  1. Very nice article, as always =D> You forgot one more long awaited important feature: improving the chat system, more important than bank space reorg imo :| And whats wrong with path-finding algorithm ? I never had any problems except when lagging ... Most importantly however, the idea of players representatives group is very good, it should get more attention
  2. After playing RS for several month now, here are the things that bugged me the most, and some suggestioins to improve them. Feel free to reply. 1) Trading chat: we all know how hard it is to trade in a crowded place, especially if you want to negotiate offers. I think it would be much easier if we had a separate trade chat. When two people initiate a trade and both have the trading window open, everything they type from that moment and up to a point of closing the trade will be visible with some red highlighted text over the trade window. The text should be clearly displayed, so both sides can talk to each other without closing the trade window and talking in public or private (i use split private chat which is completely invisible under the trade window). All they say during the trade will only be visible to the two players, in order to reduce public traffic. 2) Direct chat: if you ever tried to talk with more than one person in private, you will find it a very hard thing to do. Not once your private messages go to the wrong person. If this happenes to you too, support the following suggestion. 8) Which is to use prefixes to direct your messages to specific people on your friends list. For example, in order to send message to 'MyFriend', you can simply type 'myfriend:hello'. Which will delivery the message 'hello' to your friend. Further on, in order to simplify things, the prefix can take only a partial name and will search the person on your friends list. For example, if you have two people on your list, 'AFriendWithVeryLongName' and 'AnotherFriendWithEvenLongerName', you can separately address each one of them by only using prefixes 'af:' and 'an:' . Of cource, an unsufficient partial name will not deliver the message to anyone, unless they implement the next idea :) 3) Group chat: i am not a member of any clan, but i still wonder, how do the clans coordinate their plans ? By using public chat ? Ability to send private messages to more than one person should ease things up. Then, with the previous suggestion, typing 'a:hello' will send your message to all your friends that begin with an 'a' (those that are online, of course). And using some special prefix, like '*:' will send your mesage to everyone. 4) Offline messaging: a thing seen in some other MMO games - ability to send offline messages to your friends. It will, imo, actually improve the security of the game, because people who want to exchange messages while offline will not need to exchange their real-life email addresses. In addition to that, an offline web interface to this system will enable runescape players to communicate when not in game, while still maintaining their real identities. 5) Offline trading: this is a very important issue. You work hard to gather money for your whip, and then work even harder to find a seller. And at the same time another person on another world is desperately trying to sell his extra whip :( I think there should be a limited background ability to trade rare valuable single items. For example, you could deposit one item to the bank and set the minimal price you want, or put a request for an item and set the maximum price you wish to pay. You would receive a sertificate from the bank, that you would be able to use had you ever desided to cancel your offer. A background routine will check all requests and deposits for matches, and will automatically perform the matching deals. The certificate will be magically updated :P and you will be able to use it to receive your item/money, and then put a new offer. So, what do you think ?
