Myweponsg00d, that was an excellent post! Combat and skilling has always been intertwined, somewhat. Thing is, it's almost always been that combat makes skilling easier. For example, a level 3 skiller can't get to Ape Atoll agility, can't (realistically) use ZMI or the Abyss, can't fish monks or Barbarian fishing, etc. It's good to see it go the other way now. I've been asking for this for a while. I like the WoW model for "bind on pickup" high-level skill items that affect combat, and this is a good step towards that.
Now, Jagex, the problem is the economy of scale. If you need top-end herblore to be competitive, then it's going to be very expensive. Here's an idea - bump up herb yield in crops (and perhaps drop picking xp accordingly)! That'll lower prices somewhat - how much depends on how much the yield is bumped.
Or, even better, dot disease prevention/yield increasing (bind on pickup) potions throughout the herblore skill tree. That'll tie farming and herb together even more tightly.
Or, how about paying farmers cash to watch herb plants?
The possibilities are endless.

That's some nice skilling. 84 Construction is really impressive.
Keep it up and good luck.
Thanks!
Today I went ahead and bought enough Adamant Bars (~8k) to go from 88 to 90, with SC hammers. I have to mine ~16k more gold ore to get from 85-88 smithing - but that'll take a while (85,86,87 mining). Now I'm basically broke, though. Spent 70 something on masks, 20 something on bars - that leaves me with like 10 something.
Now I really won't be buying anything for a while. I have planks for 92 Cons (with hammers), bars for 90 smithing (with hammers), and essence for 85 RC. Really the only purchasing I'll do will be herb seeds, but those are almost pure profit.
That should do me for 2020 total, which is where I'll be setting aside skills for a while and working combat. Of course, there will be some cost in that, but by then I'll be well over 100m cash again. On the other hand, I do already have a good store of pots, cooked food, and ammo.

Bought 2 Green h'ween @ 22.85m each and 1 Blue h'ween @ 27.66m, for investment. I won't be purchasing skills for a long time, anyways.
The way I read the market, they'll both drop for a day or two more, then start climbing again. I'll be selling the greens @ 25 and the blue @ 30, I think.

Supposedly it is a desert phoenix, which spawns at Uzer? I do like the idea of untradeable tertiaries though!

I did act now, and I can't get any ingredient on the GE. The funny thing is I was thinking about getting 85 or 90 herblore a few days ago, and had already bought about 2k cadantines. Should have bought 20k goddamnit.
And herein lies the problem with any update that has anything at all to do with tradeable items. The merchants instantly buy everything out for days/weeks, and so it's impossible to take advantage of fully.

Glad I finished 99 herb a few months ago! Would be crazy expensive now. Also glad I have thousands of "lower level" potions lying around.

Super Metriod, LoZ: Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, and Mega Man X helped define the upper end of my childhood. :-)

I believe the advertised savings is 5-10%. Yews are what, 40k/hr? So 90 to 99 would be 8m xp? That's 200 hours, so you should cut 10-20 hours off that by getting a dragon hatchet. Your cost will be minimal since you'll probably resell it when you're done!
In other words, buy it if you have the cash.

I'm 88 combat, and I actually like Chaeldar some of the time. She does tend to give Bronzes a lot, though, and that's annoying. If you don't mind Bronzes, you'll be fine.

I'm pretty sure that monks are more money per hour - however, sharks are more money per xp.
I've done monks since 80, I think. Definitely the better choice.

5k exp in 2 hours (2.5k/h)!!!! Thats precicely why people dont like farming. At that rate it would take me 3 years and 143 days doing 4 hours a day of only farming and nothing else.
Yes, that would be true, although that experience rate is specifically from Herbs, and I have yet to hear of the player to reach 99 Farming through running Herbs alone. =p
I actually went from 80 to 99 on thousands of dwarf weed seeds. Sure, it's not "herbs alone", but it's 85% of the way.

Only 10k monks to go!
I'm actually starting to buy cooked when I sell my raws - preparing for combat training!

Pouch as in the "blank" versions? 10k. I bought 150k over a few days, 10k every 4 hour "tick".

Dwarf Traders SUCK for picking, even at 99. I had <50% success even with gloves of silence. Plus they only rarely give anything other than bronze bars.

Also, we need word from Jagex if the Inferno Adze is equivalent.
What can you pick from the new thieving targets?
-
I guarantee you this is a result of the new pathing algorithm they implemented. It's not a bug, per se, it's just an unintended consequence... or perhaps intended.

4. Do Stealing Creation needles match the time wasted getting them?
Depends. If time's no concern, then we can do the math.
Assuming 4 tools per hour:
Each tool is good for 44k xp, 22k of that is free (roughly).
So an hour of SC gives 88k free XP. That's 1353 hides worth, or (tanned) 2700k/hr or (untanned) 2300k/hr. But keep in mind that we can SELL 1353 hides worth of bodies for 2074k. That means a true savings of 626k/hr tanned or only 226k an hour untanned. If you can make more that in an hour, then they're worth it.
If time IS a concern (as it is for me), I say no. I don't have the time to spend playing SC, for crafting. I do however have the cash to burn.

Yeah, go greens. However, you will not be able to get there for 15m, I don't think. Not even tanning your own and using SC needles.
