  1. I'm wondering why Jagex doesn't try it in the real world... something like this: TO: Rob Walton Chairman of Wal-Mart First off we here at Jagex would like to thank you for your continued support of our game by selling our Membership cards on your store racks. However, it has come to our attention that next to our cards are other memberships to various silly little games. This simply cannot be tolerated. As you know, if people even view those "Other Cards" they might not ever come to your store (let alone Runescape) ever again! We are hereby REQUIRING that you stop carrying those other cards, they do nothing but hurt the reputation of Wal-Mart as a whole, and deep down, you know this to be true. While we are on this subject, lets talk about other things you can do to not only improve our overall market value, but yours as well, here's a few other forms of entertainment you should get rid of: Playstation 3's, xbox's, Wii's, Gameboys, PSP's... you know what this will take WAY too long, just get rid of your entire electronic entertainment department. Add to this list: Camping equipment, exercise equipment, the entire Toy Department, Movies and Books (For books, just burn them in the parking lot. I'm sure you can find a video of it somewhere on line... oh wait, viewing videos... not good.. that's a form or entertainment that we have no control over. Scratch that, just get some gasoline, a match, and make it up as you go. YAY for Firemaking XP! :) ) Now bear in mind, we aren't trying to control content. We just want to be sure that your stores are safe to visit. Its all about safety! And any place that condones the existence of other games isn't safe, except us (RS, FunOrb, AOG). But *WE* are the ONLY entity on the face of the earth that could possibly handle the struggles of a multi-game universe. Trust us, its brutal. Failure to do so will result in us dropping walmart to something less than Platinum on our "Safe Places" to shop. Thanks for your time. Jagex
  2. @ Latinoking its been in the rules for as long as can remember that you can't mention other websites on their forums, or in game (including fansites). The relaxing of the rules to include fansites, is nice, but the restrictions and limits they put in are just ridicules, and I feel they are asking too much from sites. I remember once (years ago) I was having a discussion on the Official forums about some interesting way to get easy Crafting XP. I said that I read it on a fansite, and someone asked me which one. I said "I can't mention the name since its against the rules. when it comes to the name, I don't even think I'm allowed to give you a TIP about IT. A jMod replied: That was very creative. The post was not hidden/deleted.
  3. From the new and less improved fansite list: Can someone again explain to me how they aren't trying to control content? With your support of ArenaScape (IE Links on your nav bar), I'm surprised you reached the level of Gold... according to this, you should be silver at best. ... the list is all about control.. nothing else.
  4. nah... Just content on fansites.. using the 'removal from the safe list' as their weapon of choice. And if the sites don't bend to the will of Jagex, they'll be removed, which sends a clear message to the user base of Runescape: "This site is not as safe as we thought, we removed them, and will not go into to details of WHY we removed them, you'll have to take their word for it".
  5. One thing I think we might be overlooking (And I overlooked it myself at the beginning) What is the purpose of the Official Jagex Safe Site List? (OH... BTW, It no longer appears on the forums, and the link to it on 'suggest a site' thread is broken as well) If it was supposed to be a list of websites that Jagex trusted as being Virus/Keylogger free and didn't engage in Account Sharing and RWT... them I'm REALLY wanting to know two things... 1) If tip.it was removed from the list... what practice is it exactly that makes Jagex say: That is not a safe site to visit? 2) How does Tip.it's Ads for other games make Tip.It a "Not Safe Fansite" that *IS* afterall, the message that Jagex is sending the RS userbase by removing Tip.It from their list... Something about Tip.It is dangerous, and we don't recommend visiting it... If that is the view of Jagex...what is it, and why would Tip.It (Or any other legitimate fansite) tolerate being judged that way by the site they are a "fan" of?
  6. My Last post for the day.... And I'm NOT trying to start a flamewar or anything... just an open and free debate if you will, but the time is approaching for me to get to an appointment. Like the freedom to advertise items that may interest the visitors/fans/target audience which requires Tip.It to change Advertising parners? (IE: The way they run their site)
  7. Well... I'm glad to hear that... now We'll see what happens when Jagex notices other games being discussed on the forums (Including and entire forum dedicated to Jagex's biggest competitor). I'm guessing it'll only be a matter of time... I'm sure they know we discuss other games on the forums. It's just that with the advertisements, the site was directly advertising different games, with the intention of people clicking on the adverts to play the game. Here's the problem with that though: (I'm putting on my conspiracy hat for this one) Tip.it was advertising other online games long before the 'safe list' was made. Jagex was probably more than aware of this fact. Jagex gives Tip.It a taste of the Affiliation life.... Tastes pretty good to Tip.It Jagex now says: We want you to change the way you conduct yourselves on your site.... or else. Tip.It complies... no harm no foul right? Now what happens when Jagex see's other things that's been happening here (and on other fansites) that they don't agree with. It starts little, no one notices, no one cares... but where will it end. How many times will Jagex use the threat of removal from the "Safe List" as a weapon to bend Tip.It into what THEY want it to be? And what is their goal, to make Tip.It another arm of Jagex? If not, then why would they care WHAT Tip.It and other fansites use for advertising. The Hacker Manifesto: He who controls the flow of information controls the world. Who's really in control of the flow on tip.it? It appears (for the moment) that Jagex has the upper hand. Don't let my low post count fool you, I've been a quiet member of tip.it since 2005, and a user of their services for longer than that. Its a great website, and I'm a huge fan, but I'm just a little concerned about the influence the "Safe List" has over them
  8. Well... I'm glad to hear that... now We'll see what happens when Jagex notices other games being discussed on the forums (Including and entire forum dedicated to Jagex's biggest competitor). I'm guessing it'll only be a matter of time...
  9. @Tripsis Think of the target audience of Tip.it for a moment. Would you agree that the target audience is Young Gamers? Are they going to be more tempted to click a "Click here to play a game" ad or an ad offering to "Clean up your credit report". This is a gamers website, with a young target audience... but not allowing Tip.It to run advertising that is targeted to their visitors is going to cost tip.it money: they'll get less "Click revenue". This *IS* affecting Tip.It... financially, less revenue = less content, more time that the owners of tip.it have to spend in the real world generating that loss of income, and less time working on the site. And while *THIS* may be a burden tip.it is willing to take... what about the "next request" in order to remain in the good graces of Jagex, and the next, and the next... if you give them an inch... they'll take a mile. just my two cents, do with it what you will.
  10. I'm curious to know... Now that Jagex knows that they can control the revenue stream of Tipit, how long before they try to take control of Content? I could see an email being sent that may say the following: if you wish to remain on the Safe Site list, we are requiring you to remove all links and discussions to Arenascape, which is described as a MMORPG and therefore a direct competitor to RuneScape. or If you continue to allow your visitors talk negatively about our (Latest Quest/skill/update) without giving us the authority to delete posts we feel are 'inappropriate' We'll be forced to remove your site from the "safe Site" list. The 'marriage' of fansites to Jagex is something I've always been leery of, and allowing them to dictate content (even the annoying content like Advertising... an understandable necessary evil) is exactly what I thought the end game of the "safe list" was all about. I wonder how many other fansites are willing to do whatever it takes ('er... what ever jagex tells them to do) just to remain on that precious "Safe Site" List.
  11. Does anyone know the MAX damage a Green dragon can do when you DO NOT have any Fire Breath protection?? Thanks in advance to anyone that can give an accurate response.
  12. As far as I can tell with most PK'ers the rules are: 1) If you use Prayer you are a prayer noob and shouldn't be on a PVP world. even though prayer is a combat related skill, (that's why your combat level goes up when you level it) 2) if you have higher defense than the person attacking you, you are a defense noob, and shouldn't be on a PVP world even though defense is a combat related skill, (that's why your combat level goes up when you level it) 3) if you have Better Range, you are a Range noob, and shouldn't be on a PVP world 4) If you use magic more effectively, you are a mage noob and shouldn't be on a PVP world. 5) If you eat food, your a "Safer" and don't belong on a PVP world 6) If you use potions You're a "potter" and don't belong on a PVP world 7) If you Fight to the end.. but use a protect item prayer.. you're not only a Prayer Noob, but a ONE ITEM prayer noob... This give you two reasons that you shouldn't be on a PVP world. 8) If you fight back... and win... you a noob, and don't belong on a PVP world 9) if you fight back... and die.. you wasted the PK'ers food. You're allowed to be there (since you died), but you'll be frowned on by other PK'ers because you cost them money. 10) If you don't fight back, but have no weapons or armor, you wasted the time of the PK'er, and don't belong on a PVP world 11) If you are fighting, and are told "other rules" and don't follow them, you've broken the code of PK'ing, and don't belong on a PVP world 12) If you are fighting, and you want to say..."I have this rule..." you're a noob, and don't belong on a PVP world. 13) if you run, and live, your a noob 14) if you run and die, your a noob 15) if you teleport and live, your a noob 16) if you teleport and die, your a noob (this one might actually be true) 17) if you use teleblock, your a noob. 18) if you get teleblocked, you get laughed at, and are still a noob. 19) If you Have Full Dragon Armor, a Gawd sword, 14 P-hats in your pack, and the rest of your inventory is Santa Hats and halloween masks, have auto-retaliate turned off, and thank the PK'er for "lightening the load" just before you die... You're free to hang out as long as you want... but you're still a noob. I think that pretty much covers all of them. All the goofy rules that PVP pures have come up with just amaze me... "Hey you can't use that... cuz that might help you win... " Bah.. bunch of whiners...
  13. Need to update the images... they don't have the "ragged" edges on them anymore
  14. Thanks for all the kudo's people, If I find a better/faster way to do this, i'll be sure to post it!
  15. Just a quick update... the prices have changed since I wrote this... You can now make 1M in about 2.5 hours using this method. Here's the pic from forums:
  16. Little update: Just did some quick checking, I only get 800 an hour from Lumby Swamp, and 1100 and hour from boat.. this is much MUCH quicker.
  17. I'm thinking that this is faster since you don't have to bank when you run out of Anti-poisons, and you don't have to runn down the cave slimes... I will say this though... I used to go into the caves with 20 Anti-Poisons (4).. and I could get about 1500 before running out... not too shabby...
  18. Kewl... I was wondering about that... Now its confirmed
  19. I would say coifs for faster XP, but Flax sells if your after the money, and also helps your fletching skill if you are after skill levels. To be honest... I haven't finished Lunar, So I'm not sure.. but if I had to guess, you'll be able to come back... It seems to be the way you get to lunar island. Also, I think its better to pick the tars alone for speed.. Picking the tars is like picking flax... when the barrel empties for you, its empty for everyone (but the refill speed is pretty fast). You could bring a friend or two.. and just have 1 person at each barrel.. but it would probably be more efficient just to have your firends on different worlds picking their own 3 barrels, and just using PM to chat. I'll add ya... But I'm not on very often lately (in the process of moving). I should be back to my regular playing schedule in a couple weeks.
  20. I usually sell all of mine within 5-20 minutes after posting them on forums. I've never had a problem with them. Not bad for 12:45 AM Pacific on a Wednesday.. it would look better if it were a busy afternoon...
  21. It pretty much is the Flax method.. but no need to bank run.. Tar is stackable... Flax is not. I don't think most people get 1100 flax an hour.
  22. Yup.. You can stay there as long as you want.. Bring Tele Runes (or use the freeby Lumby tele... Leave for other things... and come back... I've done it a number of times.. and STILL haven't finished the quest (Lunar Doesn't really appeal to me) When you want to go back. Go talk to the boatman that took you there the first time he'll say something to the effect of "I wish you would make up your mind, I'm not a taxi service" and you'll be popped back to the base of the boat (ScreenGrab one on the first post of this thread).
  23. I'll admit it can be a little boring, but it pays the same as bowstrings, but you don't need to do all the bank runs (tar is stackable, flax/strings aren't) so that makes it a whole lot faster.
  24. Swamp paste is VERY easy to get, buy it from the ship docked at catherby starting at 75gp, switch worlds, and repeat. You can skip the flour runs to Sinclair that way.
  25. Requirements For Lunar are: Quests: The Fremennik Trials, Lost City, Rune Mysteries, Shilo Village Skills: Level 61 Crafting, Level 40 Defence, Level 49 Firemaking, Level 5 Herblore, Level 65 Magic, Level 60 Mining, Level 55 Woodcutting I'm not sure if the Skill levels are required to start or are just needed to do parts of the quest...I was well above these before I started the quest (actually, I haven't even finished Lunar yet).
