This would be a good idea if the only people who were playing were lvl 90 people who don't level up everyday. But considering the amount of low-leveled people in the game, getting a notice for all of their level-ups is not good. You wouldn't be able to walk through lumbridge without clicking "RandomNewb123 has earned a level in Strength!" every three seconds. Frankly, I think the fireworks are enough. I support the idea of a new fireworks animation to make it more noticeable. Just don't make it intrusive.

Magician Xy.
I love how it rolls off my tongue. I named it liked that to be like a title. You know, the regular name is Xy, but he is a magician. Therefore, he is Magician Xy.
I find it amusing that even though my (in-game) name is Xy, everyone calls me Magician.

Well, that would explain why I've been having trouble buying and selling my rune sets...
Eh, oh well. Now that I know that, I can be more patient, rather than thinking Am I the only one on runescape who wants to someone to buy my rune set? This is taking forever!!!

About the botting:
Putting in the random events is really the only thing Jagex can do. You have to remember that RS is a browser based gamed, meaning the user has to download nothing. Therefore, Jagex cannot check if their program is being hacked, since no anti-hacking software is installed. WoW, since it's on a CD, automatically installs an anti-hacking program.
Having said that, I think the random events are a clever way to prevent bots, or at least they were. Now that bots are more advanced, they've lost that purpose. But think: would it really be RS without random events?
Oh, WeirdAl_fan: I LOVE your sig. It's so true!

I wonder if they are actually going to make the game fullscreen, or if they make it "fullscreen", as in making the online game applet area larger. Besides, if they wanted it literally fullscreen like WoW, don't they have to have client? If so, doesn't that get rid of the browser-based thing RS has got going?

Oh boy... Another F2P vs P2P thread... Call me when it gets locked.
Anyway, I'm really not upset that P2P gets summoning and F2P doesn't. Lke someone mentioned before, F2P got Bounty Hunter, Duel Arena, etc. a while ago. For F2P, that's a pretty big update. No, I'm angry because supposedly, a Jagex Mod told people that summoning would be F2P, too. Now that turned out to be a lie. I hate having my hopes raised like that, only to be crushed because of a lie.
Look. It's not going to change, you see. Freeplayers get a cookie while members get the whole cake. That's something everyone's going to have to live with, regardless.
BTW, where's my cookie? I never got a cookie.

Plus if there weren't idiots, it wouldn't be as fun since I wouldn't have anyone to embarrass/flame, even if it is immature. I guess I just like putting people's ego's in check sometimes (not saying this is the case here)
I can think of someone who needs an ego check... -.-

Snowglobe>Rubber chicken \ \
Whoa. No, I'm sorry, but you're totally wrong. I mean, I agree that throwing snowballs into people's faces is fun and all, but nothing satifies like thwacking noobs with elastic poultry. :XD:

I still play because first of all, the updates really didn't effect me, even though I do pk.
No, the real reason is because I think Jagex is the best MMORPG company that I've worked with. They are so helpful to their players, even the F2P. Heck, you can talk to some of the main workers in game! (you know, with the gold crown.) Also, they try really hard to give updates that the players will like. You want to know why they released this recent update that every is now complaining about? It's because before the update, the biggest complaint in the entire game was the amount of bots and RWTs. Therefore, Jagex tried to fix it - for their players. Unfortunately for Jagex, the players decided they disliked the solution more than the problem... But Jagex is already working on that, with the proposed updates that they posted on the main page.
I don't know, I just think Jagex is a really great company and people don't give them enough credit.

It's really a matter of opinion. I like the scimmy because it's faster. When I say faster, that means it attacks more times per minute.
I think a scimmy attacks once every two seconds and a 2h attacks every four seconds. However, a 2h does more damage. I just prefer speed over brawn.
:P

You know, that's a good question. I doubt it, though. I'm at school right now, so I can't test it, but maybe later when I get home I'll try. What is the jewelry piece you need? I think it's ruby ring, correct me if I'm wrong.
-
On the bright side, with all the people complaining, Jagex is sure to change the update a little. I think the Multi-combat bounty hunter is the biggest complaint, they'll probably change that first.
To me, I like this update. I'm F2P, so now I get duel arena and grand exchange. I don't normally go to the wildy anyway, so that doesn't really affect me. I guess I'm lucky.
-
Ok, please excuse the noobish question, but is Edgeville actually gone? I haven't been able to get on for a long while now, so I don't know... I went to check out the duel arena first :?
-
Well. about that last part about the F2P Duel Arena, yeah, you've got to expect that. F2P is filled with little ten-year-olds because of Miniclip, and they are generally not anywhere near the maturity level of others. Believe me, I know. I'm pure F2P, and I've got to deal with being called a noob every time I log on.
It's kind of sad, but nothing much can be done to change it.

To the post above... why? Merchanting is an integral part of of Runescape economy. Do you just not like merchants, or what? Just curious. :-s
-
I think whether merchanting is affected will be determined by what sort of auction house it will be. If it is really an auction house, when a person puts up an item, he chooses an amount of time, and then the item does not sell until that time is up. That way, people can bid the max they want to pay, while the seller gets the max profit. There may be a "reserve price" feature where the auction is ended early if a certain price is bid. If this is the case, I think merchanting will decline slightly, since the same items will always be up and players keep looking at them.
Naturally, if this happens, that also means there will be people who want to sell their items RIGHT NOW. That, in turn, means autotalkers will stay.
The other kind would be an "auction house" (notice the quotes). The player sets a time limit for the item to be shown in the GE, but as soon as someone decides to "bid", they get that item. Period. In other words, it would be like a general store where the seller gets more money than usual when they sell an item. If this happens, I think merchanting will go up slightly, since everyone wants to get rid of their items quickly.
Btw, I would rather have the second kind because there would be more items for sale than in the other one.

I was, ironically, not found anywhere on tip.it at all on Google. However, I am apparently a huge fan of Yu-Gi-Oh... lol?
I guess there's this one card called XY Dragon Cannon, and it's part of a deck or set called Magician's Force. Here's a pic of it:
Well, at least it's a cool looking card, eh? :P

Alright, everyone's gonna think I'm some mage pure because of my name, right?
Nope.
I started RS not knowing anything about MMO games, and definitely nothing about pures. If you would have asked me what a pure was back then, I would have said something like, "Uh, atoms of a single element? I dunno..." As it turns out, I have a very weak magic level (43). I'm actually a stronger melee fighter, though I hope to remedy that in the future.
I named myself after a character in the book I was trying to write. He was the main character, and he happened to be a spellcaster. (A psychic, to be specific.) I gave up writing the book, though... seems author isn't the career path for me!
However, ever since I dreamed up this character, he seems to be everywhere I go online. So, in essence, this made-up Magician Xy is very real and very me.

Magician Xy
Birth Date: October 10
I say anyone who has done this thread should also post in the Great Tip.It Pic of 2007 post. If you don't, then... um... you're a meany! :shame:
Good luck on filling out this whole thread with birthdays!

I like it, it's well drawn... I'm not a particularly big fan of anime, or manga, or whatever kind of style that is, but that's a nice picture nonetheless.

I got one...
I'm wearing no special stuff at all but i have the easter ring.
I morph into egg.
Noob: Omg i'm gonna get eggzzz 4 breakfast now.
(Its morning were i am)
Noob builds fire under me.
Me: Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! I'm dieing help me!
Noob: OMG the eggz r aliv3 *runs away*
He tried to eat me!
Hehe, I kind of do this all the time too, I take out my ring, go to a crowded, noob-filled are, and morph. Everyone assumes I'm an item, so they all come running on top of me. :P
-
Yeah, well, no one is actually saying how many there are, just guessing. There's nothing against the rules about guesses, right?
Anyway, My guess is that there are less than 500 F2P mods. I've been playing for a year, and everytime I see a mod, I add them to my friends list. At the moment, I have about 10 mods there. Not very many, IMO.

Not really a pun, but the wine seller in Draynor is named Fortunado. Fortunado is one of the main characters in Edgar Allen Poe's famous short story, "Cask of Amontillado", which is about revenge... and wine. :P
-
I always thought Count Draynor (the vampire in the basement) was the owner :-s, if you talk to the scientist upstairs he'll say that hes just a tenant and that the count in the basement owns it.
Well, that solves that mystery. If you ask me, you're just trying to create a thread that will gain in popularity like the "Investigating the Wise Old Man" thread and eventually be featured on the Hot Topic. My recommendation: if you want to get a really popular thread going, come up with your own idea for thread. Make it unique, not just a spinoff of an existing thread.
Why are people so negative about riots?

I love Jagex. I don't see why anyone could not love them. So they took away the better part of the wildy. But they didn't just take away the wildy; they gave something else in return. Bounty Hunter, the GE, and a month later, Summoning. So they're not the same. Big deal; they're still fun.
Also, you know why you people keep telling rioters to put a sock in it? It's because they know these changes helped the game overall. They are too busy enjoying themselves to go rioting.
