports you to all of the locations. (For those that require a quest [burgh De Rott for example] you can't teleport there unless you can enter it already) [*:12pmf5gk]The ability to buy Experience. Not sure what the ratio would be.. I feel like gaining points would be fast, maybe too fast to have at a 1:1 ratio. I just feel like Fishing Trawler should be a nice place to gain experience. (A nice alternative to normal boring fishing where you just click, wait, bank, repeat) [*:12pmf5gk]Treasure Chest [something along the lines] - These can be purchased with points and coffers a random reward. Kinda like a gamble, but more of better items. (Something like atleast 20k; better than getting 113 gp) < - Example. But it can maybe go up to a cash reward of 200k and offer up some other things. The shop also buys the fish that you caught. After each trip if you go to a shop and talk to the NPC there you'll be prompted about how you did on your trip and your cut of the reward. You gain GP if you catch a 'Big' 'Large' or 'Monstrous' fish. After you gain your GP reward for those you'll be taken to another screen which will have all the fish /you/ caught in noted form. By right clicking the fish you'll see: Keep fish Sell fish for GP Trade fish for Trawler Points Since Captains and Patchers aren't really catching fish, they will receive a cut from the total that was caught for how much work they did. Since after all, the Ship wouldn't work without these people doing their job. :Monstrous Reward: I had originaly planned that the Monstrous fish would just give a cash reward (something big due to the rarity) but I was also thinking of things like; [Any of these below come /with/ the cash reward. Think of these as Bonus Rewards. :D] [*:12pmf5gk]Old-Styled Armour/Weapons. These are very old fish, so I was thinking, old fish that are this size have a pretty nice history. Who knows what exactly they have eaten in their long lives. Soo... I was thinking of introducing a new style of armours and weapons to what we have now. (Bronze-Rune) They would give the same bonuses as their normal counter-part but would sport a new look. (Point of this? To give a new look and style into the game) [*:12pmf5gk]Pieces of the Monstrous fish that can be sold to the new shop for a set gp amount. So it's like an added bonus to the money reward you get to begin with. [*:12pmf5gk]A special item that can be obtained that shows that you took down a certain monstrous fish. The reward would be randomly obtained. (thinking of an equip or something) After all, these are saught after fish, why not show off that you took one down? (items would be non-tradeable) That's all I could think of for now. Tell me what you think and don't be afraid to add things if you want. Right now we're in a nit-pick mode so if something isn't liked, we'll scrap it. The Monstrous Rewards were just some ideas.. The ones you buy with points however I think is good enough.. o: This is my first time suggesting something and this is kinda big considering it's remaking a mini-game completely. If you could please help this idea and tell me how to improve some aspects of it aswell as letting me know which parts shouldn't be there. I WANT YOUR FEEDBACK! lol. So please, by all means help out. :)
  4. I heard about this before... Though I think it'll be nice [i really want to change my Runescape name badly] I also believe it would be difficult to do with how many players play the game.
  5. If I really had to think about it... I'd have to say... Fight pits. I didn't see it up there so I wanted to be the first... And I really enjoy the game. \
