  1. So I worked hard this weekend and got 98 strength. It was awesome, I was doing nechryaels and I knew it was coming up. I was excited, and now I'm close to 99. woohoo. So the note thingy that we got for exp I used for dungeoneering and runecrafting. I realise immediately that I should have put some into herblore. oh well, the end of september is for that. Runescape is currently fun for me and I'm enjoying it, I really like the BTS they just released, and am looking forward to most of the content. What I've realised is that I need to do the latest penguin quest soon, but I don't really have any motivation to do it.
So thats an epic goal for me that I completed, and i'm happy that its done.
So elsewhere in the world work has been going well, and I'm feeling that I'm starting to really understand what I'm doing. I've got a grasp on how things are, and finally understanding the business as a whole.
In non work news I've been working hard on Tae Kwon Do and had a 6 hour training session yesterday and am prepared for the upcoming grading. While I'm physically ready, I'm not sure about the mental and theory side of it. Hopefully i can get around that in the next 2 weeks.
I've also been studying for my theory assessment for my fitness instructors qualification. Its 2 and a half weeks away and I don't think I've got too much left to learn. Its not really difficult, its just quite a bit to learn.
I'm struggling at the moment to fit in everything I want to do. I've got a tendency to use the time immediately after I get home to either practice guitar or learn theory, then go out, to the gym or tae kwon do, and use the early time efficiently, but then once I get back I only tend to watch crap or play dark souls. I feel like instead of just practicing guitar I need to schedule some time in somewhere to record all the ideas I've got so that I can get some decent songs out and get an idea how to compose a lot better than I have been to really develop my song writing style.
Things at home are a bit weird at the moment, and I'm not going to go into that here, but it is the reason I'm spending a lot of time out doing things that take up a lot of time and doing a lot of things that are to be done on my own.
    Peace -x-
(so I've read this through and it makes no sense, but its whats on my mind)
  2. Day of awesome

I woke up today to turn my computer on and immediately found some where to watch the ufc event that was on. the event was good, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it.

After that I went to the science centre and met up with a friend on the way so that we could explore the science centre and have some fun. I had a good time there and there was lots to do, lots of hands on stuff and it was exciting.

After that we went to get some dinner, well, it was my first meal of the day but it was about 6pm, and I had some amazing indian food and it was 7 different kinds of gloriously yummy.

We then went to 2 of the shopping centres to see what they were like because I'd not visited them before and really wanted to look in the music shops and have a good look round.

It was a good day, and now I'm way behind on my report writing, but oh well.

I've not really done much over the past few days. The last TKD session was on friday, and I got to say goodbye to everyone, and it was awesome.

    Not much else to say.

    Peace
  3. So I'm back, after a week away in Japan, a weird week where I had someone to talk to at any time, and right now feel lonelier than I have in a long time as I didn't use my time to talk.
(I haven't slept much last night, but was determined to be fixed so I can start my week well, so this may all be a little strange with no flow but eh... I hope is at least a little coherent)

    Japan.
    An amazing place.
    A place I adore.
Somewhere I don't know if I want to visit again.
I went to visit my sister and meet my dad, both of which I spent nearly all the week with, which was strange. I usually am alright with being around people, but not for prolonged periods of time, which is where my problems lie. Oh well. So, here I am, back in Singapore, feeling good about going into the lab tomorrow, looking forward to it, but feeling a little down that Japan wasn't as amazing as last time, but still, I've got something to talk about.
When in Japan I visited Nagoya, and one day went into the Valleys surrounding to visit a village called Hiraoka, which is an absolutely amazing place, and the scenery in that area is truly incredible, hopefully the picture I asked my dad to take will come out well, and I might post it on here.
I expected so much from Japan, but got so little, my love for electronics and gadgets is clearly not what it used to be, and the fact that everything is the same in their currency as last time, but its worth twice as much as last time, due to the exchange rate, was infuriating as everything was horrendously expensive.

The trip gave me time to think, not specifically about my work and what I'm doing right now, but where I want to be next year, what I want to be doing, how I'm just coasting through taking opportunities as they arrive rather than hunting them down, and how nothing ever goes the way I expect, not in a bad way, but in weird and drastically different fashion to what I expect.
Now I thrive to be brilliant at what I do, and give a solid effort with every thing I try, and I gave my all at Ultimate Challenge last saturday, before catching my flight. It was a serious camp with a 6 hour training session, which seemed never ending after the 3rd of the 5 major stations, especially when hunger kicked in, and everyone became a little de-motivated, but everyone kept everyone going and it was definitely one of my best experiences in Singapore. I want to apply what happened at this camp to everything, from the team work and constant encouragement to the positivity that everyone had, and the personal drive and my willingness to complete the task at hand. So much so that I'm gonna cut back on the martial arts, try and work at the weekend and really complete this project in 6 week that I have left here. I don't have too far to go, but at the same time I have a lot of work to do. I've got to do all the lab work, and a 40-60 page report on the work that I've carried out.

I'm still unsure whether to pursue a PhD or go get a Job so I can have some money for once in my life and feel like I'm doing well for myself. I have a ridiculous list of things I want, things I want to accomplish, and I feel I can do them, but at the moment it all feels a little overwhelming that soon I'll finish here, have 6 months to really decide and get on with my life.

Now this week I'm getting back into it, lab work begins tomorrow at 10 am, I'll get in then leave I reckon after 8 pm, then Run in the evening a big lap. Hopefully see my mates during the day and sort my flight back to the UK out and move it a week and a half earlier so I can get back to the UK and to Northampton, my home town, where my best friends are, for my Birthday... the only one I'll properly have spent with them... ever... so far I think...

I wonder how many of you read the whole thing. I thank you for reading. Even if its not many people I feel this blog helps me really externalize and locate anything that seems to be going wrong, as much for personal reference as for other people to read.

Now I'm tired, not sure what I've written, not sure if it makes sense. Hopefully a more sensible blog will approach on tuesday, but as for me, I'm off to bed.

    Peace
  4. Cheating

So, unlike most people are expecting with a title like that, my blog will talk about cheating in games, but first something more fun/delicious.

Today I decided, as I'm going on holiday and I've been particularly good all week with all my food, despite double lunches and large amounts of food for dinner, that I deserve a day where I can eat crap food and as much of it as I like. So I'm having a cheat day, and so far I've had cookies, crisps, mentos, peanut m and ms, i'm just about to have sandwiches with peanut butter, jam and m&m like things, then skittles and finish off with some mints.
    YAY!!

So, another topic, cheating in games. When I was young cheating in games seemed like it'd be fun, and usually the codes were unlocked after completing the game, however, upon reviewing how many games had cheats, and whether they were useful or not, it really detracts from the game. I'm also glad that some games did have cheats, like GTA3, where once you'd completed the game there wasn't much to do so getting a large arsenal of weapons with lots of ammo was only a few quick button presses away, this is specifically the only game i can remember actively cheating since I've been playing games, that wasn't banjo kazooie that gave you most of the cheats throughout the game. Now, looking back at it, I feel my experiences of those games have declines as the cheating might have detracted from any game that was potentially good. Things like being rewarded for completing a game however, like Stealth, or the Bandana from MGS was a reasonable item to use, as it showed that you'd already completed the game, and you actually earned this item that makes parts of the game significantly easier. However nowadays most people I know don't cheat in games, and I don't think there is as much scope for cheating since the introduction of achievements, like gamerscore and ps3 trophies, as it'd detract from actually earning these legitimately.

I have no idea if what I just wrote makes sense.

    Oh well.

In other news, I'm going to Nagoya, Japan for a week, so my next post will be a week on Sunday, I think it'll be about the 24th.

    Peace
  5. Wooooo

So I haven't played runescape in a week.
But I've done some work in the lab. And its going well. I'll be working and studying this weekend. Which, although it sounds boring I'm really looking forward to.
I realise when I get home theres so many different games I want to get. Namely Resident Evil 5, Black Ops, and some others. I really wanna get a ps2 again and get some games for that that i miss.
I don't really have much to write as I've been drinking this evening and am not thinking straight. Theres a big seminar tomorrow that i'm going to and looking forward too and my friends are going with me, I actually cant wait.
    Oh well.
    Peace
  6. Bruised but not Broken

So last night I went to the BJJ session, and got choked twice pretty severely due to my resistance to letting myself give up easily. I actually cant remember the result of one of the grapples, but I know I lost, and it was the first loss I'd taken in the club. I'd won my first two, first by guillotine, with terrible technique, and the second by releasing an arm triangle after nearly gassing my arms (and afterwards finding out that i'd nearly made the other guy tap), retaining side control and securing a kimura. The next 3 bouts didn't go so well. Like I said I can't remember the outcome of the first loss, I know I tapped but I have no idea what to, the next came to the same guy, this time by triangle choke, after I accidentally went towards the wrong leg he sank the choke in deeper, I struggled until I was almost ready to go then tapped, I just couldn't get out. The next came to my friend that I'd met and can riff on the UFC with, and after he took my back early, about 3 mins later he finally sank in the RNC, the first person to secure that choke on me, but everyone else last night attempted, but I'd managed to avoid it.
During these bouts I got really bad abrasions on my arms that are significantly large bruises right now, and I've done something to my shin, it feels like one of the worst bruises I've ever had, but there is no sign of any skin damage. And in the last bout, when my opponent slid his arm across my face at one point he busted my lip open, which caused there to be some blood around, and my first blood injury in the club. I might have been beaten, but I feel I'm still learning and progressing well, and that nothing can hold me back.

Today I played some runescape, and got 80 mining, about 50k exp today, which was good then collected my mtk. I think the motivation is there if i want it, but if not I can be very lazy.

I've been slacking at work something atrocious, but I think everything will pick up next week, as I'll be working hard, but tomorrow I'm off to the city centre to enjoy all the festivities of the F1 GP for the whole weekend. I hope to get lots of pics and maybe some videos.

    Peace

Edit: Upon reading a thread in off topic just now, and feeling like that thread is getting nowhere productive, I want to post my ideas here, rather than using a post in that thread.

The vegetarianism post in off topic kinda got on my nerves, as people are throwing incorrect facts around about the subject, and some people were posting things that made no sense at all, like one post claiming that if vegetarians aren't eating protein then they need iron supplements. As a chemistry student this sounds preposterous, as protiens are complex carbohydrates, made predominantly of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen, and have nothing to do with iron. And some vegetables contain large enough sources of iron, spinach is the first that comes to mind.

So I'm a vegetarian, I've always been a vegetarian, I'm not interested in eating meat, I have no problems with others eating meat, I believe its a choice everyone has. I'm a healthy person, a little overweight by my own admission, but I'm currently on a diet that I've formulated myself, and I'm happy with how its working. I've never had to take supplements, I've never been deficient of anything, and I've never felt that anything is missing in my diet.

I don't push vegetarianism on anyone, as I believe doing this perpetuates the pushy vegetarian image that everyone knows of. I've met some people who actively try to get people to stop eating meat, and I found that they're misled with a lot of the facts that they've accumulated, and despise their attitudes towards this. It also occurs that people who eat meat might be unaware of how things work and what goes into the food that they eat. While I know that I'm relatively uninformed of accurate information, I can tell when something isn't sounding right, like many things being posted in that thread.
  7. Motivation

So I've been trying to get motivated to play runescape a bit more, but due to my real life I'm having problems trying to find time, but thats good, right?

Well, runescape is one of the two games that I have to play here, so its nice to relax and play. But, I'm also trying to loose weight and get it better shape, but that seems to me to be taking over my life. I'm struggling to find a balance between the 2, and the work that I'm also carrying out, not to mention my poor financial situation, aren't really helping.

My lab work is alright, although things are still not being as good as they could be.

My motivation for getting in better shape is that I want to have something to show from being away and working hard at things, and so far I've lost 20 lbs, and am now 11 st, which I am very pleased with, but I still know I could loose more.
Fueling me for my work is the desire to get a paper published this year, and have get a high mark for my project report.
But I'm having a hard time trying to figure out a reason to motivate me to play runescape at all.

In other news, I have a 3 day weekend coming up for the Singapore GP, and am very much looking forward to it as it looks to be an exciting event happening. Also, UFC 119 is coming up, and I'm looking forward to one of the fights specifically, but it looks like the whole card should be thoroughly enjoyable.

    Peace
  8. Not much...

Not much to say. My grandfather died yesterday morning. Made me sad, not really done anything worth mentioning, just trying to deal with it being so far from most friends and family.
    RIP Grandad.
    Peace
  9. Victory

at least I reckon it is. I achieved 99 fletching yesterday morning, and on the way got 86 smithing, which is nice. I'm now working on 80 mining, from 79. So things are going well.

But I now have much less time available as I realised I should be working harder, as i've been slacking a little. I finished my gymnastics classes this evening, and started brazilian jiu jitsu yesterday. In the BJJ class I managed to submit the club president after a well fought 8 mins, although I'll admit that my horrible technique caused way more damage than I realised at the time. I also grappled with another of the club members, submitting him twice, once with an armbar, and once with an omoplata. I used an arm triangle from the bottom as a sweep to gain top position then mount in one of the bouts, but didn't finish the bout with the submission as again my technique in some moves is poor.

My back pain is subsiding, as I'm constantly doing stuff to keep me active and strengthening the area thats been feeling rubbish.

My lab work is going ok, although I still haven't got any further in my reactions, but am hopeful my key reaction will pick up soon.]

    peace
  10. Ruined

Now I was working hard, and being very determined in completing my 99 fletching goal.
But my plan has been ruined. Due to the announcement of the bonus xp weekend, addy bars have increased in price, and the availability is poor to bad. Which means I'll now be losing money on this, and I reckon it'll take longer as the bars won't buy, which is infuriating.
However, this weekend I got both 82 smithing and 96 fletching, which is good, however progress will be slow. So I think firemaking and other skillls will be levelled in the mean time. I have about 61.5k of maple logs, so work on that should be easy.

On friday I dropped one of my products all over the section of the lab i was working in, just after i'd finished puriying it. So, Tomorrow, I'll be starting right again, from the beginning. Hopefully I'll be able to burst through the reactions and get to the point i'm at right now in less than a week, which would be nice.

So this week started off stupidly well, but due to user error in one part, and jagex letting people know about the bonus xp weekend in the other, has ended on a low, which is a little disappointing. Never mind, things can only get better.

    Peace
  11. 2 Weeks on, Half way done.

So this is my 7th blog post, exactly 2 weeks after starting this blog. So far I feel this blog has been a revelation to me.

This blog is pushing me to advance, but enjoy what I'm doing, and I'll be honest that I feel it is doing me a lot of good.

Today, I have just gone over my halfway point in making the arrow shafts. So in my opinion I'm nearly hallfway through this whole campaign to 99 fletching and 86 smithing, however having gained only one level so far it still seems like 99 will be a while off. I took a break as well, burnt quite a few logs and levelled firemaking up, so am now 85 fire making. I have thousands of maples sitting in my bank from MTK, so using them for firemaking is a viable way for me to level firemaking for no real cost.

My labwork hit a wall yesterday. A reaction carried out by someone else in the lab promised a 10 minute reaction time under stupidly mild conditions, however to get the reaction to proceed, my reaction required heating at 60 degrees celcius overnight. It made me frustrated no end when the person who carried it out kept referencing different compounds saying that it should go immediately, however he has absolutely no knowledge of how my molecules behave, so was really not helping me at all. I decided that it needed to be heated and as such set everything up and left it over night. Subsequently, I turned up this morning fearing the worst with no expectations for what could have happened. I was pleasantly suprised when all my original compound had gone and a new product had been formed. However, the solvent it was in is a pain to remove, so i haven't confirmed what i've isolated yet and its drying at the moment. hopefully tomorrow. However, what is fun is that my materials start yellow, go orange after one step, stay orange for 2 more steps then go bright red. The next step I think should be white, or a colourless oil.
I also realised that what i'm doing hasn't been amazingly productive due to my poor amount of material, so I'm going back to the beginning and dragging as much material through all the reactions as i can. I should be at the same stage by about wednesday next week I think, with hopefully a lot more material. I've been writing a report as well, planning out what i'll be doing over the next 2 weeks, and hopefully I can have my glorious final compound.

I started learning afraid to shoot strangers by Iron Maiden the other day, and i must say its definately one of my favourite maiden songs, but it makes me really want to get their new album, but right now there is no way i can afford it. oh well.

I'm gonna be writing up a lot of stuff this saturday I think, as I've written a list for the computer games forum, and need to type it up, and also been doing some fiction type writing. As well as that I have project stuff to write up, which is more important than the others, but the others are helping in my ability to write, as is this blog, as it is something that I feel I'm not very good at.

This Sunday I'm going to the beach for a barbeque with friends, and as such have a feeling that this weekend is gonna be awesome.

I think I should start getting some pictures on here, but I'm not too sure where to host them...
    Oh well
    Thanks for reading.
    Peace.
  12. Working Hard?

So I've been working on fletching all day. But I've not really advanced in my lab work for a week. Today I cut about 10k logs into arrow shafts, so I only have about 3k left to cut. Which is fun. This week my supervisor isn't around, but I'm going to be pushing on with my work, and trying to secure a total synthesis, actually thats a 2 week plan, dragging as much through from the early stages as possible, although I'm more than likely going to get no more than 2 steps further. I can dream.

So this weekend I've cut about 150-200k arrow shafts, and thats about all in scape. And its a hilariously poor amount of xp.

I've also been running yesterday, and intended on going today, but it thunderstormed for a while, and then i didn't feel like it.
I shaved my head too, which was fun, and now I'm kinda thinking new hair, new attitude, which is interesting, and is certainly gonna help me this week I reckon.

I honestly have no idea how this week is gonna go, hopefully well, and hopefully I get some good results.

I really really want the term to start here so I can take up kickboxing and something else, probably jiu-jitsu, because at the moment I'm not being as active as I'd like to be.

I really meant to write earlier, as its now 1am here, and I have to be up relatively soon so that I can get my week off to a good start.

I'm really feeling 96 fletching this week, and I might even do something else as well, to break up the monotony.

    Peace
  13. Head First!! (into the floor)

So today I started playing, after a while I stopped, and did some calculations, figured out exactly the materials i needed and purchased everything for my epic mission to 99 fletching. So I got stuck in to cutting, and things were going well, until i started trying to multi task on my laptop. Turns out, if I frequently switch between windows, scape wont recognise my keyboard so I can't input anything, which is kinda infuriating when trying to blast through some simple tasks. Oh well, nevermind, life goes on.

Yesterday I went to gymnastics, and while I didn't learn anything specifically new, I had a sudden recollection of why I try my best and don't chicken out of things. So I'm in the air, after coming out of a roundoff with a sizeable bouce, going for a back tuck, when I stop, lock up and freak out. Going head first straight to the floor, I accept that I really shouldn't give up on things midway through, and that they can have painful consequences. So then, inevitably, I land, right on my head, probably the most painful thing in recent memory, and my back is hurting now. But I get up, carry on with the class, successfully land another round off back tuck, and everything goes well.

Today, another reaction, another happy face. I left the lab early to relax, but things had gone well. I've been invited to a barbeque, which should be awesome.
This weekend I'm going looking for an ice skating rink, then hopefully convincing my friends that ice skating is fun and that they want to do it.

    Peace
  14. So today, I achieved 2 major things I set out to do.
I reached 95 fletching, after one week of attempting this silly goal, all seems to be going well. I'm still motivated, I'm figuring out ways to optimise each part. I've even played the last 2 hours listening to Iron Maiden, and been blistering through the arrows. I hope to have the first 90k finished tonight, and then the sky is the limit... or, well, the xp just over 99 is, I have no desire to go any further. 3 levels gained so far, hopefully about 10 more to go, 4 fletching and 6 smithing. I've already given up on the woodcutting idea, because I realised how tedious it is.

I also took my synthesis one step further today in the lab, and isolated something that has never been made before. It's incredibly satisfying, and it yielded 100% for the step, which made me incredibly happy. The reaction proceeded exactly as planned, with nothing unforseen coming up. Hopefully the next 4 steps go just as well.

Tomorrow I will be doing very little, both in the lab and on scape, as I'll be leaving the lab early and getting home late, for tomorrow is gymnastics evening. I'm aiming to learn to either front tuck 180 off a springboard, or round off to 180 front tuck on the floor, so tomorrow will be all about the 180 fronts. Failing that I'd like to get front pikes on the floor, I nearly had them last week, but my landing was too sketchy for me to be pleased with them.

Also, I found out one of my favourite bands decided to call it a day earlier in the year, that made me a little sad as I really enjoyed their music, and I don't know how many people actually own their album. They only released one album, and in my opinion it was good, although I'm sure many people wouldn't enjoy the singers voice, and would find the music a little boring, but I'm glad I found them.

Hope anyone who is reading this is doing well.
    Peace.
  15. Griiiiiiiind!

So I've made my first 90k arrow heads, and got 81 smithing in the process, which was easy enough. I've been working all day on cutting arrow shafts, and made over 90k. I'd completely forgotten all the changed they made so it wasn't just clicking, hence the title of this post. This is gonna take forever. I'm currently attaching feathers, all 90k of them, then eventually i'll get to adding the first set of arrow heads. I'm still motivated. We'll see how that changes over time. I think the first 90k will be the most difficult, then the next 360k should feel alright. I'll see how it goes, I added a fletching progress bar to my sig, I started at low level 94, and i think i'm still around low, but i'll be close to 95 easily by the end of the week.

I have a 3 day weekend due to it being national day tomorrow, which is good, a nice day to relax, and I might go and see the parade, but I'm unsure as to my plans at the moment.

I got up this morning and watched UFC 117 live, and it was awesome, really exciting with lots of good fights. If anyone follows MMA let me know, I wanna discuss the happenings of the MMA world, and my views and see what other people think.

I ran today, a figure of 8 around the campus, which was interesting, but half the campus is blocked off by this stupid fence thats been put up for hosting the youth olympic village. I'mma try and get myself to see the Gymnastics programs if they're on at good times for me as I'd really like to see some awesome gymnastics.

My music library is running thin as I did not transfer and rip enough music to this computer before i left, and now i'm really missing some albums that I'd forgotten about at the time.

I have a stack of papers to read, but right now don't have the motivation to read them, although its vital that I read one of them before tuesday.

    Peace.
  16. First Blog. A big Challenge.

    Hello everyone.

My name is Topham. I've been on this forum for ages, and I know I'm not nearly as active as I should be for the time I've spent on these forums, I hope to make up for it by writing these blogs.

Now i'm an avid blog writer, but I have no outlet for my runescape side, and here I will be mixing both my real life and runescape goings on, elsewhere i'll be maintaining my music and entertainment type blog, and that is not for here.

    Some Background on me:
So, my account on RS is Punk Man666. I've had the account for as long as I can remember, but I'm not the most consistent person, hence me starting this blog, so I can stick to my plans, as well as inform anyone who cares about whats going on.
I'm a very active person, and I really enjoy life. I somehow end up with lots of spare time, which a fair share of it I spend playing runescape. I moved recently for my work placement to singapore, with 4 other people, all of whom have no real enthusiasm for computer games. My current friend list in scape is entirely composed of people i know in real life, and that when I'm at home I see very frequently, however, feel free to speak to me, as my chat should always be on public.
My Current total is 2085, with 99 attack as my only 99.

My current aims are 99 fletching from 94, by way of 79-85/86/87 smithing, making arrows, also hopefully getting 91 woodcutting from 90.
Today I bought 6k addy bars, and have already made about 750 of them into a lot of arrow heads.

My immediate goal is to get 81 smithing, followed by getting all the wood for my journey to 99 fletching by cutting and fletching about 33k normal trees. I will more than likely then buy feathers, rather than kill thousands of chickens for feathers. My overall goal in this task is to successfully not lose more than 3mil, and gain more than 10 total levels.

Currently my real world goals are simple; I want to become more confident in my ability to back tuck, so that I can do one as and when I please, to be able to run 10k in 55 mins, learn to skateboard (i've been skating for just less than 3 weeks as of this post), and to write a section of my project report each week, with at least 4 experimental reactions being carried out, and a paper to be authored by december showing my findings.

I hope you read my blog again. I'll update when I level, and discuss my progess in the real world too.
    Peace
  17. I feel cheap...

So recently theres been a lack of playing runescape on my part, with the Nechraels task taking forever to complete. However, I feel cheap because with this lack of playing I still had membership and managaed to get to 86 herblore with the bonus xp. I really want to get back into playing, but I'm currently trying to 1000g Dark Souls, which is quite difficult really. I've also just got a PS3, so I'm spending a lot of time playing that too. I now have a lot more free time as I've finished my fitness instructor work and
So work has been weird recently, and people have been constantly complaining, about seemingly trivial stuff, which gets on my nerves profusely. Product development is going well, and I've had some pretty awesome ideas, which I'm excited about implementing.
Outside of work, I'm not sure when I last posted, so since then I think, I've got my yellow stripe in Tae Kwon Do, and began gymnastics as well. I've been working hard at gymnastics, and am working on front tuck full twist. I've been getting the front tuck half twist and thought I'd try the next progression. I think soon I'm going to try front pike to half twist as well. I've also been working on high bar as well, mainly as a way to increase my body control, and overall strength. I can still back tuck on the floor, which made me very happy, as well as being able to round off back tuck. I have also tried side tuck to 3/4 twist just as something to try, but I'm not able to land it, so it still needs some work.
This weekend I'll be training hard hopefully, and I plan to have a fast run through of my triathlon training, hopefully going 1.5 times the distance on each discipline and completing in about one hour 5 mins (it's not a very long one)
I really wish I had more motivation to play runescape, but I'm sure it'll pick up soon, if not, I'm not sure I'll be too bothered. It kinda irks me that I'm at 98 strength tho.
    Peace -x-
  18. Hello everyone. Yesterday I went to London for my fitness instructors theory test, but I took it as an opportunity to have a day out in london and do some nice things.
I didn't really make it complicated. I went to my favourite place for food in London, which is right by the London Dungeon, and then got the train to south Kensington to visit the Science Museum, where I nerded it up for an hour. I can't say I had a wonderful time at the science museum, but it certainly wasn't boring. I then took a long walk through Hyde park, and just relaxed as I knew I'd be stressed worse if I didn't. From Hyde park I went to the top corner of the park, which is by the Marble arch Station, then walked all the way along Oxford Street, stopping at occasional shops along the way. I was kind of surprised about how busy it really was, but altogether it seemed alright. After walking past Bond Street Station, then Oxford Circus station I made it to the part of the road I was looking for, by Tottenham Court Road station. Once there within a 2 minute walk was Denmark street, which is a street with a lot of music shops in it, and I went looking at guitars. This was disrupted when at the end of the street a demonstration was being held by Unite, and there were a lot cars and busses held up and a lot of unhappy faces. I then went to the gym where I was taking my tests and had a look around. The gym was huge, I walked in expecting it to be open and there to be a lot of equipment, but I was overwhelmed with the size. I mean, I walked in at the ground floor, there were 4 floors visible beneath me, and on just the first one down there was a swimming pool, and 2 floors beneath it there was an open space for training. I also had a look round and there were so many studios for different things, dance studios, pilates studios, normal gym floor, badminton courts, open areas for circuits sessions. I was spellbound. Then I had my 2 exams, and both were relatively easy and took me about 35 minutes each, and so I left earlier and wandered off back out into london, looking for food. I decided that as I've been good recently with my diet a Pizza Hut wouldn't go a miss so went for it, had a small pizza and salad. Next door to Pizza Hut was an american sweet shop where I got me some Smores Pop Tarts and a peanut butter Twix. I love Pop Tarts but the Twix was wholly underwhelming. I then got on the train and headed home for some well deserved rest.
There were some things during the day that I noticed, and that irked me slightly. As I was on my own, I had nothing to really do while walking down long streets than people watch.
Firstly is the amount of people and their attitudes when using their phones for everything. I like technology, and I like how usable it is when your out and about, but I don't think I've ever had my phone in my hand for more than a minute while walking along. People seem over reliant on the technology, and also, if I'm walking around with someone thats talking to me I get very frustrated if they're constantly using their phone. 'Really? Your spending time not paying attention to me? I might as well have come on my own!' Thats my opinion, and it might not be fair but really, I see my friends to chat and do things, not avoid talking to one another. It was watching two people walking, one of which was talking away and the other concentrating on their phone, being dismissive about what the other was saying, exemplifying my point. Another part of this is if people are at a party and they're on their phone, and using it too much, kick them out, I'll have no one of my friends sitting on their phone, nor will I use mine at a party of mine. If the party is boring, or they're not participating, they won't be missed if they aren't here.
Secondly was the lack of formality in places. Like when I arrived at pizza hut, instead of being greeted 'Good evening' I was greeted 'Hello mate, how are you doing?' While I know its only Pizza Hut and I know its not important but it kinda portrays the whole atmosphere I'm feeling about a lot of things, things seem to be getting more modern and with it seem to be lacking in formality. I was, however, treated to some excellent customer service, the only kind I've experienced in recent memory, and the one thats stuck in my head since I had Pizza Hut in the USA about 12 years ago.
The rest of my week so far has been fine and work is going well. Now that I've got all my studying out of the way I'll have a bit more time to relax and won't feel compelled to spend as much time in the gym, but I'll still be going to keep up my fitness. I'm aiming to keep my rest heart rate at the level its at now, I don't think it will get much lower if I'm honest. I haven't had any time to play runescape at all. Not a single minute played this week. That should change tonight as I'm on an embargo of my Xbox until my addiction to dark souls fades, and I've only got an hour of stuff to do tonight as well as listen to the latest roosterteeth podcast, so playing Rs then will probably suit me fine.
So I realise the middle section is a massive rant on my opinions about current social activities, but the rest of the things are fine. And I feel everything is good for me.
    Peace -x-
  19. Hello,
So I've had a crazy week at work, studying outside and mentally preparing myself for my Tae Kwon Do grading.
At work things have been weird, I got very angry on thursday when my boss who notoriously spends too much time getting distracted and is continually complaining about not having enough time to do her work, started looking for something I knew someone else was looking for and was going to sort out. I even mentioned this and made it clear that thats what was happening, and still she wasted 20 minutes afterwards. The rest of the things that I've been doing have been relatively low importance, but one product that I've developed I tested last weekend seems to be working incredibly well.
My studying is hopefully about to pay off this week as I've got my exam and I'll finally get to have a lot of guilt free free time. Time this weekend that was spent playing Dark Souls. I got to the end of the game with one character, but still need to beat the final boss, I'm really just going through the end of the game stuff, like collecting embers and making sure that I can advance well on NG+.
My TaeKwonDo grading went well, I passed and got my next belt, which is great, but I got nervous when it was actually time to be tested. It went well so now I know where I'm going with it.
So, this weekend, I've been writing a lot of music and looking at chord voicing. This Haunted Shores song really pushed me to look into complex chords. Yes I know periphery recorded this song as scarlet, but this as far as I'm aware is the original.

    http://youtu.be/SSUjs1fqm0s

At home things seem a little hostile so I'm still stepping gingerly around, hoping that everything gets resolved soon. So I've been nice and helping out, with the garden mostly cutting down trees and cutting the grass.
    Peace -x-
  20. I find myself this week having spent very little time playing runescape at all. I think I might have killed 10 Nechryaels, and then done one clue scroll. easy (hard) clue scroll, got about 100k reward, was pretty good for the amount of effort I put in really.
So I've been so hopelessly addicted to playing dark souls this week. I've absolutely beasted the game this weekend and built an insane character. I started from scratch, and made a sorcerer, and put most of my levels into intellegence. I managed to get the lordvessel and defeat the 4 kings, and meet Darkstalker Kaathe, I've been really interested into the Lore around the whole story and game world. I've put a lot of hours into this this weekend and its been hilariously addictive.
Also this weekend I restrung my guitar for the first time, which was interesting. And I also tested my triathlon time, with the 2.5km run, 10km cycle and 400m swim, in that order. A weird order I know, but I manage 41 minutes. Hopefully I can train hard and get the time under 40 minutes, which is likely. Next weekend is my first TaeKwonDo grading and I'm excited about that. This week I've got to try and study more as a week on wednesday I have a theory test. I've gotta study loads, I've still got a few sections still to go.
So I've been trying to get some recording done, but I keep getting distracted with other things (like dark souls)
And again, I've been hectic and my mind is everywhere, I think again this makes for horrible reading.
There should be a more coherent blog coming along any time, but where it is I have no idea.
    Peace -x-
  21. Easy tasks for me this weekend. Next one will require a bit more concentration. So slayer is going well, this weekend was pretty good for me, steel dragons was a bit tight at the end, but managed to get it done. I still need to get a better set up, I miscalculated slightly. Oh well, the abyssal demons was pretty good, and it was a decent amount. The exp for these tasks was decent and I'm getting closer and closer to 98 strength. Neither task afforded me any significant drops, I've got a clue scroll to do. Yay. Next up is abberant spectres. This should be an interesting task, I haven't done them for a long time.
Luckily this weekend has been pretty great. I've had time to do everything that I wanted to, so I'm finally on top of everything I'm trying to do. I've been working hard on my guitar work, and I now understand how to use garageband better aswell. Yay!!
So I've got another day off tomorrow so hopefully I'll be spending more time in the gym, smashing things and getting a beasting. Today I ran my best 5km, and cycled a good 10km as well. Indoor reverse triathlon training is going well.
I've not got much to say. Tomorrow is a day off.
Here is a video of Alan Rickman making tea, in slow motion.

  22. Whats happened to this week?
So I've had no real time to play, its taking me forever to do my 240ish bloodveld task, but due to the free time I have available. The problem is, this week I've been completely in charge of me, and I've been planning all my time meticulously, and not had time for scaping. I've been ensuring that I've got to work on time or slightly early, and then once finishing knowing exactly whats coming next, whether it be going to the gym, or home to practice guitar. It's been a strange week, but theres been myriad things to do with my parents being away.
My runescape goals are still the same, work towards 99 strength, and then complete other goals.
Work this week has been sucky. I don't think theres another word for it. Its not been too bad, but its by no means been good. We have had a few complaints about some product that went out, and then other things have got caught up. One person who was on holiday last week and who has had a shorter week this week has been complaining more that is imaginable. They've been complaining about everything, and announcing everything but everyones been ignoring them so they've been getting louder, when its clear no one gives a crap because they're not improving in their job and is reliant on everyone else to do their work for them. Its also painfully obvious to me why they've been married and divorced twice now. I'm waiting for this week to be over so that the long weekend coming up can be appreciated.
This weekend I'm going into the apple store so I can learn effectively use my macbook and garageband. I'm looking forward to it because I'm sure theres loads of cool little things I didn't know about.
I've also decided that on top of everything I'm doing at the moment that I'm going to train for an Indoor Sprint Reverse Triathlon. I'm just going to incorporate it into my workout plans and hopefully get it done in a decent time. I've booked my theory assessment for my fitness instructors qualification which is the 19th September. I've also booked my first Tae Kwon Do grading on the 15th September, and a week on saturday there is an all day long seminar so I can practise everything for the grading.
When will I have time to play runescape???
This blog has been written while listening to Diablo Swing Orchestra, which, if you like metal, is some of the best avant-garde metal. Its so strange, but their name gives a clue to how they're influenced.
    Peace -x-
  23. Iron Dragons are pretty cool.

I've had various tasks for slayer this week, but nothing compares in ease to the Iron Dragons task. I set up earlier, and just went through the task like it was nothing. I had about 94 and I felt like it didn't take much time at all. I'm getting closer towards 99 strength. I'm probably gonna keep going with slayer for a while. I might invest in 85 prayer, and then work on woodcutting... possibly.
So this week has been weird. I've been working hard, but theres been loads to do, but very little real development work, so I've been a bit frustrated at work. I also spoke to someone who is looking at assisting the company re-organise so that we can be more efficient. I told her a lot of my opinions, and how I see the company looking at it from being the freshest face.
Outside of work, I bought a new guitar. Its so awesome. I'm so happy with it. However I haven't done any recording, which I need to try out.
I've been working hard at the gym, and its really been paying off. I was down to 65kg last week, this weekend has barely helped but I needed time to recover, and if I'm not training I'm way more likely to eat crap food. This week I've got a full week plan, and a weekend plan, as its a 3 day weekend coming up. Well excited about that.
I've had a lack of creativity recently and would like to kick that habit and come up with something amazing, so I'm going to try and spend 30 mins a day with a pen/pencil and paper, and a guitar with no distractions or my computer and try to rediscover what ever creativity I have.
Right, my brain is fried due to me not doing anything stimulating, and the shocking heat, so I'm gonna leave it here.
    Peace.
  24. Hi Everyone.
So, I've been doing an aquanite task and I did used to like doing them, and enjoyed the task, but this task just felt so long. I don't think that it helped that I've had a complete weekend off playing, and haven't really gotten into playing today. But I used to be able to beast through them and get it done in 2 or 3 trips, but now I'm not able to get my set up right, and end up making 6 or 7 trips to complete the task. I'm sure before I was using a similar set up, but I just can't get to grips with it. Anyway, I finally finished the task then got a dust devils task and started getting going on that, then I watched Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Me and my sister are currently working through watching them all, just for the sake of it, as neither of us particularly enjoys watching television, as there isn't much original stuff on there.
Anyway, I'm planning to do the latest quest later this week. It looks good, and everyone seems to be positive about it.
I should have a guitar lesson tomorrow, which will be good, but I've not been able to really practise. I spent a little time today playing, I even went out to the guitar shop to try out some different guitars and now I know what I'm going to be getting soon, if I can ever sell the one I put up on ebay.
So the weekend we just went through, I was at Bloodstock Open Air, and it was awesome, although it has made me realise a few things.
Firstly, some bands are exceptional live. Some bands are not, and some bands might be incredible on record, but due to the nature of their music should never play festivals. While I've seen some of the metal hammer reviews about certain bands, I disagree with them about some very fundamental sets that they said were great. Which brings me on to my second point. Black Metal... Atmospheric and pure black, never really comes across from a festival stage, and the intense atmosphere that should be associated with it cannot be conveyed under these circumstances. Symphonic (and Blackened Death in Behemoths case) work well because of what they are, and the sound that the band portrays lends itself to grandiose sounds.
Another point is: Alice Cooper. This was the highlight for me and maybe one of my favourite things I've ever seen. I love the stage show that comes along with his music, and I just adore everything that the he does.
And finally, I don't understand the amount of bands using blast beats in their music nowadays. I understand that you might have a technically proficient drummer, but that doesn't necessitate using blast beats as and when you please.
The Headliners: Behemoth, Machine Head, Alice Cooper
Behemoth rocked, and there was one moment that resounded with a significant amount of poignancy, when Nergal shouted out the crowd 'It feels good to be alive'. This was more than inevitable, but it something that will stick with me for the longest time.
Machine Head were asked to play 5 tracks from Burn My Eyes on the day that was the 20th anniversary of their first gig. The set was outstanding, and in my opinion the best track they played, which also happens to be my favourite Machine Head track, was 'Darkness Within'. I was very close to the front of the crowd, and everyone was into it, and the crowd was so loud during the whole set, it felt great to be a part of it.
Alice Cooper. I love Alice Cooper. Theres no denying it. This set really was a collection of his greatest hits, and the stage show was so perfect. Me and the people I was with had a mini bet on how he was going to be killed during the set, I called guillotine, and was luckily right, which completely made my day.
The whole festival weekend was a lot of fun, but there was some serious disappointment in some areas, but thats what I was expecting.
I'm tired, and I've got work tomorrow. I've got a lot of stuff to type up, a review of the concert to do, guitar practice to do, tae kwon do to train, I don't know if I'll fit in much scaping this week, but if I do, i'll be putting maximum effort in.
    Peace -x-
(Just re-read this, its incoherent and crap but eh)
  25. So I'm currently working on my 241 Fire Giants task, and have been since the beginning of the week, but I've not had enough time to play much, due to being busy with fun stuff, which I'll get to later, and epically busy at work. And also, the olympics are on, and I'm a massive fanboy of any team GB achievement. Pretty proud to be British right now.
In my fire giants task, I feel I started the task wrong, and went with a full invent of food instead of taking Guthans, which was probably the worst decision I've made in game recently. After filling my inventory after about 120 I banked and switched my approach. I'm currently 700k...ish off 98 Strength, and I think I've just crossed to be into the last 2mil xp to 99. I'm getting close, but its still a lot of work to do. Hopefully I'll have some more nice fast tasks that aren't difficult, however I'm fully expecting some weird ones, like metal dragons, which I prefer to range. I've considered investing in Dragon Bones to burn on my altar so that I can level prayer quite rapidly, but I'm not too sure it'd be a wise investment right now. Maybe I'll sink money into herblore for now, as I originally intended.
So, at work I've been having a difficult time as I've been doing someone elses job all week as they're away on holiday and I'm unfamiliar with what they're doing, pushing me out of my comfort zone. Luckily today all my work came together and I finally started seeing the results that I've been looking for. Unfortunately yesterday and earlier in the week I was getting frustrated and was feeling pretty crappy about work and my attitude in work was suffering. I don't feel like I was working effectively, and its clear that there are some massive gaps in my knowledge of how things work, and how what I'm doing directly relates to what we are trying to test. It's been a stressful week, but as of today I've got the most important parts done and am finally happy with my understanding of the work I'm carrying out. (sorry about the vagueness)
So the olympics is going quite well for Team GB, and this makes me happy, as well as a great sense of national pride surrounding all the coverage. Its pretty cool to see sports not normally seen, and as I've somehow taken part in a lot of the disciplines I can relate to how hard these athletes are working and how good they are. Now I don't claim to be good or have much experience in any specific sport, but having any fundamental knowledge helps me really appreciate the sports.
Keeping on the topic of sports, I've just restarted doing gymnastics, with a session that I think was about as good as I've ever been able to do. I managed to front pike on the floor, after just going for it. I hadn't done one for about a year and a half or more, and I managed to land on my feet comfortably, and it was an awesome feeling to be able to pick up right where I'd left off before. Hopefully I'm going to start trying to front tuck to 1/2 twist next and then vault to 1 and a 1/2 back tuck.
Another sport I've been doing is Tae Kwon Do, which I've recently kinda restarted but its different style wise and its interesting. My interest in combat sports is beginning to help me, and I've been speaking to the instructor about competing and he seems keen to help me to get into some competitions as soon as I can, which will be once I've done my first 2 or 3 gradings.
So, then my other nights, monday, ran my personal best 2km, in 9 mins 21 seconds, which made me immensely happy, after a crap day at work, and then on last night went to a box fit class which was difficult, and I'm still unsure of, but anything to help bring my weight down and increase my striking proficiency must be a good step forward.
On tuesday night I had a guitar lesson (that was also the night I went to gymnastics), and I'm trying to learn some simpler songs so that I can get some decent recordings done to really find confidence in recording and writing my own tracks. I've also been working on increasing my finger speed and the coordination between my fingers and picking, as at the moment they're all over the place and not coordinated at all.
So, tomorrow I'm going out to dinner with friends, and over the weekend I plan to do some studying, and watching the olympics. I don't really have much planned, so that should lead to some significant progress towards 98 strength. Gonna write a decent gym plan for the next few sessions I'll be doing, as I'm away next week. More on that on sunday.
    Peace -x-
