This has now been resolved. It seems internet explorer was making me install the 64 bit version of java. I downloaded and installed the 32 bit version and swiftkit java works again! Happy days :D

Hello Ile, Thank you for your message. I do not have chrome. The only web browser I have is internet explorer and that is what I used to download and install java. Runescape works fine on internet explorer but gives me an 'update java' page when using swiftkit. Many thanks.

Hello, I updated my java to the latest version today and it caused runescape to no longer work on swiftkit. I get the 'Please update java' screen. I have tried uninstalling java and swiftit and inreinstalling both, same problem. I even tried rolling back to java 7 and 6 and still the same problem. Please note runescape and java are working fine on internet explorer but not swiftkit. Really do regret updating my java but if anyone can assist I would be extremely grateful. Many thanks.
