  1. Well, with the small draw distance (I believe that's the term) RuneScape has it would look a little odd with trees and other objects emerging in front of the sky, if you ask me.

At least it would be better than how it is right now :P they could have it blue, and not black, it feels like night all the time.

I dunno... Making it blue would just make it feel like a shoddy attempt at making it somewhat sky-like. At least with it being black it kind of signifies there's something more passed what your character can see rather than everything between a certain distance and the sky being completely invisible.

Perhaps our characters just have terrible eye sight?

  2. Mechscape

"Mechscape will ruin Runescape". Yeah sure, it isn't even released and we know nothing about it.

they posted its not even coming out...if it was they won't hide it...

Who posted it where? If it ain't by Jagex themselves, then it's another rumor mill.

But finally, someone speaks out against the pessimism and rants of these new/speculated updates. Bravo.

O L A N: Why would want people to play a game that is only speculated on?

As far s I am aware that is just a rumour anyway, as it stands there is no such thing as Mechscape. So please avoid jumping to conclusions and speculating on conspiracy theories.

Although, personally, I either think he's misinformed or he's lying (or bending the truth). I think there's too much information to suggest "MechScape" is coming out (whether it be with that name, or not).

On topic: I agree with topic creator; the amount of rants at each update annoys me a great deal.

  3. How the heck is GWD a bad update?

    - People could do it without a team

    - No real challenge

    - Not that good rewards (god swords vs whip? )

(the bandos is good, that's true)

    - not really as big as we expected?

    - A lot of boss monsters/areas can be done without a team, as I recall only ONE boss out of the four can be easily soloed. Didn't they fix the Zammy boss anyway? I recall they did something to the guardians to stop them wimpering away in the corener whilst you soloed the boss itself, but I'm unsure if it's no longer solo-able.

    - No real challenge? Ever tried fighting the Saradomin boss?

    - The rewards are great. The GS is a great weapon; it might not be that much better than a whip but it has some brilliant specials. Plus there's Bandos armour and Armadyl armour, both great sets.

    - Personally, I thought it was bloody big.

  4. I voted on Duradel as he's the slayer master I use the most; Vannaka and Lanthus were a close joint second, however.

As for the group of NPCs, I chose the elves. The elven area is quite nice but I don't think the elves are looking quite up to scratch.

Interesting how the Tzhaar monsters are winning; I thought they looked fine as they are. Ah well...

  5. Unfortunaly the formula is fairly complex (at least for your average person, anyway) so you aren't likely to find it anywhere with a "simple" explanation of it.

Also, as regards to your comment on the "XP to next level" message after level 99, in the past once you passed the level 100 XP mark it simply stayed there, no matter how much XP you had. The new skills interface has removed that now, however. If you have 99 in a skill it just tells you your current level and XP.

  6. The only efficient way to level mage would be with ancient magic, so death runes would be far more numerous.

I disagree. There's plenty of ways of training mage at quite high speeds; enchanting at the MTA and stun-splashing to name a few (I believe there's a few lunar spell methods with a high XP yield).

  7. It's certainly improved. A year ago it would have taken them a week to auto-reply to me. Nowadays it takes about a day for them to give a personalised response.

That's not to say it isn't perfect, they still say the most random of things sometimes (I sent in a query on a noob account that was banned and they auto replied suggesting I become a member to experience a better CS service :?).

But yeah, a lot better... A heck of a lot better...

  8. Construction also takes a lot more clicking than fletching and cooking... Not to mention the fact you're all alone in your house whereas people training fletching and cooking tend to do it in groups or near other people.

I bought the planks for 99 construction but I got so bored with it I jacked it in and sold the remaining planks, I certainly respect anyone who can sit through all that building :).

I have an RC cape which gets quite a bit of attention, so I wouldn't say no one respects skill capes, it just depends on the skill.

  9. unlimited bronze bars=)

for members at the desert gate shop

did they update that? because Shantay didnt have them last week

Nope, the only bronze bars in there are in the player stock section, just checked. I assume it's the same for the shop south of Brimhaven.

Oddly enough though, as I was checking the Shantay pass shop I noticed there's 2 bots going backwards and forwards trading (I presume they're trading anyway) Shantay and banking.

No idea what they're going to achieve... Surely the infinite stock renders any auto-buying in the stores useless now... What's more intriguing is why Shantay? He's got nothing decent to buy (feathers being the best I can see).

    Anyone have any ideas? :-k

(Sorry, know the above was a little off topic :P).

  10. Looking back on my old logs of slayer tasks I used to get them frequently anyway, so I doubt anything's changed.

They're decent tasks anyway, especially if you're cannoning; although I can understand getting the same task too much can be a bad thing. Slayer's meant to add variety to training, I often found it to be quite the opposite giving me the same few tasks over and over.

    Oh well...

  11. Can anyone who is a higher level RC (say 70+) give us some idea of how many of what runes you get after say, 5 or 10 runs?

    Thanks. :)

    ~q

    Well I'm 99 RC and here's what I got from 4 runs:

    4a54a25386.png

The astral and law amounts are a bit off as I was using some I had already to teleport, but it gives a good general idea of what you get at the top end of the skill.

It's certainly nothing amazing, but I really think the intention of the update was to give people a faster way of training RC without wasting lots of money and relying on other people (runners). If I'm not mistaken this can gain you similar amounts of XP to working at the Fast Free Laws company AND gains you a small amount of money (not a large amount, but it's certainly better than losing money! :P).

The update itself is useless to me, I don't intend on "training" RC anymore, I do a couple of hours in the abyss crafting natures every now and again but now I'm passed 99 I don't care about my XP/Rank.

It is, however, nice to see they're trying to make the skill a bit more popular, I just hope it doesn't make my cape a common sight :(.

  12. A lot of people seem to be saying DFS which is something I don't agree with really. It's a nice shield but if it's one of the only things you can afford I think there's a lot better to choose from. I bought a DFS one night and sold it the next day, just didn't think it was that great.

^ The above is my opinion of course, and we're all welcome to our different opinions :).

Personally I'd say Bandos plate, and if you can, the tassets (heck, even the boots if you can. The stats aren't that great but they do look nice, better than dragon anyway).

Reasoning for that choice, well the plate simply looks hot, has a str bonus AND decent defence (unlike torso :P). The tassets don't look that amazing, they aren't ugly but they certainly don't live up to the plate and boots; with that said though they're the only legs with a str bonus in the game (I believe) and they're the only legs that sort of fit in with plate. I have a Bandos plate but no tassets so I'm substituting them with torags legs while I save for them, the legs look a little off.

  13. Can I ask what grounds you can sue the suppliers of bots on? I wasn't aware Jagex could so such a thing.

But if the above option works it might make a dent in the amount of autoers around, but I'm pretty sure there'd be quite a few of them left.

Terms and conditions. When you hit "I agree" you legally must follow those rules. If you break them, you can face legal action.

I totally agree with the String 'em High for the bot maker. Find one, sue so much money out of him, every other bot maker will be thinking "HOLY #$(& on a #$(& sandwhich with #$(& on top, and a side helping of #$(&."

Wow, I didn't realise that made the RS rules themselves a real world legal thing. I thought it was the opposite - to stop people from suing THEM for whatever reason (my account was banned/your game ruined my life etc.).

That's also interesting Bobbington, I didn't realise Jagex had any power to remove such sites, thus why so many of the "big" ones remain. But I guess what you said is right, there's not a lot they can do if they keep putting them back up, is there?
