Try PMing Leesters to get it added to his list of important guides. you only do the puzzle once - one small one and one large one ....after that all of the runes are unlocked

Who said you had to finish that subquest to gain acces to the arena? You get acces to the arena in the middle of the subquest, which is before the time when you have to use your cooking. you cant start the sub quest without 70 cooking.
