minidiscs

Was looking to buy a new mp3 player after my Ipod's hd failed (1 feet drop from back of my car on vacation lol). Friend showed me his Sony MZ-Rh10 minidisc player. Thought it was very neat. Lots of features and very small. Replaceable discs however it is only 1gb in capacity (he told me Sony can squeeze 2gb into it). 3 times the battery life of the Ipod i had and the sound quality was superb. Its not cheap though since im going for the Japan domestic unit (around $300 bucks). Anyone else have some experience with MDs?

A cheaper version is out there apparently. Mz-rh910, pretty much the same unit for half the price but i cant live without a backlight lol (910 doesnt have it, rh10 got a OLED display)

Dude, MD's should not be even close to $300! I bought one 8 years ago when they first came out for $200! $300 for my home unit 8 years ago! You should be able to pick up a portable for $50-100

They are great - CD Quality recording/playback, the discs never wear out or lose quality, they don't scratch or skip.

However, the only problem is that there is no media for them. You can buy all the blank discs you want and burn your own stuff, but you can't go to Best Buy and buy an artists new album on MD. You'd have to buy the CD then copy it to your MD.
