Unable to Connect to Update Server

When loading RuneScape (all worlds), I receive the following error:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Error_game_js5connect - Unable to connect to update server.

 

 

 

Runescape was unable to connect to the update server. This is most likely caused by a firewall blocking the connection. To resolve this:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

# If you have firewall or security software installed please ensure RuneScape/Java is allowed to open outgoing network connections on ports 43594.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

# Note Windows XP Service Pack 2 has built in firewall software. If when loading RuneScape this asks if you want to allow the connection, you need to say 'yes'.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

# If that doesn't help then an external firewall may be causing the problem. Please ask your network adminstrator/ISP to open port 43594 for TCP traffic.

I tried disabling my Windows XP SP2 firewall - didn't work. I can't find any other firewalls (information on how to would be helpful). I tried opening port # 43594 on my Windows XP SP2 firewall - didn't work. I was playing normally only an hour ago, and this problem suddenly occured.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Any ideas on how I can solve this problem?

This belongs in Tech and Computers I believe. If you are running DSL/Cable I would recommend to shut down your computer, followed by any and all routers. Wait 15 seconds, turn the router(s) back on. Then turn on your desktop.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

See if that works, it will probably solve your issue.
