Been messing around in photoshop recently with a photo of my boyfriend, and these are the results. I think the method is called cell shading, but I'm not sure:

With a filter also (I hadn't fixed his hair in this one):

I have created a font for this, but have been too lazy to clean up the scan lines, so I've used a premade font.

It'll probably be used at a later date as a business card once perfected.

Anyone have any tips or advice to improve on this?

(Also, cheers Woopidoo for your help :))

Sambora|Level 37 Tauren Shaman|BurningLegion

i like more the first cause it has a higher contrast in shading.

Lol, I have no idea in regards to where cell shading was used. I prefer the first one too it's much cleaner.

I just made up the way of shading it after looking at a few pictures I liked, I used paths with the pen tool. I looked it up after I'd done part of it, and the tutorial told me to do exactly what I was doing already. I practised on this picture of a dog beforehand and managed to almost perfect the technique on this one.

Cheers for your input though guys. I'm looking to create a new one, my other friends have seen this now everyone wants one :XD:. Luckily it doesn't take too long.

Never know, I might do a self portrait, but my hair will be a nightmare to do! Boy's hair is a lot easier lol.
