Well, it's a good start I guess, here comes the c/c lol.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1. It's obvious that your shading needs way more work. Remember where your light source is coming from(I.E. The Sun) Then the shadows would all be on the opposite side, if you know what I mean. Try working with more then just a base color, take that base color and make 2 shades of it darker, and 2 shades of it lighter, so instead of 1 of each color, you're working with 5 of each color. It's alot more work but the end result is worth it. :P

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. I think you may have saw it yourself, then tried to fix it, but your background is pretty blank, and adding a bunch of clouds wont fix that. Try maybe some mountains, or buildings(Castles, Ruins, etc..) Or trees to fill the empty space.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Maybe you can try making the characters a little bigger, so you may add more detail to them. The character on the left looks weird because of the "!", If it was bigger you could add facial detail to give him that shocked look, instead of having to put a exclamation mark(unless you really want to of course :P) And on the character to the right, the bow is bigger then he is, lol :P

Shading and colour choice is a bit poor, but you already seem to know that... Linework is actually quite good for a 2nd pixel, and that sig's probably higher then the standard of the average 2nd sig...
