  1. I'm assuming you mean transliterating Cyrillic into roman characters. Unfortunetly, there is no standard for transcribing Russian, there are at least three accepted methods, and that's just in english. Check here for an example of the romanization.

Amen to that. Last time, I picked the wrong, psychotic stoner bus. Probably part of the reason I haven't dated for a year.

    Chunky life

Odd title eh? Have you ever noticed that life seems to happen in spurts? For the past year, I've done NOTHING. Nooooothing whatsoever. There have been no major events in my life, no happiness, no tragedy, nothing. But now, now, it's different. Within the past two weeks, I've started going out with a really wonderful girl, my maternal grandmother had a stroke, my paternal grandmother was diagnosed with matastasized cancer that has spread pretty much everywhere, and my father and step-mother have decided to move from Arizona to Maine. That's roughly ~3000 miles. Now, none of the bad stuff really effects me directly, I see my grandparents once a year maybe, and I already live in a different city about 100 miles away from the folks that are moving, but it's really kind of amazing that this is alllllll happening now. Woo. Anyone else have similar stories of your clumpy lives?
  4. I've gotta say: Clone High God, The Devil, And Bob Futurama I think that Sealab 2021 is cancelled, or close to being so, cause the guy that voiced capitan murphy is dead. Can't think of anything else.
  5. Warm bank? I dunno, I sure don't want to keep any sharks sharks next to them.
  6. Artmoney is a Russian made memory editor, it lets you search for and tweak the memory values in the current ram on your comp. It looks like you have the items reflected by the screen, but it's pointless to try to trade or deposit them, all the numbers are checked before any transactions are complete, so no 3\/!1 1337 hackers try to make money this way. That won't work. It's very useful for tweaking values such as health or ammo in single player games, you can identify the particular memory location regarding ammo or oil and lock it to a particular number. As this is a screenshot of what the game would actually look like if I had those resources, I'm not quite sure what you're talking about kingcomet32. Also, there are at least 9 number nines on the screen . If there are any errors, they are compression artifacts, game engine errors, or an error while viewing the image. This is a real screenshot. For those who are interested, here's a shot of the same page with the real values, not nearly as impressive.
  7. Here's my "uber 1337" bank. Added it all up, it's about a quadrillion GPs worth of stuff. Obviously fake... Thank you artmoney.
  8. Eggs and sperm are both alive, if you prevent them from meeting, sounds like you're "stopping that life from happening." No, I'm not an opponent of birth control. The way I see the issue, if you're opposed to abortion, you should probably be opposed to birth control as well, if you're looking to maintain a consistant platform. I would like to ask a few questions to the "pro-life" people out there. (Only applicable to Americans really) 1. Do you believe that abortion is wrong because it is "a sin"? 2. Do you believe it is right to impose that belief on other people who do not share your moral or religious background? 3. Are you aware that one of the base tenants of this country is freedom from religious persecution? 4. Do you see how this might be construed as conflicting? To play devil's advocate to my own position: It seems like one of the main arguments about supporting abortion is if the woman gets raped and becomes pregnant. The stats I've found online state that only about 0.1%-0.2% of sexual assaults result in a pregnancy. Basing an entire policy off of one or two tenths of a percent of a selected population isn't very sound judgement. Obviously, it should be allowed for them, but as an overall argument, it isn't very convincing.
  9. My personal view: A man shouldn't tell a woman what to do with her body. A woman should be able to do what she chooses. She is responsible for her self and her actions. I know women that have had abortions, and it is one of the toughest choices they have ever made. It isn't "just a form of birth control" to anyone but a sociopath. Besides, medically, the fetal tissue is just that. Tissue. In the first trimester, it is no more a seperate entity then your pinky. And one further point: If abortions are outlawed, they will still happen. But now, they aren't going to happen in sanitary places, and the doctors performing the operation aren't as likely to be certified. The risk to the woman is much higher in this situation.
  10. With the dragon chain, I'd suggest just taking one of your shirts and then creating a bump mapped chain texture to apply to it. Trying to clone all of the links together would be pretty insanely time consuming. I'm sure you can find one that tiles nicely online somewhere, I remember seeing something like that as a Windows tiled desktop in 98 I think. Just a tip.
  11. I'm not much of a modeler, but I do some work with 3DS and Maya. Any chance I could pay you for a model of a dragon med, textured and everything? If I used it in anything, I'd give model credit.
  12. I made a video montage of various pictures and things from US millitary actions over the years, set it to the tune "What a Wonderful World" If anyone would like to see it, it's located at http://www.u.arizona.edu/~jharriso/WaWW.rmvb (Warning, about 9.5 meg) (Shows some fighting and some wounded, but nothing overly graphic.) If this is the wrong place, please move All of the images Vietnam and prior are from the national archives, 9/11 and beyond are from AP/Returs for the most part. Let me know what you think.
  13. Election 2004!! Bush vs Kerry. Who will win? :D :!: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=3589&highlight=
  14. It's not as though god has any "physical proof" either. If, however, you have some you'd like to share with us, I'd love to see it. In regards to string theory "not having any physical proof", I point you to discoveries like DNA. When it was first postulated, there was no physical proof it existed either. We eventually developed the technology to see it and manipulate it. Just because string theory is young doesn't mean it's wrong. You speak of string theory as if it is soley intended to attack god. Frankly, that's a pretty tall accusation. String theory was developed because it was recognized to have a great potential for explaining how things are. Which is really what science is about, right? I suppose you COULD consider it a "god theory" in that it would explain pretty much everything, unifying the strong and weak atomic forces, gravity, and electromagnitism, removing the dimorphism between quantum physics and astrophysics, along with everything in between. The Large Hadron Collider currently under construction at CERN will be used to look for particles predicted by string theory. They'll be looking for supersymetrical particles. For more info, go here. I guess we'll have to wait until 2007 to see, as that's when it's due to switch on.
  15. The big bang. Based on my current understanding of the theories in play, there are two scientific explanations for the big bang. First, an infinite cycle of contraction and expansion in the universe, big bangs followed by big crunches, for an infinite amount of time. Of course, recent reasearch has shown that the universe is not only expanding, it is accelerating, which damages this first conjecture to say the least. Second, if you can stomach string theory, there is a derivitive theory, membrane theory, or M-theory. To simplify greatly, there are string membranes existing in parallel with our own. If these membranes were moving in a wave form, and were to strike one another, a MASSIVE amount of energy would be transfered to the point of collision. This could easily have supplied the required amounts of energy, and by e=mc^2, matter, to initiate the big bang.
  16. I am agnostic, but I have morals. What makes your morals more right than a Nazi's, for example? This is where my pragmatic and relative views come into play. Nazis did what THEY thought was right. It was part of their moral structure. My morality is based on not hurting others, and collecting knowledge. That is what is right for me. Therefore, according to my views, the Nazis were wrong, and indeed, they were horrible people. Society. Cultures naturally develop a system to keep themselves from being destroyed from within. Those that don't, well, they're destoryed pretty quickly. As an example, killing innocents. That's wrong in every modern society, as well as most of the socities in history. All of our moral structures are based on what our society tells us. This varies with each culture, but the succesful ones have a particular set of rules that are pretty standardized. There are moral issues that lay further out on the spectrum that will vary from culture to culture. Take for example, a case of the differences between Western Europe and the United States. I am a resident of the US, and when I travel to Europe, I'm amazed by the liberal views on sexuality. In the US, to find any "dirty magazines" or such material, you have to work pretty hard at getting it. In Europe, most news stands have a section devoted to these publications. Herd instinct would automatically lead us to protect each other. Furthermore, I propose that there are very few actions that we undertake that we do not profit in some way from. It could be monetary, social, or any number of other factors. In fact, we strive to profit from every possible situation. We are inherantly capitalistic. We like to win, we like to be better then others. In saving the screaming man, you gain a friend, or a servent, or whatever. You gain a resource. [credit to Usara for making this point first] I feel that your final decision is ultimatly determined on what course of action will benefit you most. The base questions are, "What could I lose?" and "What could I gain?". Religion adds a third question to the set, "What will god think if I do this?" If anyone can think of a list of five different actions which are not in some way beneficial to themselves, I would really like to hear it. I'll take one off the list, as I know that it's coming, that would be charity, giving money or land or some such to another person or a group. What this does is buy you social acclaim. People think you're a nice guy, and that's always a good thing to have people think. Moral relativity is the phrase of the month. What is right to you, may not be right to me and vice versa. You have no more right to tell me what is moral then I do you.
  17. Why does god help you make the right decisions? Do you consider yourself morally inept without the guidence of some higher power? Or are you simply afraid of going to hell if you don't do what god thinks is right? If that is the case, then if you didn't listen to god, you'd be a horrible person that would do all sorts of bad things. I am agnostic, but I have morals. I don't hurt people, I try to make the world as wonderful a place as possible. I'm even going to become a public school teacher. I don't do any of this because a higher power told me to, or because I'm afraid that if I do something bad, I'll get punished, and as such do good. Basically, you shouldn't need to ask someone what is or isn't right. And you should certianly never "behave because if you don't, bad things will happen." That would mean that if that threat were no longer present, you'd have no inhibitions about behaving badly. How do you know? Are you dead? Have you died previously? Have you seen the afterlife? Have you personally spoken with god? You get all your information from the bible, don't you? God didn't write it, despite what some of the more radical right wing would have you believe. It was written by men, it was altered over the centuries by men, and it is a work of man. I agree that there are some parts of the bible that are grounded in histroical fact, but most good stories are based on fact in some way, and are embellished later. As it is a work of man, it is inherantly fallible. What if they were wrong? Guessing for a moment that there IS a god, how can you know that it intends for you to follow any specific religion? Another thing that has bothered me for a while, whatever happened to the other gods? Judaica is monotheistic religion, and basically the father of two of the other major world religions, Islam and Christianity, that inhereted the monotheistic traits, I'm sure we all know that. However, the ten commandments state that "no other god shall be worshipped before me", or something to that effect. This implies, to me, that there are other gods, but that Islam, Judica and Christianity choose to worship ONLY Yah-wey. So I've really come to wonder, where did the other gods go?
  18. I'm sorry, but I have to point this out. Philosophically, nothing can be proven in science, either by inductive OR deductive reasoning. Science does not PROVE anything. Ever. Also, it cannot disprove anything, as there are so many variables in a postulate or experiment that could effect the end result that it could never be determined with any certinty if it was the postulate that was faulty, or if there was another factor that changed the outcome of the experiment. I'm agnostic, and I have a pragamatic view of relativity towards god in general. And I have to say, I've come to the same conclusion; atheists are not faithless as they sometimes claim to be, as their faith asserts that there is no god. Agnosticism is, as far as I have been able to see, faithless.
  19. Ned Flanders sings it in the Simpsons episode with the meteor.. :P
  20. Abortion is one of the most emontionally difficult things for a woman to endure. Someone that would casually have an abortion is a sociopath, but the way many of the pro-life people portray it, women treat it as just another contraceptive, which is a major untruth. I am for a woman's right to choose. As a man, I can't make a decision on this that has any real bering, so I'm leaving it here.
  21. :o :o SHOCKING! :o :o But seriously. I like Garmarna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rammstein, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Butthole Surfers, Marcy Playground, Rancid, Bad Religion, Horrorpops, Nekromantix, Godhead, Godsmack, Tool and anything by Joe Strummer (RIP)
  22. Sooooo... gods? Powers that be? Spirits? OMG, YES!!!111one I've said this a few times to my friends, and no one has understood what I meant..
  23. I for one hold a relative view of god. God is what is used to explain the unexplainable, and can be a source of comfort. God is in your mind. God is a coping strategy for what could otherwise make a person snap and go into hysterics. But I have no need for this. As such, I need no god, so I believe in no god.
