  1. Thank you for your submission :)

I would love to add the auras, but unfortunately we lack the specifics on how they work. We know that they slow down prayer drain rate and boost prayer potion restore rate by some rough percentage, but these percentages are unfortunately not accurate enough to base calculations on. I'm sorry :(

  2. Noticed it was missing. It leads to a higher max hit (and THE highest max hits for most 1 handed weapons) and i think many would be interested to see this added to the calc.

I know that you can just add +5/6 strength (b/goliath glove switch over DFS) in the custom value to find your answer, but this can't be done with weapon specials, and is overall just more effort for the user.

Edit: Also noticed goliath gloves are missing too. Add those too :D

Hey there, thank you for your submission :)

It looks like the void set-up is still assuming the set consists of four items only. It's probably be easiest to add two void configurations - one for body-legs-gloves and one for body-legs-deflector. I don't think the other possible configurations are used at all?

I'll add the goliath gloves too when I update the thing. Hopefully I can get its unarmed effects to work properly. Please check back in a day or so :)

  3. Throwing knives and darts are very rarely used anywhere, let alone Stakes.

I was trying to use the stakes' basic damage to guesstimate how the effects of Stakes on Vyres and the Flail skill stack together, but because the ranged strength was in between addy and rune darts, I had a hard time trying to find a ranged weapon that matched stakes in ranged strength (i eventually found Steel Javelins).

The default "custom value" options allows you to enter any ranged strength value.

I'll post more info when I get it. But preliminary guesstimates indicate that, if the Official Wiki's description were to be taken true (50% damage boost to vyres), base damage from ranged level is calculated first, then Void and Eagle Eye. then the 100 damage from flail skill is added, finally 50% damage boost is applied.

I'll post more info once I test more, but the above is the only way I could get the damage of the stakes to go above 450, more than double of 214 I got from normal ranged weapon with 12 ranged strength, extreme, void and eagle eye.

Prayers like Eagle Eye are already included in the base damage. Then it'd be ((base damage * void bonus) + 100) * 1.5? Also, is there a source that verifies the +100 damage from flail skill? Not too familiar with these fancy weapons myself, so forgive me if this is common knowledge.

  4. As the above posters mentioned, there are multiple rare drops. Personally, I thought the last RoW update added a third drop table with new goodies, leaving the two old ones intact. It may very well be true that it merely added things to the existing tables - it's not something we've been able to do a lot of research on. At any rate, I'm fairly sure that the new drops are not just added to the uncut gems table. I don't see any hobgoblins suddenly dropping Vecna skulls and thousands of rune essence.

Once we figure it out, we will improve the way such drops will be listed. We will most likely end up using an item groups for this, much like how we list drops for many dungeoneering monsters now.

As for clue scrolls, that's a separate issue entirely. The RoW simply improves odds of getting a clue scroll from monsters that are able to drop them. It is unrelated to rare drops and the like.

  5. Because of the way that calculators are coded they'll put anything that you'll get access to while going after the level in green. I'll poke the calc coders and see if they can make it more clear, perhaps change those to yellow as well.

I'm working on a general update that will affect all calculators, and this is indeed exactly how the colours will function after said update - things that you unlock along the way to your goal will be coloured yellowish / orangey, instead of green. Please bear with us for the time being :)

  6. That's unfortunate. Thank you for taking the time to try and verify this, though :)

If we can't actually verify this in game, I suppose we could try and put some faith in the new official Wiki. Unfortunately, they only state that the level requirements for woodcutting are between 10 and 34 for the different vines, without going into specifics. (see here)

Edit: locked 'cause it is not verifiable :(

  7. Your planning calculator is outstanding but may need a small tweak.

Would it be possible to add the effect of using URNS were or when allowed?

Hey nezumisan, welcome to the forums, and thank you for your feedback :)

Urns are surprisingly difficult to properly add to the current calculator set-up. You can use the "Urns" category to estimate how much XP you will end up with after using a certain amount of urns. This is the best we can do for now.

A future update will make it much easier to approximate what the effect of using urns will be. As a rule of thumbs, constantly using urns will grant about 20% extra XP.

  8. Hey DmrSkiler, welcome to the forums and thank you for your submission :)

You're right, strike spells no longer seem to inflict maximum damage to Salarin, even though they do hit harder against him than they do against regular monsters. I will update his description momentarily.

  9. Oops, I assumed that the 96 and 103 mummies looked just about the same so I used the same image for those. I'll snap a new one when I get back.

(Be sure to F5, as I updated the old image for the 103 mummy as well. That one looked nothing like what we used to show...)

Edit: looks like the 96 version has a bit more wrappings, unless both the 96 and 103 versions share a number of different skins. Furthermore, only fire spells will work. Other spells will simply splash.

I could kill one with a ring of recoil but I didn't get any loot that way. Looks like fire spells is the only way to go.

    Thanks again :)

  10. Thank you for your thorough submission :)

I've added the monster (see here) and credited you appropriately. I tried killing a handful, and was unable to hit them with melee and ranged. I somehow forgot to try air spells on them  I will probably go back later to verify.

  11. Look forward to following Fen Research though ever since I started following Jagex in 2000. Maybe he'll be cool and upload The Bottomless Pit, lol.

Ooh, I remember that one. It had cheat-codes for that cute little 2D-sidescroller-shooter game if I recall :P

heh, I just noticed this at the bottom of tip.it - shows you how the times have changed...better change that to Jagex now.. :/

RuneScape ® is a trademark of Jagex © 2000-2011 Andrew Gower

(Also there...designed for IE 6+, Mozilla 1.0+, Netscape Navigator 5+, Opera 4+..lol Netscape...wonder whatever happened to that browser?)

Heh, I'm all for being rebellious and leaving Andrew's name there. Copyright or not, RS wouldn't be here without him. Just my personal opinion, not representing Tip.It's view here.

We kept the Netscape Navigator bit in as a bit of an easter egg. I'm pretty sure some of the newer more script-intensive stuff doesn't work on Netscape at all - lord knows I never tested anything for it, and I've been on the crew for a while now :P

  12. Hey all,

This is something we plan on doing in future, once we have figured out with reasonable accuracy what is on the rare drop table(s) and which monsters have access to what drops. Given how rare some drops are, this may take some time still.

Meanwhile, any reports, especially those on rare drops that drop a varying quantity of items (such as addy ore, coal, pure essence and yew logs) are much appreciated.

  13. Judging on Obliv's explanation, it seems that both potion boosts and ranged boosts from prayer are included when multiplying, both times.

For plain level 99, the following would occur:

    99 * 1.1 = 108.9 = 108

    108 * 1.1 = 118.8 = 118

That's an increase of around 19.2%.

If you were to boost your ranged to exactly level 100, we'd have:

    100 * 1.1 = 110

    110 * 1.1 = 121

For an increase of 21%. So yeah, the exact percentage varies a little bit.

  14. I don't know what you mean by our gallery? The items database page that our ranged max hit calculator refers to does state 10% which is clearly wrong. I'll go change that momentarily.

Our calculator follows Obliv's formula, aside from a few minor differences - please refer to [qfc]154-155-606-60798052[/qfc] for more information. Basically, it is as Leaf says. Multiply ranged level by 1.1, round down, multiply by 1.1, round down again, for an approximately-but-not-quite 20% boost.
