    I accidentaly downgraded McAfee when I upgraded AOL, should I re-install McAfee from the CD before I disable the AOL version?
  2. wioneo replied to wioneo's topic in Tech and Computers
    ....Which one should I keep, or should I get a new one?

    You may be right. I was just thinking of that, but I wouldn't know. So, does having multiple firewalls active at the same time do any harm? I have AOL privacy wall, McAfee...firewall, and Microsoft Security center or whatever...
  4. Interesting. Also, doesn't the RS client run with IE 6? It is required for the client to work, and I have the same problem with it. Well, I am about to download Fire Fox and see if I hate it or not...
  5. It looks like IE got some votes, but there are no comments.
  6. I have repeatedly heard that Firefox has more extensions. What exactly does that mean.
  7. I have been having some problems with Internet Explorer, and some people have been suggesting a switch to Firefox. I really dislike this idea, but I am running out of options. The addition of sound in RS2 was something that I really liked, and I don't want to give that up. However, not being able to kill monsters which actually fight back is also unacceptable. So, I decided to ask the Tip.It community; Which is better, IE or Firefox?

    The sadness is growing...
  9. Not meaning to be rude, but you two need to chill out. Anger leads to name calling. Name calling leads to punishment. The reason that I say I have a CWS infection is that whenever I run Steganos Aspy 7, I have to delete CWS, but it won't delete and keeps reappearing. Maybe I don't and Steganos is just garbage, but I have gotten cws in lists on various other anti-virus/spyware(mal-ware) repeatitively. I have no training with computers at all. Everything that I know is from my own experiments and the all powerful internet. Now, as I was saying, chill out :)
  10. I know that I have a Coll Websearch infection :( and my arm feels better :) Anyway, I have been run cws shredder and it isn't getting anything. I can't update it either. I set my homepage to google, and I put my search page on the default a while ago. I don't know how you get the search page though. I know that for a while I was getting a homepage that I couldn't change, and I couldn't leave. I have no idea what "kbdfn.dll" is. I don't know much about the workings of my computer, I'm thirteen! I usually just do a google search to find stuff...
  11. what does changing the pages do ;questionmark; also, how do you change the search page ;questionmark;

  15. My computer has been running slowly as of late and I was going through things looking for a problem. I found two entities of "svchost[Caution: ExecutableFile]" in my running processes list. I know that this a system file, but I also heard that it has been used as an alias for a virus/trojan/worm(forgot its name). One is in the networks group and the other is in the system group. However, I didn't want to go by that. Should I terminate one? If so, which one?

    I used to train on lessers, but when this glitch started happening I moved down to ice warriors/giants. I'm not that worried about dieing(sp) Anyway, now that I can move a bit after the glitch I just switch on protect from melee. BACK ON TOPIC So, does anyone have any other ideas? I am absolutely certain that other people play Runescape with IE(Jagex referred it) without this problem. So switching to Firefox really wouldn't be a solution, it would just be ignoring a problem, in a way that I don't like, I might add. Also I have Windows XP Service Pack 2, 512mb of RAM, multiple firewalls/blockers/scanners, and a high-speed bellsouth cable modem. It is 400-600kbps I think. I just thought that some of that might help. Good Night, I'll check this tomorrow.

    I have seven spyware/virus things McAfee Ad-Aware SE Microsoft A-Spyware BETA Steganos A-Spyware 7 AOL Spyware Protection I run scans every Saturday...so I don't think that I have any dangerous viruses, but I may be wrong. Steganos and Microsoft were free... Any other suggestions?

    You know, you saying that makes me think back to a time(about two years ago) when I e-mailed Microsoft about a problem with their help program. I have 472 things in my inbox. I'm going to go check if I got a letter back :)

    I downloaded the update and still got the same error :( Was Firefox the one that made the runescape sounds...not work, or was it Mozilla?
  20. wioneo replied to wioneo's topic in Tech and Computers
    Would that update work for IE? I know that firefox is a much better and safer browser, but I really don't want to switch.

    I haven't be able to play RS for three months :cry: Yes, I know it's sad. This is because of an error that I have been having. Whenever I am killing something for longer than a minute, I get this error . I tried ignoring it, but I can't move or log out after it appears. So, I have to reopen the browser and rush to log back into the world that I was on to see if I've died. So far I have been lucky, but I don't know how much longer that will last. I just mined and fished for a while, but if I can't kill stuff, I just don't see the point of playing. Can anyone help me? EDIT: For some reason, the entire Tip.it site is running very slowly. Is this just me?
