  2. Man I just can't get over how much people actually whinge about the community! Fact: The community on most MMPORPGs suck to an immeasuarble degree. Fact: Runescape has the best community filters I have personally experienced as yet. So if the people are starting to get to you, use the ignore list! Use your friends list! Use the Private Chat off Function! If you want an assured enjoyable multiplayer experience with no hassels, have some rl friends around for some console action. Otherwise you are just going to have to realise that the community on runescape is going to ruin your gaming experience sometimes, be prepared for it, and do your best to enjoy the game as much as you can despite the lamers. Truly sorry for the rant guys, but it just seems so reasonable that the community is never going to improve if people don't start taking a proactive approach rather than just whinging when others don't behave in a way that is not perceived as detrimental to their runescape experience. And on that matter of ranting, shouldn't this thread be in the rants forum? Seeing all these community rants in the general and general p2p forums is really starting to bum me out.
  3. misc - some extra stuff that i banked that are useable in f2p gold pieces (duh!! lol) limpwurt roots and red spider eggs vials (empty and water filled) ammies of accuracy rune daggers strength potions brass keys woad leaves (no idea why) feathers ropes spades knives chocloate bars and dust eyes of newt monk robes tops and bottoms dwarfen stouts buckets pots silk Just in case you were wondering why, you need woad leaves to make blue dye (I think), and you need blue dye to complete a f2p quest (goblin diplomacy?) You can also get more woad leaves in f2p from a gardener in the falador gardens.
  4. Thanks for following up the discussion, blackrazor. I do agree that fansites do make use of copyrighted intellectual property to increase their traffic and hence their income, but not to the point that it infringes on the copyright itself. A quest guide offers solutions to a quest within the rules, mechanics and layout of runescape, but not by directly altering the rules and mechanics. That is why things like hacks, cracks, trainers etc can lead you to being banned, but using guides cannot; these things do alter Jagex's copyrighted runescape product. Guides do not. As for my opinions on Jagex restricting the way we finish quests, I do agree that they can directly influence the way a quest is complete, within their runescape product. But unless they seek legal action to have all websites remove quest related guides (however futile such action may be), they have no way to stop members using guides to complete members quests. I understand that I may not have been specific enough with my restaurant example; sure they can enforce your conduct and dress (just as Jagex can forcibly censor cursing and swearing), but if you ordered a chinese dish I'm sure they would not tell you to eat with chopsticks and not a fork or spoon if you wanted to. Maybe if it was at a boutique establishment that charged much higher rates you could expect certain restrictions, but at $5-20 per month depending on your location and subscription method, I don't see runescape membership falling into that category. Personally, I don't see Jagex wanting to conduct runescape in such a manner either. But then again, who knows these days??
  5. Well my stance on the argument is that Jagex is in the wrong. I feel Jagex is in the wrong for the following reasons I have outlined below, reasons that have been touched on in the tip.it times and which I am sure most of you have contemplated further:: 1. Jagex has no right to ask websites not endorsed by them to refrain from posting anything, including quest guides. Sure, if the fansite was an official fansite, it would be a little more reasonable, but this is not the case. 2. The quest in question is for members, ie. People who have paid Jagex in return for their services. Jagex have the right to seek compensation for their services (membership fees), but they do not have the right to tell customers how to use that service. For example, if you have a meal at a restaurant, the restaurant has the right to charge you for the meal, but not the right to tell you how to eat it. Likewise, Jagex have charged members for the availability and use of members quests, but they should not be able to tell members how to complete them. If somebody wants to use a guide to complete a quest, the only parties that can prevent them from or charge them for doing so are the authors of the guides and/or the sites that host them. There is simply no reasonable way that Jagex can make using guides against the terms and conditions of memberships, because they will have a heck of a time getting sites not to post them, and subsequently members to stop reading them. With that might I offer my comendations on a great article this week, I'm sure we'll see more posts here than usual this time...
