  1. If I were running a message board such as this one, I would tell mods to lock posts in the "Off Topic" forum if, and only if, a member of the community could be affected in a negative way. Does it really matter that there are two Harry Potter posts? In my opinion, No, they will just die anyhow. Does it matter that something that has been posted 7 trillion times is posted again? Again, in my opinion, it does not affect the community in a negative way. I browse a lot of message boards from various games I have played and this has, by far, the most strict ruleset.

  3. My topic is nothing new. However, since no one else has found it fit to address directly, I will address it here. By way of introduction, let me just say that Jagex never tires of trying to extinguish fires with gasoline. It presumably hopes that the magic formula will work some day. In the meantime, it seems to have resolved to learn nothing from experience, which tells us that it will probably throw another hissy fit if we don't let it create an invidious, infantile world of guilt and shame. At least putting up with another Jagex hissy fit is easier than convincing Jagex's chums that Jagex spouts the same bile in everything it writes, making only slight modifications to suit the issue at hand. The issue it's excited about this week is tribalism, which says to me that its sentiments manifest themselves in two phases. Phase one: shower vengeful, perverted morons with undeserved encomia. Phase two: consign most of us to the role of its servants or slaves. It would be charitable of me not to mention that there is a certain Burkean prudence that animates people like me to pave the way for people of every sex, race, and socioeconomic status to fulfill their own spiritual destiny. Fortunately, I am not beset by a spirit of false charity, so I will instead maintain that its policies are continually evolving into more and more pigheaded incarnations. Here, I'm not just talking about evolution in a simply Darwinist sense; I'm also talking about how I really have no sympathy for Jagex. I mean, think about it. Jagex's argument that those of us who oppose it would rather run than fight is hopelessly flawed and utterly circuitous. "Jagex" has now become part of my vocabulary. Whenever I see someone keep us hypnotized so we don't reveal the truth about Jagex's complaints, I tell him or her to stop "Jagex-ing". Jagex's morally crippled, pathetic stratagems lead us, lemminglike, over the precipice of self-destruction. News of this deviousness must spread like wildfire if we are ever to throw down the gauntlet and challenge its slaves to help others to see through the empty and meaningless statements uttered by it and its representatives. Jagex may be reasonably cunning with words. However, it is thoroughly cuckoo with everything else. Time cannot change Jagex's behavior. Time merely enlarges the field in which Jagex can, with ever-increasing intensity and thoroughness, heat the cauldron of terror until it boils over into our daily lives. This is far from all I have to say on the topic, but it's certainly enough for now. Just remember one thing: Jagex's diatribes are a conduit that funnels complacent thoughts into the heads of daft scrubs. _____________________________________ Ok, this got locked the first time... but with permission of moderaters, it has been re-opened under the condition that I say... this is not a serious post, but the results of a random rant generator I was playing with... (took me less than 30 seconds to make my post :P ) http://www.pakin.org/complaint/ .... enjoy
  4. It could be called world of warcraft because it vastly outselling any other computer game to day, and it is still to be released in China and New Zealand. :P I have a level 51 Undead Warlock on the "Illidan" U.S. realm, and I can say for certain, this is the most entertaining MMO to date. If you have the cash, and the computer to upgrade from runescape, DO SO... you will not regret it for even a second. The world, in WoW, is much more dynamic than runescape, and although I don't have much of a basis for comparison, EQ2. You will constantly encounter things you have never seen before. For example, Several days back, I say a tauren on her kodo mount increased in size 10 fold in the middle of orgrimmar... I didn't, and still don't know what item caused it, but it cracked me up :) People worry about being a "noob" when they start, but the game is designed to be just as chanlanging and fun at level 20 than it is at level 60 with various "instance" dungions to explore, and many, MANY quests to complete. I got level 90 in RS with 85 mining, and I felt more confident at level 20 on World of Warcraft. People also complain about the graphics, but honestly, any one screenshot can never do the game justice... How smooth and lively the graphics are. The trade skill system is also awesome, and for those who don't know: You are alloud to train in two primary proffessions, and as many secondary proffessions as you want. Primary proffessions include: Mining - Same idea as runescape, except ore spawns randomly blacksmithing - Same idea as RS Engineering - make neat gadgets and just plain cool stuff Herblawism - Pick plants found randomly Alchemist - Use plants to make potions, can transmute at laster levels Tailor - collect "cloth" and make your own cloth items Skinning - skin beasts for hides Leatherworking - Use hides to make leather armor Enchanting - Drain the essence from magic items, to "enchant" other items Secondary skills: First aid - create bandages to heal yourself and others quickly cooking - make foods that have special bonuses fishing - go fishing :) The main perk to the game is definately the PvP. The PvP system is awesome, and set up so there is little to loss for death. The battles, even one on ones, are extremely intense and make everything, even positioning, terrain, and timing vital to victory. Mass PvP is easily accesible, as groups of up to 40 can be formed, known as "raid groups". Often multiple raid groups will attack a major city or boss. The game also creates a very good community as it isn't every one for themselves, it is the Horde Vs. The Alliance. The feeling of "it's us vs. them" is another one of my favorite things about the game. The downsides There aren't many, and the main one is definately the cost. In my opinion though, it is worth every penny. But off the top of my head... - if you are playing a PvP server, which is optional, getting "ganked" or killed by some one many levels higher than you, is frustrating, but you can always kill players lower level than yourself to vent :P - Server lag can be a problem during peak hours, 6pm - 9 pm, where the servers can crash and just perform poorly, but in the last week anyway, they have not been a serious issue. If any one has any questions about the game, feel free to ask, as I will do the best I can to answer, must convert more to the ways of warcraft
  5. You said that you wanted one line, but it's difficult to convey such a profound message in such meager words. I'll give you a two-liner and you can cut it down to size if it's too long. You were my muse, bethought an angel, for angelic was your seeming; And here I waste, and I wither, steeped in sorrow, beyond redeeming.
