March 13, 200719 yr Well I have some crap $60 ogitech speakers that got ripped out of the plug too many times and the rear speakers don't work anymore. So I need to get some new speakers. I don't know too much about speakers, so I don't really know what to get. My budget is about $200 I will be using with a X-fi Xtreame music soundcard. These will be used for games and listening to music. One thing is that I don't want the wires to go across the middle of my floor like my current speaker set-up. I would like wireless speakers, or to buy some speaker extension cables so I can wire them correctly :D . I don't have a clue about what type of cable I will need, so I will need help on that too.
March 13, 200719 yr Not the most helpful of posts (since I don't know about surround sound), but have you considered just getting an amp and some hifi speakers? I've been using that sort of setup for many years and I find it far better than a surround sound setup of similar price. Just because the quality of sound is so much higher. Then again it obviously doesn't do surround sound! I'm just saying it's something to consider, if you haven't already.

I like the surround sound for when I game because it adds to the realness and I know if there's somebody behind me :P .
