  1. I was slaying banshees recently without muffs and didn't notice it either because I was typing a post. I had actually killed one. Clicked on another, went back to typing a post. Looked at runescape. Saw I was in lumby. Then panicked because I didn't see my whip, or any equipment.

and then when I opened the bank I saw that there were 3 items in my inventory. Whip, obby shield, and warrior helmet. Dunno why i didn't look there before.

I was fortunate that I had banked my d-skirt, and full guthan just before, because the banshees was a burthroped task and sometimes I do not switch equipment out of laziness. This time I did. Imagine dying at the banshees with full guthan, obby shield, d skirt, whip, and an assortment of regular stuff..... :(

So I lost an glory, RoW, black d hide, runes, and some small stuff.

When will I ever learn? I actually almost died several times already after getting a guthan because the guthan has the tendency not to heal when you really need healing.

  2. So if these companies make so much money by selling gp for real money, who are all the players that buy the gp? I mean it cannot be just a few players. There must be a large percentage of people who buy gp for dollars otherwise it wouldn't be profitable?

Who is buying the gp and why? Don't you know it is just a game and you are ruining it for other people? How can you be so selfish?

  3. And some people actually do not buy their skills. That's why I am not interested in 99 fletching.

Maybe it is the people who want to buy skills that are ruining the game and economy???

is it the same category of people that buy gp for real money?

Forgot that it is a game?

  4. If we don't count barrows (from which I got most items, except guthan spear) then my best drops would be:

    Black mystic, everything except gloves.

    White mystic top and bottom.

Rune boots (hit 80 slayer not so long ago so only 3 pairs so far)

G mauls - at least 10 of which i haven given away 3

Granite shield - 15 or so when I still had trolls as assignment and did trolls.

lava battlestaffs - aberrant specters seem to like to drop them.

And then you have your usual rune stuff, such as rune chains, scimmies, rune full helmets, rune longs, rune meds. I pick them up without batting an eye.

NEVER A DRAGON DROP! except in barrows. Got a d med there not too long ago.

  5. Small skill things:

while collecting eyes of newt in the shop at port sarim I always stop by at the air altar to make some airrunes. after buying a full load of newts I tele back to falador. So i gain 234 air runes and a semi full load of newts every run instead of of just newts. Teleing saves running time.

You lose some time, but you gain some airs which can be used for mage, and some slight RC experience.

    Slayer, cooking and Herblore:

I'm doing mostly slayer. After finishing a task I tele to lumbridge. Buy grapes, chocolate and spices in lumby food chest which I use for cooking. Then I tele to ardougne. Buy waterfilled vials if they have them in store. Empty my load in ardougne bank. Go on a boat to karamja. Pay for trip to shilo. Buy waterfilled and normal vials in general store there. Get a new task. 2 loads of vials from every new task although often the general stores are low on vials, but usually there are at least some.

  6. Yep..I wear:

    - rune legs

    - Black D Hide body (for some mage protection)

    - rune full helmet (they are such a regular drop during slayer I have at least 15 of them in the bank at all times, and therefore expendable)

    - anti-fire shield

    - d scimmy (I leave my whip at home)

    - addy boots (again, a common drop during gargoyle slayering)

    - and a glory. If you want to be cheap replace the glory with tele runes or Ring of Duelling.

    Inventory

    - att and str pot (use 1 dose per trip)

    - 10 trouts.

    - ectophial (=life saver)

    - addy darts (p) for some mage defense, or magic short with rune arrows.

When trouble arises, that is you see white dots appear on the edge I stay calm when I am fighting a green dragon. Nothing can happen while you are doing that. If they come closer I try to get a look, but that is often not possible. Sometimes you can move a bit away to the other side and hit a green dragon there. Problem temporarily solved again. If they try to get into position you can try to move again. If there is only one dot I will not ecto out immediately. I am wearing my black d hide after all. Usually that is quite ok for making them miss TB or entangle. And you can always run if they TB or tele if they entangle.

If you are with more than 1 person at the greens try to establish some communication. Sometimes the other person has a view on the Pkers when you don't or the Pkers aren't in his combat range so they are not a threat to him so they ignore him. But he can then still warn you.

But I haven't been killed at the green dragons yet. I have been close twice I think. Once I ran. There were 3 mages and they were instructing someone on how to PK at the green dragons. I engaged the student a bit. He had me entangled and TB'ed. He got the suprise of his life when I started throwing darts at him. If I had my magic short with me with rune arrows I would have had him I think. So he had to start eating. My entangle wore off. I ran. I failed to entangle me again.

I glory to edgville. Unload. Return back. They were gone. I continue chopping greens.

I actually like it when occasionally Pkers show up. Makes it more interesting.

  7. 85 slayer (81 now).

I thought of getting my herblore up before continuing with slayer, but after doing some chaos druids and reading the interview with Zezima and the other guy (embarrassing, forgot his name) I thought I should stick with one goal. 85 slayer is a good goal because it's profitable in the sense that some money is made during slayer tasks and I automatically increase my combat stats which will be useful anyway.

Currently i am first getting my defense up during slayer. It's 88 now and will increase it to 90 before going back to my other combat stats. I can always drink a pot to get my strength and attack up, but defense pots I do not have. Hence it seems useful to have high defense since it would prevent on average the hitrate against me during slayertasks. Less hits, less Guthan repair costs. Or something like that.

    So small goal: 90 def.

    Big goal: 85 slayer.

don't really care about whip drops though. I just want it because it is so difficult. The time it took me to go from 79 to 80 slayer a friend went from 70 to 93 fletching. Well, I think I actually played even more hours than he did.

Unfortunately I do not think defense will be my first 90 stat. I guess HP will hit 90 first.

  8. Let's say the hypothetical situation arises that your bank is totally emptied, and you are carrying nothing in your inventory. That's right, you have not a single Gp or piece of equipment, or anything.

    Totally nothing.

You see yourself standing in front of lumbridge castle. How are you going to get back on track with nothing but your skills. You friends happen to be offline for the duration of this new beginning.

Where do you start. What are your plans to get back on top using nothing but your skills.

  9. Although I am mainly concentrating on slayer I would like to level my herblore a bit. Currently my herblore is 63. It would be nice to at least crank it up to 70 or 75.

What kind of strategies are there? I don't really want to buy unids. I could, but I don't want to buy the level. I don't mind working for it, but I am wondering what the most efficient way would be.

    1. chaos druids

pros: Easy to kill. teleport to edgeville bank with glory, empy inventory, run back to edgeville dungone

cons: often crowded, but whip is fast. I notice I can often dominate the game with lower level players by keeping concetrated. Not that many high level herbs.

    2. chaos druid warriors

pros. Can drop double herbs. Close to yanille bank. White berries are dropped.

    cons. takes longer to kill.

    3. abberant specters

pros. During slayer tasks and thanks to big axe jack's slayer guide I noticed how good high level herb droppers they are. Reasonably close to bank.

    cons. High level...slow.

    4. farming.

Don't really want to pursue farming.

    5. other ones???

I am curious what kind of strategy other people have followed. I actually stopped dropping guam leaves. Although they don't give much experience they do give EASY experience. Eyes of Newt are easily bought and can be combined with making air runes.

The only herb that really troubles me is marrentil. It's just such a bother to collect unicorns.

I usually make fishing potion instead of superenergy because i find it easier to collect snape grass.

So, what are your tactics if you don't want to buy unids? What is fast? I'm not looking for a profit. I use prayer pots, super att and str for my slayer tasks.

And these little details please that make a difference if possible.

Many thanks in advance for sharing knowledge.

  10. I'm a lvl 107 (currently). This would make me a selfish lvl100+.

In a way all lvl100+ are selfish because it takes some serious effort to get above lvl100. This often needs a 'concentrated leveling effort'. Naturally this is a selfish act aimed at gaining something for yourself; levels.

But that doesn't mean I do not answer lower levels when they ask me something. I mostly do. But sometimes I am chatting with a good friend and that takes all my concentration. I skip the public chat on those occasions. But this kind of behaviour is not limited to lvl100+s.

In fact, I will talk to both lower and higher levels when training myself. Sometimes the lvl120+ does not talk back. I take no offense with that. It's his good right. Usually the lower levels ALWAYS talk back. I don't know why. Is it more attractive to talk to higher levels than lower levels? For me it personally doesn't matter much, but I guess a higher level is more impressive to have a friend for some. I have some friends who tell there other friends that they have a friend which has twice as high level as themselves. That is apparently impressive. I don't think so myself. I was a lower level myself. It's about enjoying the game.

  11. I bought 8k ess yesterday for 15 each. 15 each is less than 30 each, but 15 each is still plenty of money for a low level player. 28x15= 420gp with a single load. A single load that takes a few minutes tops. 8k ess is still 120k.

They haven't cut off the ability for low level f2p players to make money with ess. It just requires twice the effort. It's still easy money.

That's all. Instead of 240k they now made 120k. Still a [cabbage] load of money for a low level player. But we are not talking about low level players here are we? We are talking about autoers and merchants losing out.

That's life. Get over it. I died yesterday training slayer. Lost 300k. How dare jagex!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, wait. It's a game. These things happen.

  12. I do abberant specters in black d hide body and legs. I take monks robe bottom and top with me. Super att and str pot. And 2 prayer pots. And a full load of food.

By the time the food is gone, I am half full of high level herbs. By the time 1 prayer pot is gone i'm completely full, with sometimes up to 5 ranarrs. A nice prayer profit.

    So...melee.

    -----

edit - i was doing banshees for slayer when i was typing this. Didn't realize I wasn't carrying earmuffs. And then I was back in lumbridge.

So this post cost me: 1500 airs, 1 legends cape, 1 Row, 1 charged glory. and 5k...black d hide body and legs, rune gloves, addy boots.

  13. 1. tele to lumby. Recharge prayer.

    2. ecto. run to canifis.

    3. replenish supplies in canifis (restore pot, lobs).

    4. take the boat to the barrows.

    5. Dharok - prayer - magic dart or fire wave

    6. karil - prayer - magic dart or fire wave

    7. verac - prayer - magic dart or fire wave

    8. Ahrim - magic short and rune arrows.

    9. take some restore if necessary.

    10. Guthan - magic dart or fire wave

    11. torag - magic dart or fire wave

    12. go down. Kill a random selection of monsters. Kill the last brother (dharok on prayer. The rest depending on the food situation). Get my kill count up to 25.

    13. Open chest.

    14. teleport to lumby.

    rinse and repeat.

Wearing: ROW, Glory Ammy, legends cape, mystic hat or warrior helmet, mystic boots, mystic top, mystic bottom, staff (slayer, air, ar lava). guthix prayer book.

    Inventory.

Runes: water, earth, air, nats, fires, laws, minds, deaths, bloods (depends on what kind of staff I am wielding). But I do always have all the runes with me for bones to peaches. Very convenient when I run out of food on the brothers. I kill some rats or skeletons, and voila...more food.

Black d hide top and bottom

    guthan pl8 body, dragon skirt

    whip, obby shield

    magic short, rune arrows.

    spade

    1 prayer pot

    1 restore pot

rest lobbies for food. Nice and cheap.

  14. Money is objects which people tend to aspire to; just as is dinner, a coat, a car or a fancy bauble. There is a limited assigned amount of ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâmoneyÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ in any society, just as there are a limited number of dinners or cars. In most modern states, the supply of money is in the monopoly control of governments. Governments use this monopoly position as a means of control and manipulation. Governments change the amount of money available according to their own purposes.

In runescape money is constantly generated. Rares are basically 'antiques' that will never increase in number. The perceived value of them is constantly increasing since they are becoming more rare every day (more payers joining, rares lost in high alchs, in random events, in banned accounts etc). A rare will therefore just increase in perceived value.

    There are several solutions:

    1. wait till runescape dies out. Less players means more rares per player if we assume the diehard player is a rare collector. The perceived value of a rare will go down when there are less people who want a rare.

    2. start a campaign on how noob it is to have a rare. The perveived value of rares will go down if people think it is silly to have a rare (like that will ever happen of course).

    3. Increase the amount of rares in the game.

Is the price increase of rares inflation? No, because rares might be going up in price, other things get cheaper or stay the same price. You would have to calculate the total effect before you can establish if there is inflation in runescape.

And once again; is the inflation of rares a problem? No. You do not NEED rares to play the game succesfully. A phat has an intrinsic value of 1 gp. It doesn't give stat bonuses.

What is the best solution? Do nothing. The reward of having a rare is direcly corresponding to the amount of effort put into procuring that rare. So you'd better work your [wagon] off if you want that Phat. As people pointed out before, it doesn't really matter that there is rare inflation for the amount of gp flowing around in the game. It just changes hands.

Note - rares refer to rares that are not generated anymore. So, not dragon hatchet, or barrows armour.

  15. f2p

I remember mining tin and copper in varrock east mines. Then walk to lumbridge furnace. Smith my ores into bars. Sell the bronze bars at the general store in lumbridge. Walk back to varrock mines. Rinse and repeat. Took a few cycles before I realized that

    a. I could smith my bars in varrock. And sell the bronze stuff.

    b. I could bank my tin and copper ores. Save them up.

I remember when I discovered there was a furnace in Al Kharid. Great!!! So I walked to lumbridge area from varrock east. Paid 10gp to the guards to pass the fence. And I could effectively smith bronze bars.

i remember when someone asked how to go to al kharid when I was mining in varrock east. I told them to go to the gate in the fence. People started calling me noob. I asked 'WHAT???'. Turns out the fence is nonexistent in the area north of Al kharid and Varrock. I felt stupid for paying 10gp each time. 10gp was not nothing for a bronze noob.

I remember when I was mining in Varrock and someone was talking about a trade with 500 iron bars for somekind of armour. I was in awe. 500 iron bars!!! That was an immense job to collect them!!! I was in awe of this high rollers. Nowadays I buy 500 iron ores or bars and don't blink of course.

I remember when i finally managed to save up 32k. It took a long time. I went to the dwarves and bought my rune pick. WOW. I often would fight with it, because my best weapon was still and mith long.

    ------

    p2p

I remember the first time I fell for a scam. Someone was buying a d battle axe for 300k. I had just done heroes and gotten one. I was in world 2 selling a rue scimmie. I traded. He put up 300k. I put up my d battleaxe. Oh How excited I was to make such a quick profit. I clicked fast. And of course I was one d battleaxe lighter and no 300k richer. I felt stupid. I took my last 200k to the heroes guild. Bought a new d battleaxe immediately. Tried to forget about being so stupid.

I remember when I was doing monkey madness. The endboss. I was equipped for melee. I thought it would be ok. I was being killed. I had forgotten tele runes. My glory was my last hope. My glory wasn't charged. I died losing 200k or so. A lot of money for me then. I came back to range him. Killed him easily. Didn't even have to eat. Duh.

I remember discovering barrows. I got lucky. Managed to trade stuff to get a full dharok. I used it to great satisfaction during a few slayer tasks. No, I didn't die. Then I thought I should have full guthan. I went back to the barrows. Got some more items. Sold my full dharok. Got 13million. Went to world2. Got a trade! Went to the kalphites. Stood there. Why AM I NOT HEALING!!!!!!! I was holding a leaf-bladed spear. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR..... That was some months ago. I gave up on slayer then and started doing other stuff. Then the new magic minigame came out. I went there a few weeks ago and got 'bones to peaches'. I started slayer again. Tasks like daggonoths, bloodveldts and infernal mages became enyoable again! Got my slayer up to 80. Went to barrows. Got some items. Bought a guthan spear this week. And now it is time for me to push towards 85 slayer.

Hope i will remember soonish how I got to 85 slayer

  16. What inflation?

It seems to me only rares are going up in price and they are not essential to play the game.

Whips have gone down since it came out.

barrows armour has gone down since it came out.

    etc.

Who needs a purple party hat to play runescape? Nobody.

So, what are we going to do to stop the 'deflation'! ;)

  17. More like 63. I always do the dogs in karamja members dungeon because they still give decent experience. It costs of course 875 to get in, but that is quite peanuts for decent experience.

    Don't forget an axe.
