We asked Fools for a F2P Wild fight and knowing there probably wouldn't ever be one of this size or calibre again, it was fitting to make sure it was against them. We agreed on an earlier fight (3:30EST/8:30GMT Start), and a 1.5 hour cap. We knew naturally this would draw the entire clan world out one last time as well.Due to the occasion, we hyped this fight up big and invited people who have shared various memories with us along the way. This was our last fight on OSRS and concludes our 5 year+ reign on OSRS and 14 years+ (with closure) including both versions of RS. Hopefully those that were apart of DI past and present enjoyed themselves and appreciated one last hurrah in this game. Thanks again for the fight Fools as these are a very rare occurrence and hard to set up.Oergg's Final Speech:Video of fight:Damage Inc. Starting:~285 optionsFools Starting:~282 optionsDamage Inc. Quote by Olde Nite from DI forums: http://www.di-rs.net/forums/index.php?/topic/3685/
I've written thousands of topics in the past, but this one is definitely one of the hardest ones I've written.
Truth is, I could sit here 24 hours a day and not miss a beat. I could sleep 2 hours a night, 3 hours a night and it didn't even matter because life would go on and I'd still have a list of things that I looked forward to do on here. I enjoyed every second of it. There may have been unexpected challenges (unknown, unknowns) almost daily, but I always appreciated that challenge. Some day life's going to hit you like a [bleep]ing truck and if you let your emotions cloud that judgement you're going to fall apart, at least initially. So I always tried to embrace things for what they were, knowing anything was possible, with the top priority being the members, at least within DI.
I've always said as long as I have desire for something I could do it 20 hours a day, no matter what. What's a bit ironic here is I haven't lost desire. I still enjoy the game, still enjoy the people (mostly) and still have the time. But it's not about me and never was. It's about DI and the community as a whole and that's really the only reason I continued this. As a group, the leadership team decided we can't continue. Many of our members also recognize that, with the way the clan world operates, we can't live our lives and live up to the expectations of our fellow clan members.
The reality is, the clan world will never become what we want it to be. The actors, even if they're new, have operated the same way they have for 15 years. People may have gotten older, but their attitudes are just as immature. That makes a sustainable, fun clan world for all, impossible.
It's no longer fair to ask anymore from you our members to build DI if the clan world will continue to stagnate. There's nothing left for us to accomplish. We could spend every hour organizing 100 new members and Jagex could release clan support, but it would be a ton of effort just to have the same results. It's time for us to move on, and probably what remains of the "clan world" will shortly follow. The members both past and present will always be the reason why this clan was so special, and even though our challenges were much different on OSRS than pre-EOC, we were one of a kind and will always be known for the way we pioneered the clan world. And for that, I thank you all.
A special shout out to everyone who was involved the past year, especially the officials present at the time. It's not easy to have faith in something when you're just left in the dark, your forums stolen, and all of your infrastructure shut down. It was an impossible task and yet we somehow made it work, easily attributed to our unique community.
Personally, I will be quitting the game and likely dropping my stuff to DI members so that it can be put to good use. I'm not disappearing, but overtime I'll probably be long gone and never look back as that's pretty much how I roll. I encourage everyone who continues to play the game in a clanning capacity to not make rash decisions. Decide as a group. Right now active DI members can have the most power to change the clan world, and that will be completely determined by the final decision of where to go as a group.
Our community will still remain intact, as it has for over a decade, as long as they are used and for the sake of all of you. We hope many who have left our community return without the stigma of "posting on a rival forum." We have no intentions of leaving you in the dark and to your own devices, so if you still want to come on IRC/Forums for the time being, you are welcome to. If there's something you need/want to talk about, my PMs will still be wide open like they've always been. I may not respond within 0.002 seconds though.
Thank you to all those who made our time in this as a clan fun. The future for each of us is unwritten, but we can no longer, as adults, run a clan.
I can happily say I was and always will be DI til I die. DI is an idea, and although institutions are finite, ideas are eternal.

After last season's result, we were hoping Jagex would get it right and not bomb our entire fall in during the final hour this time around. Thankfully they sorted it out and things were smoother on our end, allowing us to make it much further. When all was said and done, we missed out on first place by 2 kills and took 3rd place. Good to see more clans getting involved which made for a more interesting final.
Got kills on some major streamers as well including "B0aty", "RRobert" and "Sparc Mac". Thanks for the excitement Jagex.
Stay tuned for vids of the tourny/final hour.
The very ending (3rd place):

This is the halloween event that was held back in 2007. Jagex decided to remake the event on Old School Runescape. I originally completed this event in 07, this is just a re-do 7 years later, was fun nonetheless. Enjoy!

Thats great. I'm assuming this is on 2007 right? no way you'd get decent fighting like that today. Whos running DI now? I'm guessing its not Brian. I would kill to get some classic mage bank pking in now and then... I only played for the spontaneous mini wars between us and RSD at mb when groups encountered eachother then we would all spam our msns, and within 5 minutes 20 people are there. Those were the days. but to do all that over again. I'm just curious how long does it take to max on there? If it doesn't take as long as it did in 2004 then I might think about it. It couldn't take as long as 99 ranged in RSC
Sorry for long response, i stopped playing osrs for a while might start again dunno yet,
But, in a nutshell, they basically made a mini game NMZ where you can easily afk all your stats. Much easier than it was in RSC lol. Just check DI forums if you wanna see what's going on (and yes Brian is leading DI again, i doubt anyone else would).

Around 7 of us headed up to 50 portals earlier this evening to find a pure team who were portalling around, after having a few fights they massed up ~70 ops. We quickly massed up 25 people and our scouts found that AF were fighting the pure team at new gate. We logged in and rushed them clearing both AF and the pure team. Thanks for the fight AFDI Ending ops pic - 37 on TSKill pics (Alex still uploading his 48 kills)

Yea so basically we heard EoS were out so we massed up and went to clear them.
DI Starting: 40~
EoS starting: 30~
Went up and smacked EoS around for a bit until they ran to single and started doing laps of wilderness:
Some kills:
After chasing Eos around wilderness for a bit we decided to fight DF next.
DI Starting: 64
DF Starting: 42
Was a good clean 1 on 1 fight for a bit before EoS and then RoT attempted to crash it. After clearing both clans, making them run to single and log we both went to members and took ending options.
Some kills: -
Not sure, most of them are eos/genesis i think lol

the rundown
The day started off with AF baiting us at 50s, knowing it was a bait we massed up 25 of our finest warriors and rushed in, the fight started off chaotic with both quite a few AF/DI getting ported away and the rest of us having to make due, the fight lasted a few minutes with AF leaving, thinking they ended we walked down only to hear they were remassing so we waited out for them, the 2nd "fight" was short lived. AF tried to bait us into the gate and we tried to bait them south. Ended up with us rushing north of gate and clearing the AF there and the rest ran off to volcano and logged back out. Following a PM on IRC we moved the fight to world 353 where the numbers were heavily in our favor and the fight reflected such. EoS/JaJa decided to show up near the end and donate some sets to us as well. Thanks for the fight AF, despite the numbers you fought valiantly.
Thanks to AC (Anonymous Community) for the AC.

Was a good fight.
The semi-final for the Jagex cup was DI vs TRWF. We had a bit of trouble setting the rules at first, but some Mod handled that. We didn't get to practice at all this week, and knew TRWF were gonna put up a good fight, as well as pulling a lot of numbers. We hopped to the assigned world and waited for TRWF. We went in and death dotted at the north-east wall. Our first pile was Evil Semir, and it all started from there. We kept on transitioning, and noticed we killed about ten TRWF members while they only killed one. We kept on expanding the lead and managed to end with the most people in the cup so far. Good fight TRWF and good luck Titans.

DI: 100
TRWF: 96

DI: 67
TRWF: 0

It is because of them and laws like the community reinvestment act which was changed under Bill Clinton and had them encouraging loans to people who shouldn't be getting them. They knew if they needed it they would be bailed out. The President himself warned 17 times about what was coming. Congressional democrats blocked any move to increase oversight of them. McCain himself co-sponsored legislation to regulate them.
So you're effectively blaming Bill Clinton for this mess? Ahh shock, he's a Democrat. Didn't see that coming.
The Republicans had control of the White House and Congress for four years. The Democrats were no where in sight. If Bush was as much of a prophet as you claim, why didn't he change the system? He had ample opportunity to do so.
I don't personally blame any specific person or group of people for this. I blame the thinking over the past 20 years that free market privatisation is always the best option, and if you want anyone to blame for that, blame Thatcher.
I also point to the number of Republicans in the bail-out vote who felt ideologically uncomfortable with the state getting involved in the banking sector. Do you wish to blame their reluctance on the Democrats as well?
And it also matters where we go from here. Do we raise taxes on business and the rich even though it will cost jobs and discourage investment? The US has gone about this all wrong. Gordon Brown seems to have chosen the right option, and the rest of Europe seems to be following suit. Part-nationalise the banks. If they're such a vital part of the economic structure of capitalism, and they're at the verge of collapse, then the state should take over. With the state's weight behind the banks, confidence improves, and shares rise. When things are better, you sell the shares off. Maybe for a loss, maybe for a profit, but no where near the $700B mark.
I was never a fan of trickle-down economics. You'll seldom meet many people in Europe who are. They are grossly inadequate for the poorer classes, which constitute the majority of a population in any truly capitalist state.
I love Clinton but from what I understand it was his set up which set the course for this. But Bush had his hand at the wheel when the course should have been altered and he didn't...despite the warnings. So it was Bush's failure in the end.
