<[Newp's Friend]> there is some clash with itunes but itunes has a better quality sound

  2. ok...someone asked if this was the place to complain about their ban. I hope I've explained that well enough now in the first post in red. Yes, I added that after I was asked the question by mods who wanted to clarify what this thread was about.

I have a definite opinion on the subject as a whole, but I'll keep that to myself. We have the same problem, here at tip.it, when discussing bans as Jagex does. For example, do we have the right to tell the world that we banned someone because we have every indication that the person is attempting to hack you or that he or she is a perv looking for ladies or kids, but we can't prove it? Should we let those people stay?

Thank God both Jagex and Tip.it try to handle things quietly and don't slander people! And, I think we both feel terrible when miatakes are made.

Bah! I just gave kind of an opinion. lol In short tho...specific ban reasons aren't necessarily anyone's business.

Grrr...this ain't coming out right, so I'll hit submit. lol

  3. Free bump on a locked topic that I had actually considered simply removing. I'm leaving it because its a good example of a topic that is over the line.

Someone sent me a pm asking me to clarify why I locked this thread. As it turned out, he/she had simply misread the original post.

To clarify for anyone else who missed it, if you re-read the original author's post, you'll find that yes, he DID use the word erotic and in fact the entire premise of this thread is to discuss a particular group's erotic idea. It wouldn't matter if the premise was taken from the front page of the New York Times, it still has no place on our forums.

I hope that clarifies things and thanks to the person who pm'd me. I'd much rather people ask than either stay confused or get angry because they assume reasons.

  4. Edit: Please do not use this thread as simply another place to "rant."

Also, this is not the place to discuss specific Jagex bans.

This is only to discuss the recent controvercy over Jagex's banning policy.

Please keep this one easy for us to monitor. ;) ~ Newp

This thread is for you to discuss all Jagex banning issues. All other threads on the subject will be locked.

So, post away and no flaming here please! Serious discussion only!

  5. Although there have been quite a few well thought out and constructive posts, this thread just can't seem to stay away from arguing about banning.

This has nothing to do with any particular post, but I've decided to lock it. We'd need an army of mods on this one thread just to keep it cleaned out. :(

One final note though, which part of the following quote from the article was so hard to understand?

Yes, Andrew Gower did contact us about the article, yes, legal action was threatened, yes, he was angry. Very angry. But is this the reason the article was removed from the site? No.

We did NOT remove the article in question for any reason other than that it was the right thing to do.

  6. Forgive me, but this is my day for taking heat, so what's one more thing?! ;)

Sereiously...no petition necessary. Please give us the chance to work this out with Jagex.

To be honest, also, most petitions are a waste of time. I don't say that because tons of people caring about a subject don't matter, but sometimes a well thought out explanation works better than 1k people signing some petition.

Anyways, we'll do what we can to work things out on our end, if that's posible, and it would really be best if we just dealt with the cards we have. and that is, no sig selling. :(

Since I've been the bad guy today...here's one more time. :(

  7. I think I should clarify some misconceptions.

First of all, my opinion is that she did a respectful job with the article, which focused on Shiva, as it should have. She also did her best to describe a world she's not familiar with. Not many reporters or newspapers would have even made the attempt.

This reporter did contact us, actually she contacted a T.E.T member, who passed it on to Light. After thoroughly checking her out to make sure she was legit, we did our best to put her in touch with any T.E.T members who would like to talk to her. It would have been next to impossble for us to determine who actually knew Shiva best beyond that, but after any possible interviews with T.E.T. (whom she approached,) we would have done our best to help her find those closest to him. To the extent that any of that didn't happen, you can blame me. Please don't blame her.

If any Tip.it member would like to contact her, her name, phone number and email is at the bottom of her article.

  8. I moved the thread about the death of Shiva to the Announcement board. But, I forgot that you guys wouldn't be able to post your thoughts there. You can find that thread here.

Here is a copy of the original post:

Last month, our dear freind Anarith passed away. He was a well respected TET Member and a great Tip.it Community Person. He was found dead in the water of Marshall Lake in Shaler Pennsylvania.

As a dear friend to him this is a severe loss for us. He will be missed. But he is in a better place now. We loved you Shiva, we always will man.

  9. UPDATE: First of all, before anyone wonders, yes we have verified this! (Not that we don't trust, anyone.) It is true and it is the right Shiva. :(

Dummy me, I didn't catch the date when I first found out. He's been gone for over a month now. :(

Anyways, I'm still trying to find out where to send flowers. A bit tricky to handle, since the family doesn't know me. I've called the funeral home and I'm still waiting for a call back as to how to handle that.

In the meantime, I found an online memorial for him. I posted the following message on behalf of all of us. That doesn't mean those of you who really knew him shouldn't feel free leave your own condolences.

Shiva was a respected and beloved member of the Rune Tips online community.

On behalf of the entire "www.tip.it" family, you have our condolences. We will keep Shiva and all those close to him in our hearts and prayers.

I'll post more when I know.

NOTE: I will personally and permanantly ban any moron who posts trash there! That's a promise.
