  1. Wow, never in the past have I so vehemently disagreed with something in a Tip.it Times that I have gone through the trouble to post, but 'Going Solo' really makes your eyes turn red as you read it. To start off I must say I am what you could call a 'casual' player, having recently returned to Runescape from WoW after finding that college really takes up a lot of what used to be play time (classes and social functions leave me without the time to invest in a hardcore MMO), and being generally dissatisfied with Wotlk (Burning Crusade was perfection, Wotlk, not so much). So my standpoint is of a much less time played than the author , as I only play as a time killer when I am bored. That being said, one of the most lovable things about RS is the solo aspect. It is an MMO that you can play completely on your own, apart from other players most of the time, letting you determine your own path. Due to the large amount of time invested in leveling the skills in this game, the multiplayer online aspect is almost necessary, but secondary to the single player experience. Without the multiplayer aspect, there would be no reason to spend so much time leveling all those skills, but in an MMO environment, there is a large player base to which you can flaunt your acheivements and hard work you poured in during your solo experience. If runescape were to be ported to a console, I think its popularity would be almost non-existant if it wasnt online, I mean, sure you finally got those 99 achievements, but its in a console single-player, so who is going to know? Or more importantly, who is going to care? Group questing, while fun, is not part of the runescape experience, and rightfully so. Having been in an MMO environment in Wotlk where group questing was almost mandatory, this can been extremely restricting to what certain players can accomplish. The majority of players dont belong to clans, and dont have a large base of people which they quest with. This would force people to go out of their way and find people with which to quest, and arent there enough limits on what a casual player can do? Friends are a good aspect of RS, befriending people you play with and chatting with them can make the game much more enjoyable. But if your complaint is you dont have enough to make you and your friends interact, then you are clearly hurting for something this game cannot offer. I know it sounds like a broken record, and you may not have realized it yet, but Runescape IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR A SOCIAL LIFE. If you want to do more with your friends, don't fault Jagex for not giving you enough to do in an online game with them. Get out in public, make some tangible friendships, and experience some of the planet we call earth. I wont knock the GE when it comes to its effectiveness. Having not to search down items I want for hours is awesome, and the death of merchanting is great for me, cause I despised merchanters. The GE is a convenience for players, and a very very large one, anyone that would want to take it away to force players to interact more directly is a fool. While the same cannot be said for trade restrictions, the GE makes the game better, pure and simple. In the end, forcing people to interact with each other more by disbanding the GE or more forced group quests would hurt the game on the whole by putting a restriction on what all players can do. On of the best parts of RS is that you control the amount of player interaction you have, and even though you can go through the game completely solo playing and never talk to anyone else, the economy and other factors will make sure that other players have an effect on your playing experience whether you realize it or not. The MMO aspect of RS will always be there, and it is the reason that many players play, and its the reasons that they strive for higher levels and better items, because if it wasnt social, no one would care how many 99's you have, or how expensive your gear is. Cause accomplishments are only so if someone recognizes them, and without the MMO aspect of RS, who will recognize you?
  2. Also, what is the yield of farming seeds like? Do you get alot of good stuff?
  3. Yeah, I plan to stop buy and chop a few trees everyday, but ill only be collecting every 10, I like big surprises.
  4. So i'm a little new to the Misc. and Etc. managing, but i got the basics, however i do have a question about how much cash i need to have in my coffers. I plan to collect every 10 days, so that would total 750k drawn from my coffers total. Now, since it is 10% of what i have in there, up to 75k, i will want it to take 75k a day. I know the calculation isnt done till i withdraw my goods, but how much money will i need if im checking after 10 days? Will 750k do it? And it will all be taken at the end of the 10 days? or do i need to have 1.5 mil in there to insure max output?
  5. Just wondering if this is true or its in my head. It seems like I can only mine 3 rune ess per animation, and no mining happens during the downtime. I have a rune pick and 62 mine, it should go faster then this...
  6. Countered. Countered Rebuttal?
  7. A 3000 gold trade cap? WHAT?! Its too eliminate real world trading and make the game less fun at the same time, a win-win I guess. There is the GE (WoW's auction house, gratz on originality), but that isnt the same as finding and trading, making deals on the fly, and having a player to player economy. I think I speak for alot of RS players when I say give is Real World Trading, its an evil we can live with to eliminate the dreaded cap. You don't speak for every player, don't say you do, and the mature players will tell you that we'd rather have the trade cap than real world trading. Never said spoke for every player (notice the highlight), and I dont think its right that your calling all opposition to the trade cap immature. Either way, you don't speak for "a lot" of players. You speak for yourself. This update was needed. It is not only useless to whine about it, but plain stupid. And it's really hard to call people that still whine about updates 7 months ago knowing that there is no way it'll come back mature. Yeah after a year or two the americans said of british taxation and tyranny "Cmon guys, lets be mature about this, nothing will change." Maybe I have my facts wrong on that one, but I dont about alot of people not liking it, if you want me too, I'm sure I can dredge up alot of opposition to the cap on the RS forums, this forum, and other sites across the net. Im not the only one that doesnt approve of the cap. And you never accomplish anything without voicing opposition, it doesnt matter if the issue is old, you go to the heart of the fan base (here), and create a stir. Quickchat? Huh? I cant type? Why is everyone so quiet? Seriously, what is going on here, is it just a free-world thing, you cant type your own chat anymore? Please tell me my screen is bugged or something, cause I can no longer interact with other players. Then you are under 13, and to stop people from asking for your information they inputted this for pre-pubescent children. This doesn't effect people over 13. Actually I'm not under 13, my account was apparently used by someone in my absence, and they racked up quite a few offenses i'm currently appealing. Then neither of us are wrong here. Fair Enough PKing no longer exists? Soooooooo no PvP? Meh, Runescape was always more of a PvE game anyway, not a big loss. Unless you like fun, then your screwed. Really? because it seems that Runescape is only growing and making more money. Less than 10% of the game was the wilderness and runescape still keeps a steady 180k-200k players a day. I said it was more PvE then PvP, thanks for re-stating my fact. Fact is PvP was one of the more fun things to do at a high level, i would hardly call my arguement 'destroyed'. No, that is not fact. That is opinion. If you would kindly look at the bolded word. I still have have a lot fun at level 124. To me your argument is destroyed. Well, better yet, illogical. If you want to nitpick my grammer, then you share my 'opinion' that RS is more PvE then PvP, and you have still yet to address the fact that PvP has been constricted and almost destroyed, therefore, you havent made an arguement to counter mine. Why is my toon doing that odd movement? New animations? I asked for a humaniod not a noodle bieng tossed around on a seafaring vessel. When exactly did the noodle people invade Varrock? Better graphics. The majority like them, and the small amount of people that don't doesn't even compare to the ones that do like them. Thats just plain wrong. Make an argument. First, im not talking about the graphics, im taling about the animations. Better environment? Im all for it. Better character and ambience graphics? For it. Making my character move like a wet noodle? No thanks. Many people may approve of the graphics changes, but the animations seem to have criticizers other then just me. Even in this very thread. Im gonna flee back to WoW while I can still recognize an MMO. Countered.
  8. I'm currently appealing several offenses that were committed on my account while it was not under my use. I voluntarily locked my account, but it says it is locked because they think someone knows my password. Is this how it is supposed to work? Also, how will I check the status of my appeals?
  9. All evils must be lived with to some extent, I would hardly call it a contradiction. The majority of players do not buy their gold, and so while a threat to the game, I would hardly see it policed to this extent since its major fallout is player QQ. My account is currently f2p until I re-activate my membership, but 30k is still a trade cap, and is innappropriate to force on members. The quickchat issue is that my account was used without my knowledge, and whoever was using it had racked up many Rule 1 offenses, my account is currently locked while i appeal. PvP is constricted, it doesnt have the same feel it used too, just feels.....wrong.
  10. My arguments are destroyed.
  11. I got a bit bored playing World of Warcraft, since there is no solo endgame experience in that game (thats another discussion for another day). Since i desired some solo action, I thought I would re-activate my old Runescape account and jump back into the grind. My login encountered some lets say......shocking things.
