  1. SUOMI's current rank, 1975 with 4.2M exp. GO TEAM!
  2. As for the theoretical discussion, I find it quite intriguing. Zarfot truly was an amazing player, although as previously pointed out, simply did not have enough time accrued to come close.
  3. Thank you for your waste of screen real estate there, very insightful. Unless you've anything positive, or indeed relevant, please leave. That's fine, it's your prerogative after all. Apologies for rubbing you the wrong way, it was simply a suggestion, which is always open for debate. I still feel that this is now a valid form of training, albeit a frowned-upon form at best. Couldn't have said it better myself!
  4. Sorry to further perpetuate this, but how can you be so sure? The legitimacy of an account is now being split into two separate schools of thought, in that whilst legitimate and favoured in the eyes of the company, it is not deemed as such by the community at large. I understand that this may mean more work for you, though I would appreciate seeing something added into the calcs regarding the SoF, if only for the fact that it is now a real piece of "content" which is accessible to those players that have the opportunity. Those that wish to pay for the exp will likely do so regardless, and this will no doubt be reflected in the highscores. Refusing to acknowledge it won't make it go away. As they say, adapt or die right? To those that choose not to though, I applaud them.
  5. I'd agree with the highscores perhaps, though I dare say the RS community as a whole is devolving exponentially. Sure, I could simply be a bitter former-player, reminiscing on the past. But the sheer amount of childish insults and general immaturity that is present is ridiculous, and cannot be ignored. I'm finding some of the other games I've played recently to be far more receptive. Competition doesn't have to be cut-throat. Top 15 would be a good indicator of the latter, I feel. All players appear amicable, though that may indeed be due to the amount of time invested in those accounts, and the fact they have been playing, and involved in the community for so many years.
  6. Unfortunately, I allow my moral compass to take precedence over financial benefits, most often to my detriment. I'm ok with that, because the money I earn, I *work* for. Either way, I really cannot fathom how someone could value RS so highly to spend such vast amounts of cash on it. Just as I had imagined anyone purchasing Phats and such was simply a myth. Oh, the naïveté! It's strange, I consider the likes of the high-ranked players, those that have worked so hard, for so long (as we all have/had, simply more so) as having such valuable accounts, particularly in the sense of experience gained over time. To invest further financially, would seem to devalue the account and indeed, the effort, quite considerably.
  7. I earn $200 per day... I knew I should have kept my staking profits :P Or rather, stayed in school.
  8. Free trade and wilderness were removed primarily for legal motivations, and I believe their return was due to a perceived loss of revenue. Had they truly understood the scope of the loss they would incur with the original removal, I dare say they would not have implemented it. Same goes with this. If the revenue created from the SoF update mitigates the potential loss from subscribers, they'll stick with it. As for the QC suggestion, I think that's a great idea! Those who wish to remain puerile in gameplay and experience gains may do so, and prove it should they feel the need. What would the likelihood be of a (most likely unofficial) split of the hiscores, tracking and differentiating between those that have purchased, and those that have not? I do not appreciate the update, sure. But we need to work with what is handed to us, if indeed we're going to stick around.
  9. With the latest turn of events in mind, how possible (if at all) is it to determine the outcome of the spins with any degree of certainty? Does it work on the same function as the drop tables for certain monsters, or another -potentially manipulatable- mechanic entirely, such as timing, or even a PRNG? If it does turn out to be manipulatable, or indeed simply faster exp averaged over time, then I think Poppe may be right. (is anyone able to point me in the direction of any threads focussing on an in-depth study/look at the functions of the Squeal Wheel?) EDIT: Just watched a video of 75 spins being spamclicked. Looks to be fairly lucrative experience gains, though I'm still curious to see a much larger data sample.
  10. Which invariably resurrects the "define normal" argument. Having played 'scape for 5 years or more now, I've gained a grand total of about 20m exp on my major account. Gross experience points earned throughout total playtime would be somewhere closer to 50m, but by no means is that "a lot". "normalcy" is just about as ridiculous as the "efficiency" argument.
  11. Thanks for that mate, really appreciate it! As for the nostalgia, I recall selling herb supplies to Madgamer a number of years ago to facilitate his reaching max total. Rank 8 at the time, I believe. I'm still a noob, and will forever be such :D
  12. First of all, wow. I'm quite surprised that I've finally registered, just to participate in this thread. Secondly, Lyra Silvertongue is a BRILLIANT screen-name for RS, love it. On-topic however, I've been following this thread since about page 80 or so, and have seen people come and go within that time. What astounds me is the blistering lead SUOMI has ahead of anyone else in the game. Well done, mate. You're getting closer every day, and the sheer amount of time invested in this will forever cause confusion and envy in the community. As for the other players, I'm truly impressed with Dragonseance's work, and am still a little stumped whenever I hear news of Green098 ;) Gemeos2, are you able to provide us with the last possible time-left calculation prior to the effigy nerf? I'd be incredibly interested in seeing that.
