Dude, MD's should not be even close to $300! I bought one 8 years ago when they first came out for $200! $300 for my home unit 8 years ago! You should be able to pick up a portable for $50-100 They are great - CD Quality recording/playback, the discs never wear out or lose quality, they don't scratch or skip. However, the only problem is that there is no media for them. You can buy all the blank discs you want and burn your own stuff, but you can't go to Best Buy and buy an artists new album on MD. You'd have to buy the CD then copy it to your MD.
