hang out in world2 falador park, merchanting barrows armour is often quite good... do something like verac skirts or so until you got enough money for full verac...

 

 

 

or, you could try to merchant obsidian capes and shields for a while.

 

 

 

anyways... there is no "best" item to merchant... just use your brain, if you see someone selling low, buy it... just try to learn the market prices, instead of just staying on one item, don't knowing if someone is giving you a good offer on another item.
