I'm wanting to do Monkey Madness and I've been told that there is a Monkey you have to fight sometime before the Demon... I've been told that there is and isn't by about 500 different people, does anyone actually know?! If there is, about where in the quest is it and should I use melee?

You have to have started that Tai Bwo something Trio quest or whatever, you just have to start it though according to the guide so you don't have to do the whole thing.
