Use the color amount and lossyness sliders. They are located somewhere around the Image Ready interface.
what exactly are sliders? I just tried to look for something that seemed related to what you were trying to say, but I couldn't find it. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'd post a screen shot if my host wasn't down...

Make sure in the upper menues that "window > optimize" in ticked.

There should be a window..similar to the layers window..somewhere on your screen named "optimize".

It should have info of the format and other issues. Select format gif. Now play with the lossyness and color amount to gain the best result that fits the size. You can click the "preview in browser" button (located at the bottom of the tool palette) to see how much it will take space when saved as optimized. Clear now?
